I know that the servers for this aren't up, but when I try to run PSO2 I get this error. I've uninstalled and reinstalled but I still get the same error... Any ideas on how to fix this?

Hate to say it, but i got the same error.

Of course, i havent installed this on my main computer (that will definitely play at max settings), but they both run on Windows 7, sooo.....

my XP computer can run the game fine, but it chugs.

If i find a workaround, i'll let you know.

Dblpost:

First, make sure you're running as administrator.

Second, try reinstalling the client by running the setup file as an Administrator.

Third, go through all the folders, uncheck the "Read Only" box, and press Apply and Ok.

I dont know which i did, but i have no problem running the client anymore.

When i run the [PHANTASY STAR ONLINE 2 alpha2 version] file a menu pops up but then after that i click the button i think says PLAY (The big blue button on the top right corner) and nothing happens after that it just closes and no game screen like yours :(

I was having all of these issues.

I think the very last thing i did was waltz into options setup and put my graphics settings on 1. ran without a hitch after that. But nothing ive done is conclusive to getting it to work, it's just what i tried.

If you got my issue can you please tell me what you did to fix it?
I have it on 1 and that still doesn't open anything after i hit PLAY.

Can you post the specs of the computer you're trying to run it on? That would help those that want to help.

Don't worry. 28 hours til it starts, you got time!

Go here: http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/Pages/index.aspx

1.Choose Desktop graphics.
2.Radeon HD Series
3.Radeon HD 3xxx
4.Whatever OS you have.

If that's too complicated for you, in the 2nd one choose Auto Detect and hopefully it'll sort it self out.

I tried reinstalling ,sound still dosent work. Have you tried changing anything in the options?

Is it only the video that has no sound or can you also hear nothing at the title screen?

Try this: http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=35

If it doesn't work it might be a sound card problem and I can't help if I don't know what it is. (or if it's integrated into the motherboard.)

Im using an Intel GMA on this laptop. It seems to run pretty well.

On the other hand, my second desktop is using an onboard Geforce 6100. I dont know what the issue was, but it was straight DYING during the opening video.

Tommrow i'll install the client on my Geforce 8100 PC, which should be able to max this game. Maybe not at max framerate, but it should still be able to max it.

But, if i can actually play AND record from my laptop, then this game is optimized pretty well. Not holding my breath though.

Installed memory (RAM): 8.00 GB (7.75 GB usable)

For your video card this would be the updated drivers: http://sites.amd.com/us/game/downloads/Pages/radeon_win7-64.aspx

Setting it to 1 is just a preset for the lowest settings, on what the actual problem was I'm guessing it was the shaders choice on the 4th tab: http://i.imgur.com/2O2lQ.jpg

In my case, file check fails with a 434 error and leaves the client outdated :S any clue on how to resolve this?

EDIT: Ok, solved, it was because of admin permissions.

I kept having memory errors when I tried to play on Ship 1, but when I switched to Ship 2 instead, there were no errors at all. :)

Maybe server congestion is causing the memory issues?

Anybody with the memory error should try turning their shader off. Here it's the second option, lower bullet. It's deselected as it should be if you have the error (Assuming you still do on the next phase)
