Here goes, I've spent 140 hours playing this game and I'm at level 83 with a 200 mag. Today I beat Dark Falz on Very Hard Offline (I had beaten it before with different teams online). The ending was the exact same as when I beat it on hard. Rico flies out, the mellow music plays and then you go to the credits after you get all the items that never come up as rares for me. Needless to say I was pissed! If I was to actually be paid for playing the game as if it was a job that's 3 and a half weeks I would have been playing the game. Actually it's taken me about a month now. Is this all there is to the game?! Looking at the BGM test on the options screen it shows an After the Story 1 and 2. So maybe I'm hoping that there's a gratifying ending out there for all the hard work I've put into it so far. Can someone shed some light on this subject? Is there some special quests I need to do (I've beaten all the quests in normal mode but never bothered to in hard or vhard)? Or is there some rare items that I need but probably can't get ahold of due to my section id of viridia which doesn't seem to get all the good stuff. Playing fairly without stealing once I've only at best been able to get a h&s25 justice... yay... Someone help me out here I don't want to think I wasted $60 on a game with a crappy ending. Speaking of which can anyone confirm the rumors of a PSO2 and PSO expansion disk?

Hate to break it to you like this, but that's all she wrote. While I've yet to beat V.Hard (much less Hard), I've heard from several sources that the ending doesn't change. There's no quest to change that... no special items.
While I'm inclined to be pissed about such things, it's not surprising anymore these days. Game endings have gotten the shaft over the years. And as for PSO, the game isn't so much about the story as it is about the interaction. (Online, of course)
As for an expansion disc... no clue, but not likely. Why? Well PSO 2 has been confirmed for a late 2001 release. (One year later.) Hopefully, Sonic Teams expands on the Offline story part of the game. Beyond that, it's likely we'll see 9 new characters added to the current ranks. (They originally intended to include 18 in PSO.) My big question is... will PSO characters carry over to PSO 2?

To the guy working at Sega. Here are some suggestions for PSO2 to make it as good as the original Phantasy Star series games. Pass this along to corporate if you can. (:
1) Vehicle scenes: the raft with De Rol is pretty cool on PSO, why not a hovercraft and/or landrover scene? Or even a spaceship sequence (of course there needs to be a spaceship sequence, Phantasy Star isn't Phantasy Star without interplanetary travel).
2) Speaking of which, some needed scenarios:
Satellites, Air Castle, Ice Planet, Desert, More Overworld interaction instead of only 1 level, and some extra towns to go to. I would say on average there needs to be about 12-16 different levels to spread it out, and not just Cave1, Cave2, etc etc. I mean actual different levels, and ones that aren't repetitive either. The forest level was great, every other level in the game has rooms that all look the same.
3) Some actual AI to meet down on which ever planet this will take place on. The fact that you go through the game and find only 1 survivor of the Pioneer 1 is very dark. There needs to be colonies or towns of other people/species.
4) An actual transition of weaponry and armor between level 30 and level 70. After buster it's usually straight to rares or db's saber on PSO, most of which you can't get on your own. Laconian and Nei arms are a must for high end weapons.
5) Storyline....
