ZOMG techer stuff! And it appears the game will only have(at the start) 3 classes.

However, is that a skill-tree?

Having looked through it, here are some of the more blatent things I noticed:

Extensive customization!
Lip and eye shape customization!? (http://www.famitsu.com/news/201107/images/00047317/DMrA3Fc7uyJ8UfV9Oo3kkeuBo5E9V7jp.html)
Separate options for arm, leg, body, and bust shape/size customization!? (http://www.famitsu.com/news/201107/images/00047317/BKCH2VE6e75hkA2L6CNtCq78LeXo4nlV.html)
I can't even figure out what some of this stuff is! (http://www.famitsu.com/news/201107/images/00047317/MIZOUeokR4zJrGWaseENJoCVE41OLR4R.html)
Casts seem to have swappable parts! Does this mean fleshies will have clothes? (http://www.famitsu.com/news/201107/images/00047317/Ww2PPzkT2z21abupdz4d94966eR3RdwD.html)

Combat-y Stuff!
FOcast!? (purple and black cast with a cane or whatever in the back right) (http://www.famitsu.com/news/201107/images/00047317/MO24V74AwP2uvt715juOu69PN9REdRFZ.html)
This looks to be the custom combo thing. With some other stuff. (http://www.famitsu.com/news/201107/images/00047317/gYrG24C75U9A32xW2PQCYn7493Zb67bt.html)
A skill tree? (http://www.famitsu.com/news/201107/images/00047317/QA79342GHKwl65d8GZCFfqnIPEipW538.html)

Thus I conclude my pointing out of obvious stuff. Now can someone who speaks japanese translate some text out of this? ^^;

RemiusTA
Jul 26, 2011, 03:07 AM
...I've decided to compile a bit of information revealed to us in the video. This is mostly just small observations, seeing as i dont understand a lick of Japanese.

Battle System Observations

Multiparty Areas: PSO2 introduces Multi Party areas, allowing multiple parties at the same time. You can have up to 12 players in one area
And no, i do not believe they are NPCs. I could be wrong, but i just dont think they are.
- A few times, i see what LOOKS like an action pallete show up. Can't be sure though.
- The air combat physics seem to have been improved alot. Enemies also react better to hits than they did in the first video. Moves have been slightly altered since first video.
- A FEW animations have been changed. Can't say how much though. Safe to say, they're much better than PSU's animations by FAR.
-Enemies are very wonderfully animated.
-Stage hazards confirmed. Lava was all around the place in the caves area.

Hunter Specific

- Either 1) Sabers are Gunblades, or 2) there are sabers and gunblades. Not sure. But i saw a gunblade.
It looks like it works like a regular handgun, but has a special attack that does a 2-hit combo that ends in enemies being airborne, which you can then regularly shoot to keep them airborne for a neat looking combo.
- The new weapon (apparently called Wire Lance) seems to be a combination of whips with a bit of grappling. I saw at least two grapple attacks. During the one shown in the last batch of pics we have, the enemy damages others while being swung around. I believe all the PAs for this weapon will be grapples. They actually look awesome.

Ranger Specific

- Their battle focus has been coined "TPS", which simply stands for "Third Person Shooting". Im personally happy they didn't resort to FPS garbage.
- Honestly, they're the hardest for me to understand in the entire stream. I see what looked like Just Attack circle graphics that appear around them, but im not sure what it was for. Regardless, i saw at least 3 different types of gunfire. (burst, full auto, grenade shot)
**On second look, it seems to be just an indicator to let you know when to execute the shot in the combo. Im pretty sure this confirms that Rangers "combo" like they did in PSO. Also, i think it also may help with quicker reloading (Gears of War style), but im not sure.
- Yes, air shooting is confirmed.
- Yes, Casts can boost. They dont go all that fast, however....im not exactly sure what it's for.
-It looks like the boost lets them float across the ground. On first glance i thought Lag was causing the Racaseal to not move her legs, and later i noticed that she was simply gliding. Perhaps it's to avoid hazards? (like Lava, which is shown in the stage)

Forces (Oh yeah.)

