View Full Version : JP PSP2 vs. EU/NA PSP2
For those who seriously can't seem to stop. I've stopped a while ago, and I'll just state some facts:
- NA/EU gets more drops added to several missions and (unconfirmed) higher drop rates
- JP gets DLC, which is paid for via PSN
- That being said, the NA/EU doesn't have official access to DLC but can still get the DLC missions (not sure how here)

LOL JP version gets all kinds of exclusive stuff like PSN items, special events, moar stuff and SEGA cares LOLOLOLOLOLOL
LOL SO, US/EU has higher drops that it's easymode LOL Only real elitists play JP and earn drops LOLOLOLOLOL
...That will pretty much be the generic responses to this thread. Have fun with that.
God damnit, Ren, you just had to spoil the meaning behind this topic.
Both sides are retarded to an extent. Both sides have evidence for their argument.
BUT NEITHER SIDE IS RIGHT. GET OVER THIS.
I for one only back the 3 facts. Also, I forgot to mention this but flamers will be ridiculed and made fun of. And be PEW PEW PEW'd by the BB gun of death. Yeha.

Not trying to flame or whatever but I kinda fail to see the point in this topic myself. In a perfect world both versions are the same and everyone is happy. In our real world of the divided Segas we face the facts that the game isn't exactly like the other. Doesn't really make one better than the other. Bigger fan-base = more incentive to add things that players might pay for. Smaller fan-base = change in rates to reward faster, drop in extra content replaced by certain things being added elsewhere.
If it wasn't for the DLC workaround I'm betting some issues with this versus match would be null and void. Just my two cents though since I keep seeing the US vs JP thing like in every other post I look in.

I see it simply as: The US/EU version is better to me, because I can actually fucking understand what it says. Plain n' simple, no?

That's the reason right there, to divert that stuff away from those places and in here.

Yep, even though I already mentioned most of the reasons that the flame war is all about :-P

Pretty much yeah, but for some reason some US players prefer to play the JP version over the readable one simply for the reason that, as mentioned in my der post above, its not set in 'easymode'
Tis a strange group of people they are. Oh well.

So what, not understanding the game text makes you in "cool mode?"
I admit i play some jp games in my day but they DO NOT REQUIRE my complete understanding of the language to play it. (see rythmn game) That seems just damn goofy to me

According to PSUpedia, the DLC codes can be used on the U.S. version. I have no clue if 100% unlockable, but atleast some of it's there. Only thing missing is the exclusive missions. But that's just an add-on for those who know how to do it.
Nothing missed. Topic unnecessary. Unnecessary rant. All problems solved?

Actually no. The point of this topic is to bring all of those rants into here, and not other threads where they shouldn't fester.

Yep, and maybe, just maybe, this thread will still be available when the US/EU versions of Infinity come out. Then the hate can start anew.

It'll probably be in late 2011/early 2012 then, considering how SEGA love to spend their time to even announce that they've started work on a translation.
Of course, the translation could come out incredibly quick, but I doubt it. A good example of the problem is Yakuza 3's rushed translation that came out a year after the Japanese original, of course it didn't ruin the game but some people complained about the pointless cut content.

Sega could do translations a lot faster than they do, I'm pretty sure. I mean, Infinity's been a complete game for, how long, over 6 months now? I'm certain that's enough time for Sega to be working on translating the game and even start shipping translated copies around the globe.
I mean, while Sakai is out and about campaigning for Infinity and releasing all these teaser trailers, etc., you'd think they'd have a team working on translations. Hm, If it wasn't for their blatant Japanese favoritism, then it would be a good possibility.

Was, actually.
Every few posts, she would remind us of how easy it is for US/EU to get drops at low level, how she hated it, yadda yadda yadda. And of course, said US/EU players, myself included, would retaliate by saying that the JP version had more support and extra stuff from SEGA and to basically say STFU when the JP have it made. This in turn drew way too much negative attention to her that she finally just stopped her rant.
Now, we just look back at it and laugh, especially since every once in a while, that rant will rise again from another player. In a way, this thread started a bit late from that point in time, so it's not so much as the OP ranting, but rather bringing up old news.

IMHO, only reason why we got all those things is because to *compensate* for lack of support, lack of dlc... and heck, just lack of care that JP one gets! I'm actually surprised that we even got THAT much out for our version.

