I'm looking to upgrade and I'm curious as to what everyone else uses. Previously, I used Adobe's editing software but it wouldn't load the video I was trying to edit.

I've spent some time with Sony's Vegas (although it was several years ago it may have changed quite a bit since then) and Final Cut Express/Pro off and on. Both have their uses, though I feel Vegas is a bit easier to understand from the getgo compared to Final Cut's interface. Final Cut allows for some fancier tools right out of the box though, and from what I remember Vegas gave me a fit about needing to buy plugins to decode/encode some popular modern formats. Again though, that was a few years ago so Vegas may be better now.

If you want to spend some time with a new and beta piece of software, there's a great Open Source edition station called Lightworks (http://www.lightworksbeta.com/) that a lot of my film buddies have been raving about but I haven't done a project with it yet.

That does look pretty nice. I'll give it a try and look in to Final Cut as well.