Air casting confirmed
TELEPORTING confirmed. (Yeah. one of them jumped, then teleported. Kind of like if it was an air dash, except cooler because....well, she teleported.)

Technics seem to be...well, a slighly different flavor this time around. But, this is a good thing. First off, yeah, you can move and cast spells at the same time. You're allowed melee attacks, but we knew that already. 3 hit combo, looks like you can do one in the air as well. The same visual marker appears on your character for combo confirm, just like with Rangers.

Technics seem to flow a bit differently here. The player would press the Foie button, and then maybe a second or two later, it would fire from her cane. It seems like Force gameplay is focused on warmup time rather than cooldown on this entry.
***more spectulating, perhaps you can just Charge them now?

- I saw the force had her buttons set to Melee, Foie, (switch) Barta, and what looks like PSU's Gizonde-

Foie: Short warmup, shoots a non-tracking fireball in the direction your opponent was when you fire it.
Barta: same thing, looks like. Instead of a piercing projectile, it shoots an ice block, Final Fantasy style.
The zonde spell : PSU's gizonde.

Honestly, my video started screwing up around this part, so ask someone else about it :3

Resta is seemingly much slower this time around.

Character Customization

I really dont know what to say that you havent already heard. This blows PSO and PSU out of the damn water. You can cross-class-dress your characters, and customize what they wear on skin too, which probably means you'll be getting new outfits as you progress. Honestly, anyone worried about character customization should just stop worrying.

Random Crap

Monomates are no longer 1 frame anymore -- they have a consume animation. Mortality Rates will go through the f--ing roof.
YES, as we all suspected, the Rockbear will grab AND throw you. It looks like a pretty much instant kill if he gets ahold of a player, and the others perhaps are encouraged to make him let you go....? I guess they failed, because he murdered the Humar.
You can climb on the downed dragon this time around. And he can also launch you into the stratosphere.
Graphics look improved. And yes, either 1) the designs around the levels are so good i didn't notice, or 2) they removed that shitugly Forest ground texture from the stage. Everything looks significantly better.
I personally HEARD sakai say "high graphic mode" at the end of the cast. I dont know if he was talking about his aim for lower-end PCs, or if the game was running in High-Graphic mode during the show, or if it's yet to be shown or anyhting. Gotta get a translator. Bottom line though, yeah, they definitely improved the graphics. The new screenshots on the website should prove that easily.

Taking from the other thread I posted in:

Taking a closer look at the inventory screen leads me to believe there are now 3 attack values.
Red being melee, blue being shot, yellow being tech.

Reasoning: The gunblade has 102 red & 92 blue, none of the other weapons shown have blue.

Also leads me to think accuracy has been done away with. As I'm not seeing it on the weapon status. But I'm by no means fluent in japanese so i'd need confimation.

Malachite
Jul 26, 2011, 03:20 AM
Its official. There are PSU style lobbies in this game.

It looked to me more like a hybrid of PSU and PSO's lobbies, but leaning more towards PSO. They were bigger, and had shops, but nowhere near as big as PSU's and fell under a more PSO kind of look.

RemiusTA
Jul 26, 2011, 03:23 AM
It looks like PSU in the sense that it's huge, but PSO in the sense that there probably is only one of them.

It looks like it's simply Pioneer 2's setup, except you have the large community area (PSU's guardians colony or something), and then the smaller area for your 4-person party. In the video, there was a marker in english next to a teleporter that said "To next area".

And then, keep in mind, you're allowed to co-op with 3 teams of 4.

Malachite
Jul 26, 2011, 03:24 AM
Another little thing. I'm not sure if techs just straight up take longer to cast. I think you have to option to charge them or cast them quickly.

