Reduce Element?

Still looking as GAS options, I was looking specifically at:

Reduce Fire / Reduce Ice / Reduce Thunder, etc. etc.

The in-game description says

""Reduces effects of certain status ailments."

But PSUpedia says:

"Reduces damage taken from [fire]-based attacks by 10%. "

Can someone explain to me what this update really does? From the description on the game I thought it was limiting the number of times you get burned / frozen / shocked, etc. but PSUpedia makes me think otherwise? Is it talking about the damage taken from status ailments?

It is a bad translation on Sega's part. It reduces the amount of damage taken by elemental attacks by 10%. For example, you get hit with barta and you have Reduce Ice, you will take 10% less damage.
