should i go online w/ pso?

i recently started playing pso episode 1&2 GC again a few weeks ago after many many years and was wondering if its still possible to go online..

And if SO, i have some other questions as well

Can my offline characters go online? i have 3 characters over 100 + awesome items

Does the network adapter have to be plugged into my modem with an ethernet cable? my modem isn't anywhere near a tv

Yes, but only because it would make things easier for you.

so the servers are still up for gamecube? i can just plug in an adapter then go online? or do i have to go on a priv server