Vashyron
Jul 26, 2011, 03:27 AM
The whole party with 2 other group thing, unless it's not co-op I'd think it would be a good idea to have a choice to put up their details on the HUD as well? (Of course higher resolutions would benefit without having a cluttered screen.)

Since if they are your allies it would be good to know their health.

HyperShot-X-
Jul 26, 2011, 03:28 AM
This finally puts all the wrong and unimaginitive assumptions to rest about the party size of 4 just like the old PSO and all the white name chars to be NPCs. Was that so hard for you to imagine really? maybe if you post a little less and read others opinions more, it wouldn't be that hard.

Now moving forward, things I noticed on the vid:
- seems like game is not running anywhere near 60 fps, even in lobby from rotating camera shot
- old PSU lobby animations still intact.. o_o
- you can jump on top of grounded dragon boss
- seems way too much is going into char customizations then the actual game play physics(floating chars and stuffs)?
- fat, ugly rappies

RemiusTA
Jul 26, 2011, 03:28 AM
You're probably right.

You know what, you really are probably right, because in the video the times between her different casts were different sometimes. Her foie would take a second or two, but she'd turn around and then cast a gizonde and barta almost back to back.

And if you notice, everyone's doing 17's, 20's, 30's, maybe a 50 or two, and the force turns around and knocks 150's off enemies with Foie.

Malachite

Quite happy the other players did turn out to be actual players, bigger amount of NPCs to players would of been very strange imo.

It's not a force field, it's the "combo" indicator i was talking about in my thread.

If you remember in PSU, the same type of graphic appeared over the button you were pressing near your action pallete. I think it's the same deal, just over your character for easy seeing.

What i DONT know is why it turns red sometimes, though.

As for that blue thing behind them...i dont know what that is. In the stream, i was able to see people jump on the platform in the middle, but then it lagged and i didn't get to see what happened : /

drawback, we're going to get ALOT of ugly people running around now, too. If i ever get bored, i promise you im making a guy with the most DERP'y face imaginable, coupled with impossible body proportions.

I could argue that you should be able to customize your face to an exact replica of a trollface, under the argument that it adds variety.

Having looked through it, here are some of the more blatent things I noticed:

Extensive customization!
Lip and eye shape customization!? (http://www.famitsu.com/news/201107/images/00047317/DMrA3Fc7uyJ8UfV9Oo3kkeuBo5E9V7jp.html)
Separate options for arm, leg, body, and bust shape/size customization!? (http://www.famitsu.com/news/201107/images/00047317/BKCH2VE6e75hkA2L6CNtCq78LeXo4nlV.html)
I can't even figure out what some of this stuff is! (http://www.famitsu.com/news/201107/images/00047317/MIZOUeokR4zJrGWaseENJoCVE41OLR4R.html)
Casts seem to have swappable parts! Does this mean fleshies will have clothes? (http://www.famitsu.com/news/201107/images/00047317/Ww2PPzkT2z21abupdz4d94966eR3RdwD.html)

Combat-y Stuff!
FOcast!? (purple and black cast with a cane or whatever in the back right) (http://www.famitsu.com/news/201107/images/00047317/MO24V74AwP2uvt715juOu69PN9REdRFZ.html)
This looks to be the custom combo thing. With some other stuff. (http://www.famitsu.com/news/201107/images/00047317/gYrG24C75U9A32xW2PQCYn7493Zb67bt.html)
A skill tree? (http://www.famitsu.com/news/201107/images/00047317/QA79342GHKwl65d8GZCFfqnIPEipW538.html)

Thus I conclude my pointing out of obvious stuff. Now can someone who speaks japanese translate some text out of this? ^^;

The one you said you couldn't figured out,

First box was face wear looking stuff. Under it was your "section ID" logo. To the right is your skin color and body paint/tattoos .

