This season is the worst in years, imo. I can't even put into words how bad I think it is. I could not recommend any currently airing anime to you with exception to Bakuman, which again is just much better in manga form.

Been watching "To Love Ru" lately. Also rewatching with a friend DearS. Of course for non-Etchi, I tend to go through www.animecrazy.net and six other sites with different anime genres and IRC networks to find anime.

I used to watch anime through Japan Networks, but I truly hate waiting for episodes. Its the same reason why book series annoy me. I don't like reading up on a series until its complete because I just hate waiting. The only exception is video games.

Was a great season, shame most of this is ending now but...

The best:
Fate/Zero cliffhanger until April is a bitch
Mirai Nikki best yandere ever
Chihayafuru best sports anime of the year (karuta lol)

and the fun to watch but not really deep:
Ben-to
Shinryaku Ika Musume
Working
Haganai
Idolmaster actually expected this one to just be nonstop ecchi... but there wasn't any at all

and the goddamn trainwreck of disappointment that had too good a pedigree to fail so hard:
Guilty Crown 4 weeks until next episode, maybe if they try really hard they can turn it around.

Next season looks pretty terrible sadly...

You won't be missing much, some of P4's original story was modified to accomodate the the shorter timeframe of each episode.

There's also a bit of unneeded backstory that is added on to give the characters with smaller roles a bigger scene.

Its a comedy/fantasy where a mad scientist turns his world into an anime and abunch of anime characters run around fighting a evil group that uses Data Drain when they defeat a hero. Does anyone know what the name of this anime is?

Its sounds really funny and I want to watch it.

In my opinion hunterxhunter is probably one of the best shounen.

It looks bright and happy and typical dragon ball-ish from the outside, but it's actually really dark and takes place in a really fucked up world. Seems to stray kinda far from the typical shounen patterns of "keep fighting the next villian or train to fight(Or learn your next stupid special attack) him after he did whatever to prove he's your current strongest opponent." formula.

It's actually about adventures, assassin stuff and survival and the concept behind the character's powers later actually isn't annoying. Also Sasuke DEFINITELY copied Kurapika. D<

I'm enjoying 2011 anime, but I like the original better so far. Also hate how the censored the way Killua ripped that serial killer guy's heart out. and replaced it with some kinda stupid bag with the guy's heart inside of it as if that makes sense... was my favorite scene too...

Guilty Crown is such a disappointment. The animation is outstanding and top-notch, same goes for the OST, no doubt about that; however, the exposition but especially the story's pace pace is just so bad that it still becomes just way too trashy. They really overdid mixing genres into that pile of mess.

A lot of people that I know that watched it say the original japanese dubbing is the best when compared to the english dub.

I don't like subs or dubs. It's because I'm a native Japanese speaker; subs are useful when I have trouble with a pronoun/pun/accent but most of the time they get in the way. Dubs are...well, I avoid them like the plague.

I torrent my anime, though. Commie subbers have high-quality anime, and I usually take their uploads and simply turn off the subtitles.

It all depends on who's got the best to fit the attitude of the character. Some times english fits better then the Japanese voice but in the end, it all comes down to personal reference.

/agrees with the English voice for Cowboy Bepop

Speaking of Cowboy Bebop I just picked up the movie on Blu-Ray. Only $12 not bad. Gave it a watch with my brother.

I also picked up Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood on DVD.

And next up I'm going to try to purchase Cowboy Bebop on DVD, probably from Amazon or something.

I swear I'm not spending my Christmas money on random crap.

Also I started Stein's Gate a few months ago then proceeded to forget about it. I really need to start watching that again. Oops.

I'm REALLY behind on anime lately. There's some stuff that's been out for probably a few years now that I've been interested in, but never got around to watching... Heck, I don't even know what current stuff is good these days...

I think the last thing I watched was a few episodes of Gurren Lagaan that a friend of mine downloaded when it was still relatively new. I really liked it, it was pretty crazy. That, and the movie Dead Leaves on Netflix while at another friend's house, but apparently that's a pretty old one.

Most of the time, I just end up watching reruns of Cowboy Bebop and other stuff on Adult Swim. Cowboy Bebop is still one of my favorites to this day. :D

In short: People love it.

To be honest I actually really like that they cut all of the minor stuff from the thing, because really it displays the story a lot better than the game ever did.

Stein's Gate is basically about a group of college (I think) aged kids who have a microwave that can send text messages into the past.

No, just no. Honestly, do you really find any of the time travel theories mentioned in this show reasonable? They make no bloody sense whatsoever.
But not to make you get the wrong idea Ce'Nedra: Steins;Gate was among the most popular animes of the last year.

I have no problem with idiotic, pseudo-scientific explanations for stuff happening in shows, but the fact people praise Steins;Gate for being thought through WELL is what makes me want to vomit. I saw cases were a person would question the plot technicalities, just to be crushed by fandom fools' ignorance towards science.

Well, I've only really been watching what's up on Netflix so I haven't seen anything really good recently. Or at least since the last thread. One I did happen to stumble across that really got my attention was AngelBeats!. Despite having a very cliche roundup of characters and scenarios, and the comedy quite over the top in the gruesome department (thanks to the characters already being dead, thus immortal), the very human back-stories behind their lives and deaths, their rebellion in purgatory, and their eventual acceptance and passing on to the next stage were quite touching. I fully admit, that by the end of the series, I was dangerously close to bawling like a little bitch. And that was a good thing.

The art style is clean, fluid, and vibrant while the music is quite decent (both GirlDeMo and the generic background tunes). However the plot pacing could have used far more than 13 episodes, as many of the characters really needed more exploration, like T.K. Unfortunately, they're mostly all sort of brushed aside at the end. Annoying and a technical markdown, but ultimately it's forgivable.

Also, the informational pop-ups have the same sound effect as the menu pop-ups from PSO. Not really a plus, but each time the scene changed I got a little flash of anxiety thinking that I had been disconnected. That's got to count for something on a PSO forum.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WvBHx9bNoF0

Since the show deals with the subject of pain and suffering of life, and what justice can possibly be done in the afterlife, I wasn't expecting much from an anime series when tackling the problem of evil... but it was still disappointing that AngelBeats! largely sidesteps the issue. Their answer is the old Buddhist standby of "joyful participation in all the sorrows of life", which is (I suppose) as of yet the best answer I've ever heard. At least it gave Blues music.

In addition, I've been watching the shit out School Rumble. Yeah, it's old news, but I'm still having a blast with it. For the most part, it's enjoyable but nothing really special. Kenji Harima, however, really makes the show worth while - and the dynamic he has with Eri leads to some of the better comedy moments I've seen in anime.

Oooh, I like that series. Very interesting character chemistry going on along with...economics.

On the topic-note:

Started watching Chihayafuru, which is REALLY good so far! I didn't know I would ever be this fascinated by a show about a poetry card game.

Also started Mawaru Penguindrum which is FABULOUS MAX. I haven't gotten that far yet, but I've heard REALLY good things about it and I'm expecting something very interesting.

Senki Zesshou Symphogear is quickly becoming disappointing and a generic execution to a possibly interesting concept, and I'm hoping that it picks itself up again.

I'm afraid to watch the Mirai Nikki anime. There's just some parts to the story I'm worried they'll completely screw up... and one of them is the ending.

^I haven't read the manga of Mirai Nikki (i never do actually) but i'm tottaly hooked. God damn i hate the cliffhanger ending of this weeks episode x.x

Edit: Finished GTO, nice anime but the ending is a bit meh to me. They shouldn't have squeezed Miyabi's story in 2 episodes really.
