I have wireless internet via US Cellular. All I would need to connect to nintendo wifi connection is a router, right?

So long as its over an unsecured network, then yes. But if it's secured even remotely well, the DS won't be able to pick up the signal/access it and then you wouldn't be able to play online with it (and don't take a DSi's system update for being able to play online on a DS game; they can actually access higher security connections than the games can, so while you can SU on a slightly secure connection, you couldn't play any games over it).

It's not as bad as it sounds. The DS can handle WEP/WPA but the newer technologies it cannot. You can put a long password (WEP?) on your router & the DS can handle it. I have no idea if the DS will store the password once you enter it, you'll have to figure that out.
