So here's the gist of my problem: whenever I try to download something or stream anything lately, after a few minutes, my modem resets itself. It has four lights on it: INTERNET, PC LINK, CABLE LINK, and CABLE ACTIVITY. Every time it resets either the PC LINK or the CABLE ACTIVITY light goes out, then it restarts ending up with either all the lights blinking continuously (leaving me with no internet connection) or going back to normal. It's connected to a Linksys router, and my ISP doesn't give me a monthly up/down limit. So, does anyone know if it is an issue with the modem, the router, or something else?

Sounds like your modem is acting up. Call your ISP for tech support so they can check either it's the modem or the line going to your home.

Okay, thank you very much. I just wanted an opinion before I went to call them and to avoid them telling me it's something my router was causing.

I recently had this problem for a ongoing year or so. i got it fixed and figured out the way my modem was wired from the cable or w.e. wasnt wired right or placed in the wrong area giving me bad signal and i got that whole wire thing rewired by a tech guy from my internet company and im set :)

I called, and when the guy got here, he was surprised that the old modem we had was even still working as much as it was. He replaced it with a brand new one, which not only hasn't had any problems thus far, but is much smaller which I'm really happy about.
