I seem to remember thinking that the characters seemed very out of place for Street Fighter, as there seemed to be a lot of robotically-enhanced or mystical characters running around.

But then I played Alpha and realized that EX's characters are just par for the course.

Me and my best-friend recently got into a debate over the silly characters Street Fighter throws in every now and then. Oiled-mexi-man and Blanca being pretty clear centerpieces. Basically was about the fact I didn't care to much for SF characters, and the mechanics are nothing special, so I damn near never play it, even when asked. Though if anyone asks to play KoF I usually am very willing (not that they don't have a few weird ones, but I like their system a lot.)

Yeah, was talking with someone, new friend about that too.

He also plays quite a bit more KoF, since he knows some of the characters better, can pull off more moves, even though he likes how SF systems are more grounded and not too over the top so some people aren't like Kim tier and he stands alone.

If only he could find a character, not that gawddam Ryu, in a SF series he would gel with, he'd play it more. He also liked TvC.

Much to my annoyance, I still have yet to play TvC. But it's definitely pretty high up there on my to-do list. Maybe since I've been forced to move back in with my mother I shall take advantage of the family Wii and maybe buy the game myself once I can start working again.

I also play far too often, the SFIII:3s which is the most Guilty Gear or SNK of the Street Fighter games.

You can do far too much fast and fun stuff in it for a SF game. Without the Fireball slowdown of SF II.

And thus in the Tournament, I was seeing things I had never seen before even how many years into the game and after how many matches with characters I thought I knew what they can and can't do. The game is like that, which makes it pretty popular and playable even now.

TV's kinda lagged a lot. Sucks.
