GC: Questions about BBA, network setup and protocols

I have some question about the GC BBA and the available settings for it.

1. Can it handle a PPPoE connection directly, without using a router ?
2. Are connections over a LAN and internet router possible ?

1. Yes you can use PPPoE directly however, it will Disconect and freeze up a lot on you. I use PPPoE DSL and it would lock up about once an hour, if I didn't to the bank and dump my items fast I'd lose all my stuff. The only way to fix it is to use a router.
2. Yup thats how I'm set up. No disconnect/FSOD problems anymore. It lags or I'll get DCed every once in a while but I dont get the FSOD or lose my items.

Yes, it can. Simply connect the GC BBA directly to your modem via a standard RJ-45 cable. (This is the cable you are already using, unless you are using a USB modem, and if that's the case, continue reading...)


2. Are connections over a LAN and internet router possible ?

Yes, and in many cases -- but not always -- they are beneficial. I personally have my home router set up as a DHCP server, and I connect my GC BBA directly to the router whenever I want to play PSO online. Works wonderfully.
