How do I get my PSU chat logs to display Japanese characters? I can type and save in JP but my chat logs are written in some gibberish 最初大変かもわからんけど. I can't seem to find anything relevant on Google yet.

Way I do it is by running Notepad with Applocale.

That actually makes no changes for me. I don't quite understand the latest version of App Locale. The version I downloaded last year gave me no problems and didn't require preloaded programs from a menu each time to work.

The logs are encoded in Shift-JIS. Switch to that.

I don't own MS Word, too expensive. I downloaded Notepad++ and Mike's method worked just fine.

I found out why Google didn't search correctly, I have some severe adware that sends all my random google searches to shopping websites 100% of the time now. I suck with computers so bad... :-?
