just be careful when putting the cover back on. did this like a year ago, and since the ps2 is black, it's hard to see if anything is in the way of the screw's when putting them back in. ended up screwing a hole through the data cable that runs from the motherboard to the reset/open button...........one ps2 down the drain there.

This is a very accurate reporting,but please be aware of the fact that if you own an original Playstation 2.with the serial number SCPH 30001 then sony is 100% aware of the DRE = Disk Read Error problem and if you contact sony they will repair it free of charge but,you have to pay around $7.00 for shipping and handling to send it via Fed EX or UPS trust me its worth it and they repaired mines even thou I had opened the PS2 up myself and used a can of conpressed air.