It seems to me that the game is heading in the right direction now. The customization is beyond robust now & hopefully we won't see to many look alike now. Its good that ST is giving us info bit by bit but instead of looking & watching them play/work with the game, I want to hear from the gamers point-of-view of how the game is. The alpha testing should hopefully be around the corner with this much info released so it would be nice to see new things from people who doesn't work with ST/Sega.

Hoping theres more than three outfits per race at the start(no seriously... D<) Otherwise the customization would be perfect.

I'm still iffy on the lobbies, so far we've technically only seen one or two big ones. That new thingy where EVERY STEP in a mission is made randomly sounds crazy... I dunno if other games have done it before, but with this game being a dungeon crawler, It kinda revolutionizes things.

So now I guess I'm waiting to see if theres more than just one boring lobby... or multiple ones. I didn't see anything about "My Room" yet and hoping theres more than three clothes(I mean of course there would be, but still... they'd better look cool.)

Is there a reason 2 separate topics need to exist for the purpose of discussing the details of the same meeting? I know we're all excited but it's a bit of a nuisance to have to go back and forth between two different threads to keep up with people's various feedback/ideas over the exact same event that I thought was covered and dictated quite nicely in Mike's topic. Why not just keep all of this stuff in one thread?

May not happen. Considering that the primary reason for having a mag was to further customize your stats, it seems like there is no leveling system in this game. That concept of PSO-style mags might clash with the new system.

However, I don't see why mags can't take on another role.

I loved the new character creation. It looks in-depth as I had hoped. YES! They added scars and tattoos. I can finally make a character just the way I want. Pretty sure they will add much more clothes instead of just the default ones.

Yep multiparty areas just as we thought. Can't wait for that should be lots of fun. I also thought that RAcasts posture in that pic looked like he was skating in, turns out he was. Really makes me want to play a RAcast now. Teleporting as a Force could be fun, especially dodging projectiles with it. That Gizonde tech looks awesome. I like the color.

I actually liked the way the lobbies looked so far. The cave area looks awesome. I remember playing caves for the first time on DCv1 and being amazed but this is pretty sweet. LOL @ monsters grabing players and murdering them. Boss fights should be epic.

No character levels? I'll miss the big 200 next to my name but I'm cool with it as long as they do it right. No mags yet? Meh they really aren't needed as they were mostly for stat boost but I must admit I did like the visual effect they had. No beasts yet? This is still to early they can add them later. I was hoping for them but I can live without them. Not many weapons shown but I'm sure they'll come later.

I'm very pleased with the direction this game is moving.

I guess I'll mourn my beast WT and try a FOnewm or something like that... I kind of don't like classes tied to character, class changing was a nice thing.

I've noticed in the screens those nice lakes and water areas, but I think I'd be expecting too much if they would add swimming and water combat. But they added jumps so it would be awesome... But I won't have my hopes high for that.

Believe it or not, kiddo, girls and people in general actually like the option to have their character's body shaped exactly how they want.

I dunno about you, but I like my female characters "top-heavy." And I'm sure there are people who prefer their female characters with flat loli-chests too. Having an option for something is better than forcing everyone into the same thing. Don't get bent out of shape over it; I HIGHLY doubt it'll have anything to do with the gameplay itself...

Oversexualising is nothing new, does no-one remember the lingerie clothes set (or the set with the fishnet tights for that matter) for HUnewearl in PSO? True there was no slider in PSO but it's the same effect.

Personally I don't care either way about it; I could live without it but at the end of the day it's more options.

Actually, that's not even true. When changing the weight proportions of a female in PSO, the first thing that would change was JUST the boobs. Then, as you changed them more drastically, you would finally see the character gaining actual weight, rather than just boobage.

Like I said before, I love the direction this game is going so far visual design, gameplay, character customization, and music wise. Like others I hope for true "Global servers", and a US release.

My main concern remain that no MAGs have been shown as of yet. Now here's why I think mags should be in this game...

