Was the American Revolution a good thing? Some would say no.
The people who are most protected by government is the ones with the least recourse, the slaves. If it had remained a colony it would have gotten rid of slavery faster than it had done before, France would not have bankrupted itself winning the Revolution for America probably dealing with the most bloody phase of the French revolution, the American Civil War would never have happened.

It certainly makes me wonder how much later the first machine gun would have been invented if there was no Civil War.

ShinMaruku

The Frano Prussian War was not a Civil War.

I don't think Dr.Gatling would have bothered inventing a gun that killed better for a war that wasn't affecting him in any way.

The Truth resists simplicity. A simple truth on how rare a simple truth really is.

The only reason France did it was to strike a blow against England. For them it was a gamble, just one that didn't work out.

Civil War is rooted in the sins of greed and sloth. The few profiting off the many witch still goes on to day.

The problem is people. Always has been always will be.

Thus it could be argued that in the long term run that war could have been a wash.
But people will be left behind, it's just evolution.

The revolution huh? Long trips to and fro and always waiting for a message that could be destroyed by the sea! Anything could happen.
