Now, I know there's no "right" way to do things but is my neuman sorta wasted as an acrotecher since they get the melee toys and should I switch over to the guns?

Well, actually with AT mix your melee weapons with RCSMs and you can do a nice bit a damage, even out doing DPS from your TECHs.

Guntecher's best toys are all left-handed guns that rely solely on ATP, and, to a lesser degree, the Shifa oh them.

Acrotecher's best toys are party members!

AT is more caster-orientated than GT, but neither can pump out the consistent big numbers like a Masterforce can. I assume you're more in it for the versatility (and smexy ears) more than the pure spell damage.

Both can use the new Shag Hodogg, arguably the best Range-Mag available at the moment (it has four shots, coupled with Newman's naturally high TP this is quite nice), but on a GT that means you're missing out on your Crossbow, Mechgun or (A-rank) Card. Ironically, GT can use the S-rank ones, most of which fire a (sloooooooow) penetrating laser.

Stupidly enough, the best S-rank range mag is a ground type Ebrozike/Frauduke/Elsral as it stuns, and GT has Maisei-sou that has a higher chance, longer lasting stun with added knockdown!

Whips are nice for tagging enemies, the S-rank Tenora ones are rather cheap, but the Vish Adac (stun) and Vish Diragac (instant kill) are Kubara copies with ten times more bite than their real versions. With buffs and a nice power boosting arm slot, even a newman gets some nice crowd control out of a whip. AT is the only person to get S-ranks here, FT has them but their super low ATP, ATA and a lv10 PA cap makes them less than useful.

Other things to bear in mind: PAs. Acrotecher get lv20 in all of their physical PAs such as whips, sabers, cards, machineguns, twin pistols etc. While this isn't hugely high, it also means it's easy to max out. On the other hand, their buffs and heals go to 50; a lv50 buffing Acrotecher very very rarely gets booted! Guntechers on the other hand have lv10 melee (dagger, saber & doublesaber), lv40 bullets, lv30 attack spells like the AT, and lv30 support to match. GT is by no means the support character that AT can be, but a lv40 bullet cap is great for a hybrid type.

Generally, Acrotecher is a more desired party member regardless of race, but GT suffers with newman's poor ATP. The game's easy enough though so if you like being a tricky gunslinger rather than a whiptastic healspammer, go right ahead! The beauty of PSU is that you can try a class for a paltry few meseta and essentially lose nothing if you don't like it.

The best AT's are M Casts bye far, no arguments can be made. As an AT the only thing you should be doing if you are in a good party is buffing, debuffing, and maybe healing, if things are not dying fast enough. Cast AT has enough TP to heal even 180 Beast FF 20 fully so TP is not an issue. Cast is the best support class simply because of SUV combined with the fact that they will best utilize whips since they have high ATP and ACC. Now you can use an SUV but I suggest a Stamina Unit that gives you more stamina, you cannot afford to be frozen or stunned when your job is to be purely support.

If you are using AT for any other purposes than purely as a support character you are not making the most out of this class and this is not the class for you. You are a tremendous assest to the group when you simply do what this class entitles but you are a hinderence to the group when you decide that you should cast spells, use twin pistols, or try to put damage on creatures in any way whatsoever. It is not the AT's responsibility to apply damage, it is to be support to the damage creators. If you have a problem with doing this, this class isnt suited for you.

GT is completly different. As a GT you support the group in 2 different ways. But you have to keep in mind you are still playing a support class. Your job is to basically fire from range with your rifle with knockback effect when their are no other gunners in the group or when someone is in trouble work your way to the front lines with your offhand crossbow and throw them a heal/buff/reverser. Buff when they accidently get debuffed. Your job is support the group from distance but keep in mind you are playing a support class and your job again is not just to create damage, it is to support the group as a techer, by healing/buffing/reverser.

Now to your question if newman makes a good GT or AT. They can but Casts do both better. Newmans make good MF, FT, and even WT. Casts are an excellent support class.

AT is not a melee nor caster class, just because they can use those weapons and get techs up to 30 doesnt mean that, that is what you should be using. AT is purely a a support class. Again good AT's make the group stronger by making sure that the group is constanly buffed, the enemies are constantly debuffed, and the group of killers doesnt have a worry, thats when you know you have a good AT in the group. When you know you have a crappy AT is when they buff the party but sit back and use twin pistols or simply just cast magic the entire time. I am not saying its a waste of time to lvl techs up on AT but as an AT your concern should be about making sure everyone else is at optimum strength and killing power as well as the enemies dying as quickly as possible.

Believe me, you don't have to convince me of cast superiority. I'm rockin a level 74 cast PT as my main. Nothin beats layin down a few EX traps then cleaning house with a grom blast.

It's the support and what sort of support I can do I was curious about. With my neuman I've got 2 main weapon slots. Both have a whip in one hand and a mage-mag on the left. One set has a whip for freezing and my buffs, the other has the vishic for confusion and the debuffs. But since he's so physically weak the whips aren't doin much at all.

So my new question is, how important is TP for this class? I know it's a support class so I'm not lookin to start throwin the giant glowing turd or anything, so if I raise a beast up that'd be enough TP for my buffs and resta to still be effective right?

Why are your whips not doing more damage? In the GAM missions, my ATs whips (42%), are laying down 800 damage per hit area, which makes the primary kill source on drua gohra. and kills Naval with ease.

I struggle the most with moderate HP single hit enemies (like olaka) to keep damage output high. Enemies like bil de vears , you can burn/virus to make up some damage output lost due to low low (LOW!) Atp.

TP is not used in support techs whatsoever. A level 50 buff on a Newman has the same effect as a CAST with the same level buff.

Resta and Giresta are the only support techs that are measured by TP, and even then, a Beast/CAST heal considerably high.

TP is used for Resta and Gi-Resta though, but a maxed Cast M or F will have enough TP to heal a M B FF, currently the highest HP class out of them all. But AT in general do not need to depend on TP at all.