In my view MAGs are a great, unique aspect of PSO, and PSO2 should have them to really establish that it truely is a "successor" to PSO.
It's like every Final Fantasy game has Chocobos and moogles in some form, if their not present, something just seems kind of "missing" IMO.

I love how one can feed them certain items to raise specific stats, so they can give a decent stat boost, and aesthetically most of them look awesome; you can have your character have a tail, or little devil wings or angel wings, a Sato cat, an Opa Opa, Chu Chu Rocket cat, or Chu Chu Rocket Mouse, or some sweet looking Gundam-like Wing Fins or Bits that float behind your character which really enhances a character's visual look.

A Mag's Photon Blasts (when it learns the right ones, like Mylla-Youlla, and Pilla) can be life savers in the right moment when surrounded by a gaggle of enemies hacking at you.
So for these reasons, I think MAGs *MUST* be in the game IMO. Without them some of the "magic" of PSO would be missing if they are not in PSO2. Just my two cents.

Definitely.

But you can also say there might be...some more unique/less weapon types.

It's obvious they went with gunslash/gunblade as an early weapon type to cover both saber AND handgun...

I don't mind this as much and I can't see them going back to them until I'm shown otherwise. But I'll definitely miss handgun even though it always got kind of assed out by twin handguns or just other 1 handed guns being more useful in PSU.

Never mind the fact that every female character in that gameplay trailer (save for the force) was running around in bikini armor. Why cover your stomach when you can show it off! lol reputation. It's been like this since PSO. Also the female hunter showed lots of skin. Forces and Rangers, both human and cast, were very covered up for the most part.

So one gender and class type shows skin and they give the customization of the bust size for your character and the reputation of a very anime-influenced game is ruined?

Oh they can most definitely be all 4 of those things. But bitching about a slider that allows you to control their size in a CHARACTER CREATOR is just asinine. What, are they all supposed to just default to one size? I hope that kid is aware that female breasts aren't one-size-fits-all.

"O hey fans we allow you to alter absolutely EVERY aspect of your character's body, except for the breasts. You can't move her ass, either. No matter how fat or skinny she gets, her breasts will stay the same. We just didn't want to be offensive".

Perhaps the low quality graphics of the Dreamcast era detracted from the appearance of their outfits from today's perspective. Back when I was a kid I didn't take notice to midriff and the boobies, just the action.

Besides, none of you feel this game looks WAY TOO PSUish? Anyone? Oh well i guess Lara Croft's (triangle) breasts and female figure (on the PS1, mind you) had no kind of effect whatsoever? Or Tifa Lockheart's abnormal breasts and midriff? ( "you found orthopedic underwear", god damn FF7 was amazing)

PSO's only real sex appealing character was the Hunewearl, but in a different kind of way. The most she could show off was some legs, some midriff, or some back. But that's about it. PSO2 is definitely more revealing than PSO, but honestly it really isn't that bad. The Ramarl is barely even showing any skin. Hunewearl is showing a good bit of skin, but honestly it's managable. She's covering up enough of her breasts, and although alot of her torso is showing, most of her legs and arms are covered. They probably could have covered up her back a bit more, but who cares, a weapon is going to be there 24/7 anyway.

A good principle i go through while drawing female characters -- if you're going to show skin in one area, then cover up another. If her midriff and breasts are showing, cover up the bottom half. If her legs and some thigh is showing, cover up the top.

Edit: And TOO PSU? This game plays absolutely nothing like PSO or PSU, which is really what they should have been aiming for in the first place. As for LOOKS, no this game definitely favors PSO more than PSU. The outfits are all Pro-Functional as opposed to PSU's Pro-fashionable, and the environments just SCREAM pso.

they have lots in common if you wanted to go into semantics. I'm really impressed with the game so far though. I'm always big on character customization but I hate how in some games you have 3 sliders that impact eachother but aren't even on the same page and you move one thing 3 pixels to the left and you go from "almost got it..." to Picasso. This looks very user friendly so far, so I'm quite pleased.

