Do you celebrate it?
I was invited to a Kwanzaa party on the 26th of December, and I'm not sure if I should go.

Anyway, what are your thoughts?

You should totally go!

I love Kwanzaa! Wait... or do I?

I know of the holiday, but I have no idea what it's about...
Going in totally ignorant.

All I know is it's an African American holiday...

Free booze is always nice though.

Instead of doing some research beforehand or asking your hosts.

You should totally go. If you feel uncomfortable, let your friend know that you're going in blind, but that you'd love to learn more about it.

Going to a party and learning about different cultural celebrations = FUN TIMES.

I definitely agree!
I would actually love to learn about it.

Went to a Cape Verdian funeral/viewing once with a friend... holy shit!
I was surprised to know they keep the dead body in the house for a week, party, and kiss the hands of the deceased.

I had to kiss a dead mans hand out of respect.

But yea, hopefully we can learn some stuff, and maybe even meet a few nice ladies!

And HAYA, I was mostly joking around about going in totally ignorant! :D

You ever been to a party with a bunch of black people? It'll be a lot like that except there should be candles somewhere and a festive mention at some point.

For some reason I was thinking Kwanazaa was Chanukah. I'm sure I spelled them both wrong. In either case I thought to myself for both of those, people have parties for those?

They both use a sort of candelabra.

I don't like your "jokes" :D
I don't understand why you made the topic :???:
I don't think this is a blog atmosphere.

(you still haven't researched it!)

People that talk about it all day but don't be about it or do it. Your generation of drunkards.

Does it make me a bad person that this was the exact mental image I had when I opened this thread?

Maybe.

Then again, I'm the one who not only thought that, but also posted it, so...
