Make your own waffles / pancakes, the final frontier.

Your heat was too high...
So it cooked too fast, and didn't give the pancake a chance to cook on the inside.

What?

Did you use a proper pan? I'm not sure what the English word for it is but here in my country we have a specialized pan with low, flat bottom that's meant for high temperature cooking and is great at dividing heat.

Oh wait, I only just now realized you were talking about thick, American pancakes. In which case, Volcompat is probably right. You need to set it a bit lower and remember to FLIP 'em.

I imagined a griddle with a handle.

Don't "what" me.
The heat on the STOVE was too high for the pancake.
People often use this on eggs too, and burn, or under-cook them.

I know the kind of crepe-like pancakes you are talking about, and they are delicious.

I also love krum kaka.

pancakes are like waffles except worse

French toast is like the cooler, more delicious cousin to waffles and pancakes.

Unless I'm in a waffle kind of mood. Then the roles are reversed.

I enjoy pancakes, but I've never had any great love for them.

We can't tolerate this waffling around of your opinion, Outrider. You must make a choice!

Waffles suck to spread butter on. They are great for the syrup pores though.

Norway claims a pancake that is virtually identical. I would guess that the big difference relies in the traditional toppings and mode of consumption. Tell me, do you roll yours up, before eating them?

Also, do you have an equivalent to Krum Kaka (http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e358/VanGarrett/220px-Krumkaker.jpg)?

We do, but it's not as traditional. And we do roll up ours unless it's a very big one from a restaurant, we use syrup and powdered sugar(or other random stuff like ice cream like above pic). Some people add bacon, apple or banana.

We also have these, poffertjes;

These are really like small american pancakes, we use powdered sugar and butter.