Actually, a lot of the costumes are both functional and fashionable. The only outfit I've seen that I truly don't like is the RAmarl's. All the other ones are good, I just think they just need different coloration (which we'll obviously be able to change).

Maybe that's why girls wearing revealing tops look more awesome wearing pants than they would wearing short shorts or a miniskirt. It's also the reason why Zettai Ryouiki (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/ZettaiRyouiki) is seen as attractive; partially-exposed legs are much more tantalizing than fully-exposed or fully covered legs.

The fact that they added a breast slider for female characters made me loose that much more respect for this game~

I cannot wait to run around with a bunch of female player characters with double D tits wearing see through armor that is supposed to "protect" them from the elements. Guild Wars 2 please be good.

I'll be honest, when I saw the trailers and all, I did indeed automatically make comparisions to PSU. Then again, that's the first Phantasy Star game I have played, so it's natural for me to make that connection, I suppose. I have since played PSZ, and Blue Burst, and I see how they have elements from both - I suppose that's part of what PSO2 is - a collection of the better ideas from the past PS games, and pushing the genre forward.

Now, on the topic of the breast slider - I don't really see why it offends you. I mean, the outfits can be changed, if one seems too risque for you, and if you'd like to make them smaller.

Really, the bottom line here is that people want choice, and Sega is giving them the free rein to choose how they want their character to look.

I'm honestly not trying to bash you, Jinto, I just don't think it's fair to lose respect for a game that's just trying to give players freedom to make their own virtual identity.

Having looked through it, here are some of the more blatent things I noticed:

Extensive customization!
Lip and eye shape customization!? (http://www.famitsu.com/news/201107/images/00047317/DMrA3Fc7uyJ8UfV9Oo3kkeuBo5E9V7jp.html)
Separate options for arm, leg, body, and bust shape/size customization!? (http://www.famitsu.com/news/201107/images/00047317/BKCH2VE6e75hkA2L6CNtCq78LeXo4nlV.html)
I can't even figure out what some of this stuff is! (http://www.famitsu.com/news/201107/images/00047317/MIZOUeokR4zJrGWaseENJoCVE41OLR4R.html)
Casts seem to have swappable parts! Does this mean fleshies will have clothes? (http://www.famitsu.com/news/201107/images/00047317/Ww2PPzkT2z21abupdz4d94966eR3RdwD.html)

Combat-y Stuff!
FOcast!? (purple and black cast with a cane or whatever in the back right) (http://www.famitsu.com/news/201107/images/00047317/MO24V74AwP2uvt715juOu69PN9REdRFZ.html)
This looks to be the custom combo thing. With some other stuff. (http://www.famitsu.com/news/201107/images/00047317/gYrG24C75U9A32xW2PQCYn7493Zb67bt.html)
A skill tree? (http://www.famitsu.com/news/201107/images/00047317/QA79342GHKwl65d8GZCFfqnIPEipW538.html)

Thus I conclude my pointing out of obvious stuff. Now can someone who speaks japanese translate some text out of this? ^^;

I thought I head an Engrish "custom combo" in the concept video actually.

In any case, I was slightly worried about no clothes, but if casts have parts, fleshies should have clothes.

I noticed a dual-whip flourish by a HUney in the video, but it's probably the single whip weapon just has two cords (makes sense, really)

Overall, this basically quadrupled or more our info on the game... so... yeah. Awesome. Loving everything I saw. 12-man super-runs? Hell yes. Climbing on bosses? OH HELL YES.

The skill tree is interesting. Obviously a development of the GAS of PSU and type customization of PSP2, if it's stuff along those lines it'll be sweet.

One concern I have is that we may end up class-locked, which I'd rather not have be the case, simply because I'll suffer incurable alt-itis otherwise, wanting to try everything. But PSU had you choose a starting class also, so not concerned, yet.

