After losing one of my main characters and a good chunk of my rares, all becuz the memory card had problems and freakin' ST won't allow us to make back up copies of our characters....

Where's Sean at? I pity Sean, he's lost so many characters which were almost at 200.

It happens, but when you have friends who are there to help you when it does, it's not so bad.

Hell, having to start over isn't so bad. Don't let it frustrate you too much =)

I feel for you man, really i do.

I've been corruped not once, not twice, but 5, yes 5 times. Only 1 time was on it ST's part. all 4 other times, it was me being a dumbass and screwing with my router/gc connection settings.

It really isnt the end. All your rares, well you can get those back easily by having a duper get them for you if you care that much. Starting over is sometimes better like if ur gonna choose a new class.

I've made 4 different class characters each time and had alot of fun each time. I suggest you take ur memory card and make a new char. Somehing perhaps u havnt tried.

But being corrupted once is not the end of PSO. thats dumb, that just means u wernt even having close to as much fun. Try something new please!

here's a list of what i've lost "JUST ON GAMECUBE"

1. SedyneX930 (SKYLY) HUmar Level: 136
2. Sedyne X930 (ORAN) HUmar Level: 127
3. SedX930 (Yellowboze) HUcast Level: 87
4. Kim X930 (Pinkal i tink) FOnewearl Level: 93
5. SeanX930 (Pinkal) FOmar Level: 110

how many hours do think i had on their?

G let me think....well over 500 hours total because i also lobby lounge and chat alot.

my current character SeanX930 FOmar is level 140. I have 200 hours on him alone, and my hucast has about 50. Now you see why corruptions for you arnet even HALF as bad as mine...so get ur arse back on pso! and give it a whirl!

I realize losing your character may be frustrating and discouraging, but you do have to ask yourself why you play PSO. I know it may be easy for me to say,not ever losing any of my 6 characters since starting in November 2002, but if I lost any of my highest I would definetly stick with PSO4the love of the gameplay and friends.Make a new character, start form scratch, make sure you have a NINTENDO brand memory card, and also make sure your cat doesnt trip over your ethernet cord/phone-line while your file is saving. Hang in there!

Corruption is not an end as much it is a beginning!

I lost a lv 85 HUmar, but do you see me complaining? No! I'll never stop playing PSO, come FSOD, corruption, hacking, or what have you!

Thanks everyone for your support. I'll try to push this loss behind me and start on my next planned character (a Force). At least most of the rares were just ranger weps (since the character I lost was a ranger) and most of the other stuff that I care about I can just dupe (photon drops mainly) to get back.

Have you ever considered getting another memory card and just having the other one for off-line only? If I ever decide to go online, I will prolly do that. That way if I ever did loose all my characters, it wouldn't be so hard to recover (I'm fairly anti-social, so it prolly wouldn't be easy for me to meet people online :-/). I have a lot of fun playing off-line, so I wouldn't be bothered by keeping a card of characters off-line (I only buy those Nintendo ones that don't have a whole lot of blocks...which is ok...I only own two games anyway...which right after I got my Nintendo card my friend was trying to use his brand new Pelican card and his Gamecube wouldn't even read it, so unlike other systems I have, I will prolly only stay with 1st party cards...though I know I sure wouldn't touch anything with the Interact name on it...ugh...).

Anyway, just a thought http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wink.gif

I wouldn't be broadcasting that information so jauntily.(I think I used it in the right context) NEwho, duping is bad. Don't do it yo!

I don't like cheating, like most people, but I feel that one can make dupes to make up for what they have lost, which is what I'm going to do.

Tch, I lost a level 8 HUmar, a level 4 FOmarl, a level 2 HUcaseal, a level 2 RAcaseal, a level 3 FOmar...

... then I went out and brought a official memory card, and everything stopped corrupting. ^_^

(er... sorry) ^_^;

I was corrupted on my 1st day of PSO online, but I stuck with it. Yeah, I was majorly pissed off but I'm sticking with it now and have a even better HUcast than I did before.

I just lost all sympathy for you. Even if it's just to replace lost items, duping is still wrong. When you signed up for PSO, you signed a User Agreement. If you haven't read it, one of the things you agreed to do was not to duplicate items.

You want to replace your lost items? Do it the real way. Suck it up and move on. I have been corrupted three times on the GameCube version, and never did I stoop as low as to accept duped items. I'd hope - but I am starting to doubt - that you would have the intelligence to do the same.

You do know if you trade you have a 9/10 chance of getting a duped item right?

I was using the EMS USB mem card so I could make backups of the characters that I put on there on my computer in case if something happens. But, when I was making a backup, the program that works with crashed and messed up the memory card so I had to format it and after that I'd try to put the last backup I had of the character back on there but PSO keeps complaining that it's corrupted. And only PSO has problem with restored files on it, everything else works fine.

There's your problem right there.

Some guys on Gamefaqs had the same problem...they said the USB card will sometimes corrupt your card unless you reboot your computer before doing anything with it.

Ditch the card, get an official Nintendo 59 or 251, and you'll probably be much better off in the long run.

That's what I did, I found a spare 59 card made by Big N and started a new character on that. I then decided to keep all the important stuff that I won't need online on the card with my other character that I will just keep offline.

No no, Lupin the 3rd has a leer on his face, and of course he doesn't wear a stupid bag-hat or aviator goggles.

I should go change it into a pic of a hot chick or something...I like pics of hot hunnys.
