I've been meaning to cover some Phantasy Star music, and I finally got around to it with Violation, the awesome dungeon music from Dezo in PS II. I also drew Nei and Neifirst for the video, since I try to get game-specific art for each series I do.

Please give it a listen, and let me know what you think. I also now have Excite Town, hopefully with Silent Zone to follow.

And here's the PS III shrine theme.

Good work. Nice way you build up the instrumentation and then take it down at the end. About halfway into this, I could close my eyes to imagine the kind of environment I would be in hearing this. The choice of synths really help to imagine some of the technological-dream aspects for which I think PSII was shooting for at times. I often felt the original PSII music seemed a bit low on the instrumentation for what it was going for. Which makes it a great soundtrack to remix in attempts to more fully realize the work. This reminds me of some work during the Amiga days. Psygnosis was known for using similar instrumentation in games like Shadow of the Beast or Agony. Stuff that really works here. Keep going with this stuff, you have an ear for it.

Thank you both very much. I definitely agree that PS II was evocative in many ways, not least in the music. It's a fantastic soundtrack that I just don't see covered enough.

Also, I finally got Excite Town finished. I just love the Dezo areas (not just in II) so I have to get Silent Zone at some point.

That Violation remix would be perfect backround music for a cutscene (if phantasy star 2 was more modern) It feels like there should be some kind of plot building happening while its playing.

Thank you very much! I would just be happy if Violation were used more in the game at all. It really got my attention the first time I heard it. It has a very driving feel that demands attention. I was definitely trying to capture that intense, sort of hypnotic feel it has.

Oh, and I also added the PS III shrine theme to the original post.

Just finished this one today (or finished finishing it, since I can't quite seem to get the mix right!). I wasn't always really crazy about Power, but I guess it's the Nei connotations, because it's been growing on me.
