Your armor must have a Body slot for such unit. Also, armor grade must be the same or better to equip units.
See http://www.pso-world.com/items/psu/3/2576/stun___resist/
The hunt for it can be long & painful, but will worth it.

Stun resist is cheap as hell, it's like...5k if that, sleep resist on the other hand is close to 600k (On 360), if you're doing white beast, you want a sleep resist, unless you're high level, you probably won't be able to farm it.

Yesh, better save that money up. Although, i would probably waste my time on other missions.

Sleep/resist is a special drop from the Magas Magahna and Adahna Degahna.
Special drop.
Can drop on C rank.
Forest Infiltration (Neudaiz, Agata Islands: Egam) is probably the easiest mission in the game, with a 600K drop on a C. And a 4mil board drop on S and S2.
Just throwing that out there.

So i should go knock out forest infiltration a billion times

A Sleep / Resist (or maybe a Freeze / Resist) is pretty much mandatory if you plan on doing White Beast runs. I highly suggest you try to get one of each Resist unit anyway for other missions, although Sleep, Freeze, and Stun are the most useful, since you can always pop an Antimate or Sol Atomizer to cure the other status effects in the game. Check the site's item database to see where each one drops, or try searching for some cheap ones in player shops.
One thing you should be aware of though, unless they changed it: if you search the player shops for a unit item, be sure to put spaces before and after the / in the name of the unit you're looking for (like how I've typed it at the beginning of my post), otherwise it won't show up. I don't know how much they run nowadays, but I expect Sleep, Freeze, and Stun to be among the more expensive ones.
Also, if you happen to find multiple ones, you might want to hang onto them in case you decide to make another character later on. Then, you can transfer them over with your Common Box and save yourself the trouble of looking for them over again.
But yeah, the Resist units in my opinion are some of the most useful body units for your armor that you can get in certain situations, other than the ones that boost your armor's elemental %, although I believe Resist units add 3% themselves (save for the Vijeri / Resist, which adds 5%). So, if you had a 25% lightning armor and had a Resist unit equipped, your armor would technically be 28% lightning. Of course, if status effects aren't an issue in the mission you're playing, you'd probably be better off with something like a Cati / Rainbow (http://www.pso-world.com/items/psu/3/2828/cati___rainbow/).
Of course, you could always do what a bunch of us old players did before the Resist units became available: run HIVE missions or fight Jarbas and learn to play "Megid Dodgeball" to avoid getting insta-killed.

Freeze is around 200k, sleep is around 600k, stun is under 10k.

The only other Resist worth using besides those 3 is Shock, IF you plan on running any mission in Rozenom. Lightning Go Bajilla inflict Shock way too often, and you'll blow through all your Antimates/Sols if you're solo and not a Techer.

Dude, it's been said before, ANYONE can use ANY resist unit as long as their (A-rank or higher) armour has a Body Slot.
It doesn't matter what level you are, or what race or class you are. Your armour needs to have the correct opening. Try Serafi-Senba or Rabol Rappy or Sori-Senba. Rabol Orachio when you're high enough to use it; great Wartecher armour with a nice +3 stamina bonus.
1. Get an armour with a body slot
2. Put the /resist unit in the body slot
3. ???
4. Profit!

All you need is an A or S rank armor with a body slot on it...
You can't equip units into your armor if their rank is higher than the rank of your armor. For example, if your armor is B rank, you can only equip units that are B or C rank; if you have an S rank armor, than you can equip C, B, A, or S rank units (all of them). All of the Resist units are A rank except the Vijeri / Resist, which is S rank.
So yeah, just upgrade your armor and you should be fine. I can't really recommend a good armor for WT since I've barely played that class, but as far as A rank armor goes, I'd suggest a Rabol Rappy (all slots but light :light: element only), Yamata-Senba (all slots except Extra), or a Sori-Senba (all slots but ice :ice: element only). Eventually, you'll want to get a good S rank armor, such as a Serafi-Senba or a Rabol Orachio (WT, GT, FI, and PT only), but anything with all 4 slots is good, and I'd say for WT, you want to make sure you at least have a head slot for a Har / Quick or Har / Smart, and an arm slot for an ATP-boosting unit. Like your weapons, you'll want one of each element with as high a % as you can get.
*EDIT* - TheAstarion kinda got to it before I could finish writing this post. ^^;

Ok, I have good armour now. Is sleep/resist for WB worth 790k? 'Cause that's the lowest I can find.
If you are bad at physically dodging the light balls, then yes, it is worth it. Sleep can really slow you down in that mission since it deprives you of getting attacks in, so not having to worry about it is ideal.

If you're able, do quick runs on Forest Infiltration C for a better deal.

I wish they'd fix armor so that 50% might zero out sleep tech damage...at least for MST+++ types.

I believe the Granahodora is the best wand available right now, although pretty much any of the S rank ones are fine. The Kubara "clone" versions are better suited for buff spells though, since they have more PP.
If you can't use or afford any S rank wands yet, some A rank wands I'd suggest are the Majimra, Serdote, or the Magical Wand if you're using a female character.
If you want a good Tech-MAG to pair with it, I'd go with a Ranpegi. A fully grinded Shato is better than a fully grinded Ranpegi, but you'll probably have to shell out a lot more money for one.
Again, I highly suggest you use the site's Item Database (http://www.pso-world.com/items/psu/) to look this stuff up on your own; there's a link to it at the top of the site. I can't really tell what equipment would be best for you without knowing your own character's stats.

In order for Resta to get experience and level up, it has to heal at least 1 HP on at least 1 friendly target when you cast it.
I'd say one of the best places to level Resta is to solo White Beast on C rank. At the last room, kill all the enemies, but leave the Barta turrets intact. Then, just stand in the middle of them and spam Resta with your wands/tech-mags. When you run out of PP, just use the recharge cube beside the boss portal, or pop a Cosmo Charge. You're limited only by the time and meseta you have.
This location also makes a good "buff party" location as well. If you decide to go this route, again set the difficulty to C rank, lock the party until you reach the end, then edit your party comment to something like "Buff/Resta Party, don't finish the mission or destroy the ice turrets." Then just unlock the party and spam buffs/Resta on each other ad nauseum, again using the recharge cube as necessary.
While I'm at it, to level Reverser, you have to remove at least one negative status effect on at least on friendly target. One way to do this quickly is to go to Hill of Spores or Dancing Birds and stand on the areas where there's smoke coming out of the ground that inflicts Confuse on you. Then, just spam your spells (make sure to use Resta every once in a while so you don't die!). The downfall to this is that you'll have to run in and out of the level to recharge, as I don't think there's a good place that has a recharge cube nearby, though I may be wrong.