I haven't played the US version, but I feel that the easier drops thing is actually something unwanted, since it feels like I'm playing a compulsory easy mode of a game, i.e, less possible game time, and less of a feeling of satisfaction when you finally get some uber rare item.
And together with the pretty lousy translation (from the little I've seen on YouTube, context wise some characters behave a lot differently than they did in the Japanese version, and they get extra dialogue in the game itself that wasn't there in the original), and lack of voice acting in the story dialogue scenes, people definitely have reason to find that the Japanese version is superiour, so I agree with that.

Actually, I think its just cause no one cares or had known that you could get the DLC anyway etc (considering lack of translation and the like). ;)
And the easier drops is probably to cater to western audiences who might get turned off by the poor drop rates.
Although this is not the case for all games of course, some games are actually made harder in the US version.
But since its SEGA, who knows what they were thinking, besides SEGA itself. :)

I believe this is quickly turning into something it isn't. This isn't a "hate group" as you put it Wayu, I simply agreed with what was said in a post by Ce'Nedra, and instead of posting it on the thread (where it was directed to this topic anyway) I simply agreed on his profile. Don't take it so serious. I just know I see you mention shizuru and his US drop rate quite a bit. It was amusing at first but now it's kind of annoying. I don't want war. Lets keep this peaceful.
You do know that your 'simple statement' is not valid, right? Step down, boy. The war's already over; deal with it.
War is lethal. Don't start it.

Wow. Relax Wayu. This is the internet. WHY SO SERIOUS? This wasn't ment to start war, it was a simple comment over you repeated mentioning of the shizuru drop rate.
Although, even after you made an entire thread dedicated to this problem, you STILL mention it in other threads. That I do find amusing.
If it's the internet, why'd you start it? Then again, Ce did but whatever.
Simple comment, hm? Then why are my 'simple comments' on the fact that the US/EU version has Shizuru drop T-Hyori so offensive to you.
WHY SO SERIOUS? <-- right back at ya.
I mention this topic in other threads to divert rants HERE, where it's actually a rant topic.
I don't want to drag this out any longer, but chances are you and Ce are going to, so, once again:

This is only to answer what you said: I didn't start it, as already stated.
Your comment isn't offensive, just annoying that I've seen it from you so many times (this didn't happen over night)
But to end this...I digress...
You win, Shizuru sucks.

Let's not get jumpy here & start any unnecessary fightz. Wayu may have overly stated the obvious, but if anyone was in her shoes I bet they would react the same.... mostly. I know how irritating it is to farm some rare junks, from my own personal experience from other less-forgiving RPG's in the past.
At least she isn't going around spewing random fires or genociding(???) her PSP over it.
So giver her a break.
And Wayu, you did come off as a little too obsessed with this whole drop rate thing. It's just a game, darling. Just let it go. And have some Ketchup (or Catsup!!!11). Its naturally mellowing agent will help you realize that it's not that big of a deal in the end.

Of course Shizuru sucks. Hell, he's the main reason this thread exists. He's the main cause of all this. That genderless bastard is tearing us apart. But this is isn't the place to spread peace. This is the place to enact upon our moral hatreds towards the other region's game.
So pretty much all of you, yes even you Wayu, must stop bringing it up in the other threads. It only continues if you feed the fire.
I just said that Shizuru doesn't drop T-Hyoris in the JP version and Ce jumps all over it.
Uhhh...
US drops. If you got those on the JP version I'd be impressed.
That wasn't intended in any way to be offensive. Possibility differences.

In the end, this is the internet. So for the sake of having some peace, let's just acknowledge that these differences exist, but be silent about it. Don't let others get you down for being right/wrong when speaking about the other side.

Actually didn't see this. I agree wholeheartedly. It's just the little talking-behind-my-back thing that got to me.
Rumors, talking behind backs, backstabbing, they all fall into the 'nonproductive' category. Lethal did the right thing and talked, and I respect him/her for making that crucial step.
I WAS obsessed with the drop rates. I don't want to quote my first post again. I'm done with it. Clean. Neato? Right. Now can I simply mention the trade-off between the two versions without peeps flaming me left and right? KTHNXBAI.

Best way to make the flames stop? Don't bring it up.
Besides, Infinity is coming out in a month. What would any of this matter when the expansion is out?
No, it wouldn't, with Infinity's impossible-to-figure-out drops and all.
Well, sure, okay. That's basically saying "don't mention the word 'drop' at all" (which would defeat the purpose of Finds and Accomplishments threads) but sure.
It's like saying the word 'money' in the middle of LA, then (has happened to me before). You never know when you might get mugged.

Of course we can mention drops, otherwise that would defeat the purpose of the entire game. Just not a peep about the irritation about the regional differences.
