Attention, GUARDIANS & Demo GUARDIANS --

This notice is to inform our users that the demo service for Phantasy Star Universe on the Xbox 360 will be shut down as of March 7th, 2011.

The demo has been active for over four years, since before the launch of the full game, and has been useful in introducing many people to Phantasy Star Universe. We want to thank everyone who has participated in the demo. While the demo has been a valuable tool, it is no longer feasible to maintain and support, and we wish to focus our full efforts in maintaining and supporting the full version, including regular content updates.

If you have played and enjoyed the demo, now is an excellent time to move to the full version. It is available for purchase on Microsoft Games on Demand, and you can upgrade to the AOTI expansion for free.

If you’ve only played the demo, now is a great time to upgrade to the full version. You will receive access to dozens of additional missions, additional difficulty levels, hundreds of additional weapons and items, and the full story mode, not to mention a full slate of updates and events yet to come.

You are all welcome to discuss this here but please keep from trolling and please be reasonable and follow our rules, or we'll have to close the thread :)

Well it's about time. It's more than run it's course, but realistically, how much was this really holding them back from providing attention to the full version? :nono:

Anyways, farewell Phantasy "Spam" Universe demo.

It's like that time they shut down the PC/PS2 servers to concentrate on the 360 ones and get our content back on tra....

So, guess I'm not introducing my friend to PSU after all.

Thanks, Sega. Continue giving shitty support to the main game, demo or not. We all know that's what's gonna happen anyway.

The demo doesn't even come close to doing the full game justice anyway. Better to just look up gameplay videos.

According to other people, you don't even play nor own the game, so what gives you the right to bash it?

What gives you the right to stick up for Sega when you have not played on the servers in over a year.>>

Not really, no. Showing him how combat works, how to synthesize things in general, and just getting him used to playing the game in general can't be done through watching videos.

Sure, I can go watch a ton of golfing videos, but is that going to make me understand the game or become good at it? Doubtful.

No more lazy folk sitting around on the 4th and
scamming in Raffon :D but for those of you on
the 360 who didnt notice, a number of people
from the demo switched over between now and
the time when the demo first went "offline"

I just got off my Xbox, and the demo was still up as of 4:00 AM EST. I had been on it for a few hours, with some friends.

But, yes, we talked to a couple of people (regular people, not pr0n sellers) who said they plan on getting the full game very soon.

...and then there were other people who didn't believe us when we said that Sega was shutting down the demo for good. Lulz were had at their expense. They will be sorely disappointed when they can't log in.

I posted this i the comment section of the news but i'll put it here to.

It took longer then i thought really. i'm curious as to what will happen next, i mean they haven't updated it so that means they have just let it run pretty much. i don't see how them taking it down will let them focus solely on the full version when they didn't do anything to the demo as it is. an omen of sega getting ready to close the plug? or maybe they are simply killing it to save a few bucks on the power bill?

At least I play (I still play offline) and own the game.

and the term "i still play offline" just killed your power in the topic.

Could this possibly be a sign that they have zero interest in attracting new players (and don't want a maintain a server that brings in $0)? I have a feeling that 2011 might be the last year for PSU seeing as they'll probably announce PSO 2 for consoles this year (it would make no sense to have it PC only when you have MMOs on consoles already and this audience right here). Their efforts will probably focused on getting Xbox 360 players switched over at the end of the year (if PSO 2 even comes out this year).

this should have been shut down ages ago. Actually playing the Demo originally turned me off to purchasing a guardians licence in the beginning. Then I figured I'd give the game a try and stayed subscribed for a long time. This piss poor state of the demo was such a bad representation of the game. Glad to hear it's going.

Oh that's right, they closed down finally at 12 so I heard. To all the actual people who switched over to the real game. Welcome to a better version of a game you've been playing. To the rest of you pic sellers and porn mongers...

I was kind of surprised that the demo servers just went down. Or more so, the announcement for the dropping of the demo servers took me by surprise. I actually thought they took them down last year.

First off, that made me lol.

On topic though, it was definitely long overdue. I don't think many more new players will be attracted to downloading the demo anyway and if you've been playing the demo for 4 years........well......sorry.

Thanks, Sega. Continue giving shitty support to the main game, demo or not.

Now now, who knows....maybe next week they may add a new boss....I'm thinking another de-ragan reskin but this time he will be.....purple and green. And you can look forward to getting some awesome stelnium or kerseline for beating him on an S4 run.

was anyone else thinking sega was going to close the xbox servers because of the quake?
i hears squenix has shut down ff11 and ff14 servers to conserve the power for the country. i was actually shocked they didn't announce this for psu.
ahh never mind, i see the thread now.

Don't think so. As the Xbox 360 servers are in San Fran. Last time I checked, anyways.

Akaimizu
Mar 15, 2011, 03:11 PM
Yeah. They're in San Fran. We heard about it actually during one of the *server issues* they had, a while back. There was a one time thing where there was some kind of roll-back due to it. And yep, it was a San Fran server.

People on the demo sell... well erm wrong images, surely the players that come to the full version of the game will continue with those actions they did on the demo. What im saying is that the players that come from the demo will cause more spammers and more people asking for meseta(everyone can earn easily) people will start quitting canceling subscriptions =/ if you've been on the demo you'll know what I mean..:-?

I did play the demo... for a little bit. Got my character up to lvl 46 before I quit and bought the full game. And I got to that level by grinding missions, not by using the machine gun glitch. I never got the glitch to work for me.

NEVER!

And I tried to machine gun glitch... I really did!!

Now please close this thread... the demo is dead, and who knows what they did with the actual physical servers that it ran on.
