I got the whole thing, not just a screenshot, lol. :P

My friend bought a Macbook Pro this afternoon, and had no need for this one.
It's a 2007, and only has... 74gb of HDD, and 1GB of Ram.
I'm gonna put 4GB of Ram in, and not sure what I'm doing with the HDD yet.

I know they cant do much, but for $25 who the hell wouldn't buy it?

This is from the same kid mentioned in the BullShxt thread about the guy who has the Ipad and all whatnots.

Anyway, it's a weird computer. Everything is like drag and drop.
Definitely love the thing for battery life, cause I've been on it for a bit, and it's still doing decent for life.

I do agree that Mac's are overpriced, and are not worth the money, but hey, it was worth it in this case.
Thank whoever for friends like this guy. :D
(I think it was more of a birthday thing, since he was getting a new computer anyway).

Raikomaru
Aug 31, 2010, 12:20 AM
Still, even for $25, no, I wouldn't pay for it.... only if it was absolutely free so I could turn around and sell it right away for <$100 so it could provide some purpose of helping me get money and it wouldn't sit around my house and taint it with its macbook pretty-boy shenanigans/failures :disapprove:

It's decent for random online usages. Basic internet viewing or something.

Even if you did get it for $25, and sold it for <$100, you still make profit.
Why not?! Haha.

It's really not bad, but I'm glad I didn't have to pay for the name.

No worries though, this isn't turning me into a Mac Fanboy or anything.
Just sayin, damn good deal for something that can be used for basic internet use.

Sounds like something that would end up taking over the world!

Sounds interesting enough though.
It's not like I'll be using this computer a lot, just when I'm not home, so I can brig it places.
Just don't want my other one getting lost or stolen, or broken.

Worked out for the better, me getting a desktop first. :P

I was also thinking about dual booting, putting Win7 on this bad boy, but I don't think the HDD will have enough space at this point.
Maybe in the future.

It totally changed the way I used my mac, between that and spaces it's a multitasking beast as far as laptops go. I got so used to quicksilver that I found using windows without an equivalent was lacking. I found a program called launchy (http://www.launchy.net/) for windows that was just a launcher, but it lacks the macro-ability that quicksilver can do.

Well, you can have a free CD sent to you, instead. Alternatively, you could go with Debian (http://www.debian.org/), and install it off of a USB dongle.

Though I suppose you could conceivably extract the install CD's ISO image out onto a USB dongle, and install from there. That might work, too.

It may take up to 10 weeks to arrive, but you can have them send it to you free, from here (https://shipit.kubuntu.org/).

You can probably coax Photoshop into working on Kubuntu, but it comes with the GIMP, which is usually a feature generation or two ahead of Photoshop (GIMP had an equivalent to the content-aware fill for a couple of years before it showed up in Photoshop, though Photoshop's does work a bit better).

The thing about Linux, is that it has a surprisingly high level of compatibility with other operating systems. I can't speak for how well it works with Mac software (I honestly have never heard of anyone clamoring to be able to run their Mac software on another OS), but they say that Windows software sometimes runs faster on Linux, due to Linux's relatively low overhead, and nearer-to-hardware level of operation. Just make sure that you install Wine (provides runtime libraries for standard Windows software) and Mono (provides .NET support).

Thanks, I ordered it. 10 weeks isn't a bad waiting time for something free.
I've used GIMP before, I like it, though, honestly, I like Sai more than anything.

Kubuntu uses an integrated package manager. You'll simply need to select Wine and Mono from a list, and Kubuntu will handle the rest.

Here's something interesting about a number of Linux distros that you just don't see with installers for major operating systems: You may be able to run the OS directly from the installation CD without actually needing to install it, and you can have a huge, fully-featured OS installing from an image as small as 80MB, because it can be broken down to just its most absolutely important features, with the rest downloaded off of the internet on the fly, during the installation process. It's incredible.

I'm not overly fond of macs, but I'd definitely keep it around just to say I work with and know how to use one should the need arise (in my case my school computers were always mac, and my home always a PC, so I grew up on both.) Would definitely keep it around if only to DL diagnostic software should my PC burn out from viruses or what have you. Once suffered a pretty nasty attack, kept me from accessing any program on the net that could help my situation. So grabbed some software from the internet using my damn PSP. Good lord that took forever. I'd take a mac with the ability to browse the internet and DL at normal speeds over that any day. A damn tricycle is still better than a sports bike if the damn bike breaks and you still need to get somewhere. There's some other illegal crap macs are nifty for, what with so few viruses out for them, but that shan't be talked about here.