You know what I just realized? Instead of the typical starter weapons for each class, they went with their beefier class-counterparts... For example, instead of the starting weapons being the classic Saber-Handgun-Cane, they are instead Sword-Rifle-Rod.

Kinda weird.

To be fair, all three of those weapons in PSO quickly became obselete. Canes were outright inferior to wands or rods. Handguns almost always lost to the bigger guns (Barring the Punisher weapons), and daggers almost always out-damaged sabers.

I've seen numerous threads about PSO II where people are bitching about it's style. One person gives there opinion, then everyone jumps their shit. It seems this thread is populated by the majority "Segac" party who will gladly eat whatever is given to them.

I'll grant you that some people here can be a bit fan boyish, but a lot of people here dont fit that bill...so now all you're doing is trolling to save face.

Your comment was childish and you know it. You're free to criticize a game, but to complain that they don't force a bust shape and size only says you're afraid of breasts. Really, if you're gonna complain, complain about something that doesn't sound like it's being said by a 12 year old who think girls have cooties...or at least some home schooled kid who's never been near a woman aside from his mother. "THEY LET ME MAKE A FEMALE THAT ISN'T FROM A COOKIE CUTTER, I WON'T BE PLAYING THIS". Yeah, I don't know how you could not expect to get flamed for that.

You might have had a case if you could adjust crotch size, but being able to adjust breasts separately from chest width and fat/muscle ratio was a natural step that should have been taken sooner. It's called a touch of realism.

The only weapons usable at this point are swords, rifles, rods, gunblades, and wire/d lances.

Awesome video and pictures. Honestly I don't know what to think. Compared to other pso games I've played it looks a lot different. Much more modern. Almost childish in a sense. I guess with time I'll get used to the new features and new gameplay.

PSO EP 1 AND 2 on xbox was one of the greatest games I have ever played. I liked it so much I bought Blue Burst, then Phantasy Star Universe, PSP1 and PSP2, and now I am currently on Jp Psu. PSU got away from PSO roots, I liked some stuff they did away with but other new stuff I could care less for. Some of the new features in PSO2 like gliding and such just don't seem Phantasy Star to me. I enjoyed on PSO and PSU the simplicity to attack a monster. Now there are dodge, roal, dip, dive, and dodge. No but seriously all the new gameplay moves? almost seem dumb. Seem similar to WoW. I'm probably wrong though cause I usually am on crap. lol

I am probably going to love this game and don't get me wrong I can't wait for this game. It's just that I honestly don't know how I feel about some of the new stuff.

I guess new is better. It's time for some changes I suppose.

It's ok, it's ok. No need to bash the guy anymore - the points been made. Let's just get to something else.

Oh, on that note, I really, REALLY hope that when they said "Global Support" That meant world-wide server set for everyone to play on. That way, we could all play no matter what, and we wouldn't have to worry about slow updates, like was the case with PSU. Two birds, one stone.

Segac turning up the hype train for PSO2, just like Capcom does with their fighting games. As cynical as I am about Segac, I am biting the bullet and I'm quite hype about this. I am looking forward to DMC-esque action as a Hunter. The combat melee system looks VERY fluid, and I'm glad that the game seems to be running off a PC-optimized version of the PSU engine.

I am curious if there's going to be Global Support for this game, now that it's Windows-only. I know with the previous PS games Sega US and EU has a tendency to separate their servers, but I'm a bit tired of playing on segregated servers already. FFXI and XIV has spoiled me to simultaneous content updates across all regions, and I hope Sega can do the same.

My my, I always wondered if one could have too much control when customizing a character. But they finally show me that no you can never have enough. When you can change the size of your female characters bust then that may be taking it a little far. lol

Anyways. I really want to hear more music. If its the same type of music as PSO then I will be playing PSO 2 like crazy. But if its like PSU's then that will be sad because the part of PSO that kept me playing was the really empowering music that played all the time. Not to mention that it going calm to fast back to calm during game play was cool and added to the immersion.

