View Full Version : PSPo2: Maybe I should just quit... Goddang Disconnects

Seriously, the frequent disconnection is starting to irritate me whenever it happens.

I join a party, and before I can even say "Hello!" from Quick text I get.... Network Error!

I join a party, we make it all the way to boss, and happily pummels it, then when it's almost dead I get... Network Error!

I join a party, the host starts a tactical, we merrily goes thru, then all of a sudden I or someone gets... Network Error! Fission mailed!!

Ok, so it's not THAT frequent, but MAN! It's still one too many. I didn't mind all that disconnects, until I realized that no mission completion = no type points... while normal exp can be easily accumulated by just beating things with a stick, even if you fail the mission or get disconnected. So my character level slowly rises while my type level is stuck going no where.

My PC & PS3 sit further away from wireless modem than my PSP, but those don't have a problem like this. I'm beginning to think that PSP really shucks.

Offline mode? Yeah, sure, I would play more of those if one death with no scape doll didn't mean instant fail. Seriously, what am I suppose to do when all the monsters just love to hop/run/fly around everywhere then snipe me from behind when I'm preoccupied with another one... And don't get me started on those dumb NPC's. I thought they would at least make a good meat shields, but somehow they end up side-stepping when there's a projectile-of-doom heading my way.

I still love this game and want to play it till I turn into a fleshless corpse, but at this rate I'm gonna just explode into million gallons of goo.

Tch, I know the feeling. I've gotten randomly DC'ed from Urgent Missions before.

Holy shit, was I angry.

I don't know about venn2010, but I have great internet, and my room is only about 20 feet away from our router. Trust me, it's got nothing to do with that.

PSP2 is an amazing game. I just think that the problem is mainly that Phantasy Star needs to get a better developer....*cough*.

I would assume there's some kind of interference. Of course that's always the case with a wireless connection. I don't personally like them, mostly because they seem more prone to dropping when you don't need them.

Possibly might be interference. I do have my laptop on 5 feet away from where I play. And, if my Xbox (one of the new "slims", so it has Wi-Fi) is on, then there's yet another thing also sending/receiving information.

Only thing is, my Xbox and laptop never drop connection. But, then again, they probably have better pickup that a measly PSP. I'll have to experiment with all of it sometime.

Get Infinity.

So far, zero lag on multimode.

Uh, I thought that the online wasn't even working on Infinity yet? Even when it is active, I can't play it, as I don't have access to the JP PSN.

Also, I have the demo, as I'm sure you already realize.

It's not working yet, but seeing as how multimode has zero lag I'd imagine adhoc mode's DC issue will be resolved somewhat.

Get better internet.

NO U.

Seriously, my internet is great. Like I said on my first post, my PC or PS3 has zero problem like this game does. And my room is even less than 20 feet from my router.

And I'm in same boat as Olaf. No JP PSN. So no Infinity, until state-side release.

Well, you can still DL the Infinity demo. Just go to the PSOW homepage and follow the instructions on the top news article.

You'll just be very confused by the Japanese language, unless you know it.

This.

And sadly, no dice. I do not speak Japanese.

I don't understand a lick of Japanese, either (though I really, really wish I did, but I can't learn another language for shit), but you get used to it after a day or so. It's got the same menu interfaces as PSP2, so if you're familiar with those menus, then you should be able to navigate the game pretty well. That's how I did it.

People say, "FUCK JAPANESE" and don't bother to even attempt to learnt the absolute basics (all that is needed for PSPo2i), but if you even GET it and LOOK at it, you're learning.

The learning curve is nowhere near as steep as people say.

It's just that the actual writing itself is frightening to look at if you're used to the Arabic-style alphabet (A-Z), as it looks like nothing but a jumble of nonsensical squiggles.

I've started to learn what certain items are based only on the fact that they have the same squiggles in the same location (such as Visual Units). As for actually attempting to learn the basics needed to play Infinity properly, I don't think I could do it. My mind has a very hard time analyzing and learning complex things like languages, written or spoken. What venn2010 says below is pretty true:

It's easier for some people while difficult for others.

That's subjective. It's easier for some people while difficult for others. Just because you could doesn't mean everyone else can.

And don't tell me I didn't try.

My sister actually said same thing you just did... but many years ago. Well, good for her. And you. I don't care.

Besides, why are we going off-topic? I wasn't complaining about me being unable to speak Japanese, hence being unable to play the game earlier with demo/imports. And how do you know it'll be fixed with this new version? Maybe it's hardware limitation and there's not a lick that SEGA can do anything about it.

I think that no one should quit and that Sega should advertise so that they could pay for more bandwidth on there servers, hell more servers just to begin with, and ones that have fans built in.
