"PS-The Life and Times" subgallery in my gallery. >.<

I now has a Tumblr account. Blog that has no name (http://mirror-alchemist.tumblr.com) is basically my image dump and short ideas about my other characters.

My main love is digital, using Bamboo Fun and Paint Tool SAI. But recently, I've gotten into traditional with colored pencils. This is moreso of a hobby for me, but I'm trying to not look like complete crap >o>. Tips are fine, just not flat out criticism, I can't take those too well.

As usual, you can try to ask to have me draw your character, but it goes like
procrastination > females (with visual reference) > headshot > any other subject

I like the first one a lot. Well, actually, I like them all; the way you drew the characters gives them a flowing, elegant form. And the colored drawings, for some reason, make me feel all happy and fuzzy inside (I guess it's because of the bright colors you used on them). Good job!

Are you just using a mouse? Eesh, I did that for awhile and it was super painful. My hand would cramp up like crazy. You should get a tablet! They're great.

Newegg has a handful for under $100, and you can probably find similar prices on Amazon. They might not be the best (there aren't any full-sized Wacoms at that price), but it might be good as a starter tablet.

Regardless - I'm extra impressed that you're doing this kind of work using just a mouse.

I dub thee a thumbs up. The nose looks a little off to the side, but it's no big deal. I also have trouble doing frontal shots, cuz of getting symmetrical proportions on facial features. I should do one sometime this week. ^^

Good try though! Now it's time for you to draw lower body and legs. If you have problems with drawing those, try for once to draw the skeleton first in an underlying layer, and after that sketch the body over it.

^Um, in anime they are! haha. A humans face isn't asymetric to an obvious extent... unless you get in a car crash and one side of your faced is fuckd! XD blehe.

I think that Ami should keep trying to draw the top half until Ami feels comfortable with the style/proportions, then work her way down! Though, sometimes in body shots that you do Ami, I notice that your heads come out bigger. This indicates a greater emphasis that you do feel better at drawing heads. You will get the hang of adjusting. Until then goodluck and hope you don't mind my suggestions. x)

...i never thought of this before, but considering how things are between Sakura Ikanita and Linka in the winter vacation RP thread, think you can do a pic of the two hugging? i can give the details of their looks, based on in-game details right now, so hold on asec.

Linka's got pink hair, with the hairstyle being number 60 on PSPo2 vanilla, with the hat being green, being average height, maxed bust, green hanaura set, and a newman. oh, and Linka has no face module.

meanwhile, Saku's alittle taller, a cast, same bust, pink hair, cast style 42 hairstyle with accessory 5, gimnael torso CV[red on sides, sky blue in middle stripe], Epicarel legs CV[most of lower legs are that same blue], RAcaseal arms[mostly red here], the newman-style 'ears', and face module type 5.

if you really want, do one of the two kissing. they be in love, nao. >.>...what? Saku's alittle more 'human-like' than other casts cause she's designed to partially run off actual live human organs.

Yeah you see both of Nagisa's eyes at the end of chapter one so hence the spolierish part. Her green eye I had more trouble with, in some screens it looks green, in others a gray blue D:

Hmm, counting my procrastination, being sick, and personal stuff going on 3 weeks. But actually working on it?.....hmmm 3-4 days. It's not surprising I would sit at the computer until nightfall working on something. I'm either that dedicated or have waaaay too much time on my hands XP.

I think this is both your best drawing and coloring so far :-)

102 layers is a bit much though. Besides making coloring more time consuming, it's also very taxing for your computer. You'de be better of with higher resolutions or 16-bit color. Try bringing down the amount of layers will make your life easier.

I normally don't use that much on average. Average is about 10-40. 102 is due to 4 characters x 3sets/folders of each one. And then two weren't even used for the final upload because they were there for me to see my coloring better. Trying to color paleish skin on a white background is D:

But yeah, I'm not making it a habit. Especially since I've begun to start working in higher resolutions. That particular one I worked in the dimensions you see. Zoom is a wonderful tool @~@. I've been looking up tutorials online to see where I can merge layers in my drawing/coloring process to lower the memory load on my computer. It shouldn't take a couple minutes to save my work D:

If you have photoshop you can take a look at how I layer my art. I think I am pretty efficient when it comes to layers. I also used to get into 100's of layers when I started using photoshop. Most important to remember: As long as you're not gonna overlap something you already colored, there is no need for new layers. I mostly use layers for different effects and layer blending styles like burning and dodging.

Hmm, I think the only hard part is adjusting the layers' opacity enough so that everything flows together. That and when I have to do color adjustments using filters. Well, to me that is.

I haven't been working on it as much, since I got a new sketchbook last weekend and a new pencil set. So I've been just doing pencil work @~@.

Yay thanks. I've been looking at a lot of references and tutorials about faces also I kinda study people's faces when I talk with them and apply that to my work. And yeah I do see the differences too, which makes me happy. I honestly didn't think that I improved that much

You always improve slowly and every now and then you get some burst of improvement (most of the time by changing your ways of drawing)

Also I spent time working on "The Life and Times" (http://mirror-alchemist.deviantart.com/gallery/27152068) a fanfic detailing Ami's past from PSU all the way to PSPo2i. I finally finished uploading it a few days ago so I feel proud of myself. This is the first time I've completed a story and uploaded it all.