Also, and this may start an argument. The Graphics just look like a modified version of PSU's engine to take higher res textures.

Even if that were the case (Which I don't believe it is) They're still much better, wouldn't you agree? and if they don't have to spend as much time on the graphics, they can spend more on creative process and gameplay balancing, correct?

Niloklives please don't go that route. You and everyone is right, just don't turn it into something ugly please :). You could compare it to going swimming at the beach with thousands of girls there in swimsuits, as long as you don't get caught up with it, it's not a big deal and just enjoy your time swimming. But it does sound like a troll to me.:\

WTF?

Changing the bust size is the BARE MINIMUM! Every game should have it, period! Absolutely everybody has a different preference for where their character should be on the spectrum, it is impossible to get a "perfect" size/shape that everybody can agree on, it is quite possibly the most subjective thing on the damn planet.

So, no, being able to change female characters' bust sizes is NOT taking it even a little too far. That's so incredibly wrong and silly I don't even know wtf you're coming from.

I never played PSO Ep3, but I like it's soundtrack a million times better than ep1+2+4...

Seems like "PSO FEELING" wise all the past games had that phatansy star-like charm to the sound track either way...

Just that they didn't sound as interesting, The biggest reason PSO's music even stood out to me was because some actually made you think "I WANNA FIGHT*COUGH*DANCE*COUGH* TO THIS" and not "I wanna get this fight over with." That and the whole dynamic music change thing, that kind of slipped into your mood, while also giving it that real time- random encounter feel like chrono trigger which helped make the atmosphere of the game be feeling like you're on a real adventure.

But so far I'm not all that impressed with this game's sound track. It sounds better than PSU, But also kinda reminds me of what I already got bored of in PSO... I just want something with some feeling put into it, and not some boring computer generated orchestra gladiator fight music...

I'm assuming he's just the forests boss.

I'm wondering if that fire cave with the dragon boss on it is apart of this first planet, or another planet (Please tell me they didn't make a whole planet JUST for firey canyons and caves that's definitely gotta be a trope...)

Read over the past 25 pages...something about PSO (Original) being different from what we are seeing now...and comments saying "Well its an outdated game, the battle and combat system...all of it is outdated" But ...I have to ask:

Where does that put Tetris in the realm of puzzle games? Its a pretty basic, simple game. And apparently it is still considered the best of all puzzle games up until this day.

My point being is...I've noticed a lot of people bitch at the hard core PSO players because we like archaic "Combat" systems.

I'm actually fairly certain if they just ported the 'archaic' system of PSO and just added more areas, monsters, rare weapons.. Like a PSO Episode V...That it would probably do very well. Graphics alone don't sell me... Then again I guess we in that era where people praise graphics above everything else.

Same shit happened with movies. Real stunts have now turned into graphics where no stunts were actually done. The breakdown of movies is now happening to videogames.

Regardless of anything I've said...I plan on playing this game because I want to play it before I make any conclusions about it. I think everyone should give it a chance...its not even in its ALPHA stage yet.

Comparing a puzzle game with pick-up-and-play appeal to an action RPG is like comparing apples to oranges.

PSO's combat was stiff, relatively slow, and bound to the limitations and latency issues of that generation.

The movie analogy is also false, since gaming relies entirely on human input. In the realm of online gaming, it's a bit of a rule that the closer you can come to expanding the idea of human input (movement, latency, "action") the 'better' the game is. This is just how things go outside of the rose tinted glasses.

Then again, there are those kids who still listen to vinyl records. In those instances it's more about making a statement than delivering/enjoying a product to the fullest.

I would not consider playing an Action RPG that played like PSO at this day and age. It's limitations in terms of 'twitch mechanics' were, most likely, not intentional limitations to set boundaries in the game and were most likely born out of necessity.

I'm not bashing PSO, there is no game that I have fonder memories of or have logged more hours into. I'm just saying it shows it's age.
