Maintenance for June 30th Update / Supplemental Info [Archive]

This was posted on the Official PSU forums earlier by Edward.

Attention, GUARDIANS!

We have several announcements for PSU.

First, as announced by the JP website, we will have a maintenance period for this week. As compensation for the server downtime on 6/23-6/24, we will be making the following adjustment:

Daily Casino Coins: x20 (up from x1)

Additionally, we know that all of you are waiting for news on our major Update.

We are very close to release at this time. I will post an exact date as soon as it is confirmed. There has been a great deal of work necessary to prepare this major Update for our servers, and we are currently working out the last few minor details necessary for launch.

This means the Update will be ready likely within a week’s time. Please understand that this is the best information we can provide, and dates and details are always subject to change until everything is 100% confirmed.

More information is coming soon!

Also, to follow up on other threads and previous comments: We have been, for some time, very interested in seeing PSU available through Games on Demand, and we are looking to make this happen as soon as possible. Although we cannot announce any details at this time, please stay tuned for more information in the very near future. I would be very surprised if we did not see PSU available on Games on Demand by the end of the Summer. Discuss. :D

Can't wait for the Voloyal Coins. In my opinion, that half a day of down time was completely worth it now, haha. Also, having PSU in Games on Demand is cool if my disc ever stops working (which seems to be common for all my friends, at least).

I like how Edward covered himself by saying that the "Major Update" will be ready within a week's time, but everything is "subject to change".

That's what I've been thinking. I honestly don't think Sega would go out of their way to implement an update sooner (like, next week) rather than later (three weeks from now, when the Sonic lobbies go down), even if all the content was "ready".

It will need to be deleted & redownloaded. I will include messaging about how to do this once we actually reach maintenance time.

Read my post again! I said "within a week". That means the update content -- the content in previews on our website -- should be live, for you to play, within a week. I don't know where you're getting a month left from.

Also he seems pretty sure we're getting it in a week lol :D Maybe a tuesday maybe next friday. wouldnt be surprised about the friday after but i would be surprised at any later than that :)

The title update Xbox is getting is what was shown in the previews. Nothing that has to do with GC content is in them. Go ahead and keep believing SEGAC will deliver you what you want and in a timely manner. I don't know how many times someone can be spit on by SEGAC before they realize they are being bamboozled and step out of thier spitting range.

This is true for the most part, it's just I personally keep paying them because I have fun with the people I play with. Yes, I definitely have a lot of issues with the game, but It doesn't mean I don't love the game regardless. To put it simply, for me personally, I have gotten a lot more from playing than I have lost from spending money.

These JP PSU players act like they are playing a different game then us.... Let me guess the most run mission there is WB and SE right?? You are playing the same game as us. When we get the GC items for free it will still be the same game. Only we wont be paying real money for the same items you paid for.... :D

Oh and what we are getting with this update is what you got with your first look at Sup Update. Although there wont be a massive shut down and rollback..... At least i hope not ;)

GC was a later update for JP PSU and im more then sure we are getting near the same amount of stuff you got. Ed wouldnt even bring it up if we werent. He would just say no GC and no GC related items. Even if we only get half of what you got it will still be better then paying real money for it....

ummm dont mean to burst your bubble deal, but i dont think white beast or SE have been the most played missions there for a while :/

I think the players the do have a bit better but it also isnt so dramatically different as they make it seem :P I'm happy to be on my 360 :)

Armas Lines are still one of if not the best armor out there even in JP.

I might be off about WB but im sure SE is still one of the most run missions there. It and Electronic Brain are the only missions that drop the board.....

Yay I'm not the only one that is sick of reading that, here I am wondering how to get on the JP servers myself and seeing all this "JP is better than Xbox" crap as much as I would love to join the JP servers to try it out I really am weighing my options, so the 360 servers is full of jerks, you guys bashing it doesn't make the JP server sound any better.

Yeah it was. I'm pretty sure if our severs were to magically get all the content that JP has 0% of them would be pissed of. 1, because they really wouldn't care and 2, because they had it before us. Dealbreaker WB and SE are FAR from the most played missions on JP servers, armas line boards are dirt cheap so no one would actually need to hunt for one seeing as JP servers meseta is through the dam roof of what I would imagine. Oh and Shijin > Armas line, no one really cares for them as much as they used to. And as much as I hate to say this, i agree strongly with shou on this topic. We may be playing the same client of the game, but not really the same game. We're on baby food, they're on T-bone steak.

I also don't think that the GC items being free on 360 would make any difference to most players, not everybody has a 360 and there are people who prefer pc or dislike US Sega.

Who cares what JP gets its there game. Im happy with what little we have. Dont really care that we dont get the same updates. I just dont like all the JP PSU US people coming on every thread and acting like there game is some gift from god. They are playing the same game with the same crap. Sure they get more of the re skinned crap then we do but its still the same.