Sord, the Mac cant seem to download anything at normal speeds when torrenting, I've tried it out a bit.
Though, on direct download stuffs, it's super fast!
I downloaded Photoshop from Adobe in under 5 minutes. 1.4GB of stuff, in under 5 minutes...

Thought that was good.

And using a PSP... holy shit.

You'd be surprised how much you can DL directly if you spend a lot of time (and risk looking at the places) for a direct DL of something. That risk being heavily alleviated on MAC. Also dismantling programs that would be otherwise... troublesome for PC. Granted, Linux does a much better job of this but my experience with Linux is virtually nil. Also you can safely use Quicktime, for the assholes that won't put up shit in multi-formats like a proper citizen of the digital age should do. EVERY time I have attempted to add that shit to my PC, it has thoroughly beaten and raped my video drivers, and I have to go into safe mode, remove quicktime and reinstall my vid drivers and all that fun stuff. FUCK QUICKTIME. But it does work just fine on a Mac.

So, I installed an update, and the computer went crazy!
It said "No bootable disc installed, insert a boot disc" Blah blah.

So I got pissed for a minute, then was about to reinstall, then remembered I could hold the option key.
Did, and started up the Mac OSX just fine.... Hope I wont have to do that every time I shut down now.

Why are you still running Leopard? And 10.5 at that. Snow Leopard is $29 and it really does make a difference over Leopard. You seem to have put in money otherwise; it really would help out to upgrade to the latest OS too.

That happened to me when I first tried Boot Camp. ;-)

Track pad was no good. Or even to select and left click rather than scroll up down.

Page Up and Down Keys needed on that :laptop: book that the guy usually just does bookface.

It was also kinda torture in that he needed me to +6-7 more pages of BLEACH dialogue for em. BLEACH. No I dunno Who the FUX a "Cone" is.

If not he would drop the class. Later when he's late to class, needs to go library to print, he's chatting up some :bday: balloons girl. Hey, go to class. You gotta print your BLEACH final draft prog. to turn in.

I haven't put any money into it, other than to purchase it!
The other stuff came from my already broken laptop anyway.
But, I might dish out the $29 for Snow Leopard, if it is that much better.
What are the differences, if you know of any?

Actually, I couldn't get everything working right, (mainly the video card... the resolution was still messed up, and Windows Aero wasn't there...which I like) so I deleted it!
Definitely want to try it out again though.

Hey, the track pad is good on the :laptop:.
It's the OS that sucks!
I'm still not used to it.

I had that problem too. Try downloading all of the updates for Bootcamp
32 bit: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL996
64 bit: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL979

Also try looking through Nvidia's drivers on their website, unless your laptop has Intel graphics. If it has Intel graphics (which I think it does) then you should be fine with the Apple Bootcamp update.

I think it does have Intel. Though, I'm not 100% sure how to check.

Are those downloads the Windows 32/64 bit updates?
If so, I'll redo it, cause it only took like 30 minutes to install, 30 minutes to update.

They are just the updated drivers for Windows 7. Leopard and Snow Leopard both shipped without support for Win 7. Aero/graphics/everything should work much better after that update.

I need to reinstall my Win 7. I was having problems with my DVD drive and I'm still under warranty, so I took it to the Apple store. That fucking "genius" at the store replaced my hard drive. I had my files backed up, well my Mac files. I lost my Windows stuff. I wasn't too mad, all my Windows stuff was games. I'm just pissed that they replaced the hard drive for no reason.

I would have been pisssssed!
I've only had it what, a week, and there's already a lot of stuff I'd hate to lose.

Your MacBook has a problem.

You can only seem to post in this thread, contest thread, and maybe weirdo PSYOU forums.

Do you need help with this problem? http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_FCkxy29UskE/RjOAfOGKg2I/AAAAAAAAAv4/EfPPX_eMekQ/s200/clippy.png

Haha, well I've had to keep up with the thread!
I've posted in other ones, yesterday!

Also, Joefro, I guess 2.0 came with the Mac's Bootcamp, I have to update it to 3.0 before I can upgrade to that one you supplied.

Mmm... not sure why bootcamp isn't working, I had no problems installing vista on my mac other than the usual vista stuff (that and the fact that I still haven't registered it after a year) >.>

still, $25 for a macbook is a great price, nice find.
