So far as I can remember, it's only because of Karen's duty as the Divine Maiden that's preventing a hookup. Beyond that, they've gone through the traditional RPG love jebangle. I really don't know why their story hasn't been finalized.

Sure is has. The end of Ep3 had them floating in space toward the giant, semi-transparent image of Karen's dead sister. WHat's not final about that?
