I'm quite wayward with Phantasy Star Universe. I've seen many players who are equipped with gears I've never seen before. Are there unique looks that you can get on the offline version?

In the offline version it's pretty limited so no.

Go to 5th floor HQ and click the 2nd option to go to the lobby counters, go to the 2nd page and pick ファルス・メモリア and that's Distant Memory, when you abandon, you'll have the lobby.