Its just crazy that they feel they are playing some sweet new game when they are still playing a game with PS2 graphics. Me playing on the 360 i have no other choice but to deal with it, However they are on there PC and they have many better choices. They keep playing this outdated game. The only thing that brings them joy is knowing they are more ahead of the US servers.

That is why if anything GC comes over here for free it will be a shit storm on JP PSU. Alot of the JP players know what is on the US side. They would demand the same content be free and they wouldnt get it. The only reason they keep the game up there is GC.....It feels like your opinion is based off pure fiction of your own rage and you know nothing. But what do I know? I just like to brag about my godly game that's complete shit because it has ps2 graphics. I honestly don't think I need to say more on that. This whole thing got started because of you bragging how JP is gonna get mad and all when you don't even know if you'll get the GC related items yet or anything for that matter. (And I do hope the players do. After all this shit we've been through and so forth)

you have to admit though, its quite pathetic when you have more fun with a game you can only understand about 40% of. Thats the difference between the two.

I prefer english myself, but jesus i dont know how much more you Xbox guys can take.

If you have played PSU for quite a while, there is nothing you aren't able to understand. And even the new things on japanese you can start to understand because you start to get a feeling for the japanese katakana and know what which letter means.

And yeah... It's pathetic that people have to go to japan to have fun; Too bad that the XBOX360 servers don't get more support, even though the PS2/PC Servers are down since a while ...

Nothing about the management of PSU360 has changed. Nothing. I dont know why people are surprised we're still getting delays. They only said that so the suckers would keep sucking up to their every announcement as usual. Give the illusion that they care.

Well, everybody who isn't too simple-hearted knew it already before, that Sega wouldn't change anything. That's the reason why I changed on JP immediately after they announced the end of PSU EU/US for PC/PS2. Waiting weeks for Sega giving updates and buying a XBOX 360 just for that, is kinda stupid and I see, i wasn't wrong with my thoughts about Sega.
It's really pitiful too see how Sega is handling the XBOX 360 Servers. They will just get a smaller version of the Supplemental Update (nicely renamed as the Guardians Advanced Content LOL)...

Well... I can just advice to anyone who likes having a game content update every week to join the japanese servers, otherwise... yeah, I'm sorry for all the XBOX 360 people who are delayed by Sega...

Naw, I think they shut them down because they needed the servers for other projects - and it was cheaper to loose a few customers than it was to buy a new server. When they said they were taking down the PS2/PC servers for make way for "bigger and better things", I don't doubt it. Well, maybe not "Bigger and Better"... but they definitely have a project or re-purpose for them. Possibly something we might never see a front end application for. It wouldn't surprise me to find out that that the servers are being used as a workhorse for their new digital distribution model. Or perhaps they're using them as a test bed for the development of a new online PS game. It's hard to say, but to chalk it up to simple apathy/laziness as a reason for them pull the plug just doesn't sit well with me.

After all, if they really didn't want to bother with the PS2/PC servers anymore, they could have just let them run in perpetuity, completely neglected, until a bug or error or oversight on the budget quietly killed them off. And that's not outside of the realm of experience... as DC PSO servers were prone to days to weeks of downtime, errors taking months to sort out (like that "oops" moment when they mass-banned most of their NA players), and not to mention eternal Christmas on the XBL PSO side.

But yeah, I agree that anyone who actually thought that the PS2/PC shutdown was going to somehow translate into greater attention and care paid towards the 360 clients was either horribly naive or straight fucking loony tunes.

I guess, that's what everybody thought. Unfortunately SoA is still SoA and nothing has changed... Well... A little progress is that they at least apply the supplemental update to the US/EU 360 servers. Even though it's pitiful that the XBOX Server just get a smaller version of the supplemental update. I hope Sega won't disappoint the people much more, but I'm afraid, they will and the support will be as bad in future as it was in the past lols...

Hmm let me think... Because they remove a part of the update the japanese servers got with the supplemental update?
And well... They basic bad thing on this all is, that Sega won't change and thus, I believe that XBOX Gamers will still have to wait for standard content updates like 3,4,5 weeks or more, while SoJ applies a weekly update on the servers...

Buddy we are in the same boat, just a few days ago I had a shocking thought run through my mind, I was thinking, "PSOW is starting to act like Sonic Stadium which is a Sonic forum, Yeah Sonic fan sit, nuff said." Seriously compared to what I had to deal with on PSO PSU has been miles better, and PSU on 360 is even better now just combine that with an offline mode that is the PSP, I'm having a blast over here.

That's due to the localizing the content, so it won't make the 360 servers explode.

The only person tha I know of that claimed the PC/PS2 servers closure would lead to better things for the 360 servers was Edward. If you believe anything he says at this point you are the bigger fool because he is getting paid by SEGA. He knows how pathetic our servers are and how powerless he is to do anything about it but he gets paid to defend them and put a positive spin on everything. Some players still trust our GMs though and that is very sad as they are the ones that have moved on to bigger and better things (which is certainly not PSU).
