PSO2 Alpha Control Scheme

http://bumped.org/psublog/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/pso2-controls2.png

* The entry listed as STEP will change to Dive Roll if you are a ranger, and Mirage Escape if you are a Force
* The button layout may change based on your controller brand.

An alternate control layout is available (TPS Style Layout) where the attack and photon arts button moves to the L2 / R2 position like in shooter games. Additionally based on each of the three battle styles (Striking, Range, and Force) you can set the default control layout and any additional settings you want in the options page.

http://bumped.org/psublog/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/pso2-controls-mouse.png

Oh my gosh what does this all mean? Well there’s two modes, Mouse Mode which lets your mouse do all the attacking, and Camera Mode which lets your mouse just control the camera when there’s no menu or windows open. I recommend using Mouse Mode for TPS style for precise control.
If you want to change modes press the [T] Key.

User Stats (for those that never read the thread about it)

http://bumped.org/psublog/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/character-status-alpha-test-2.jpg

PSO2 Alpha Test 2 lists character stats in your Character Information Screen. To reach this screen press the icon with the shillouette of a person on the main menu.

HP : Player’s Max HP
PP: Player’s Max PP
打撃力: Striking Power
射撃力: Ranged Power
法撃力: Technic Power
技量: Ability
打撃防御: Striking Defense
射撃防御: Range Defense
法撃防御: Technic Defense

This “ability” stat is a damage stat. The higher your ability, the more damage you do.
In addition there are 6 elemental attribute resistances 属性耐性. These are marked with an attribute icon and a tiny shield on the lower left corner. You will receive less damage from the corresponding attribute. Attributes consist of FIRE, ICE, LIGHTNING, WIND, LIGHT, and DARK.

Character Menu

http://bumped.org/psublog/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/character-menu.jpg

When you select another player in the lobby, you will open up the Character Menu. It lists the following features:
Character Menu

パーティーに招待する: Invite to Party.
メールを送る: Send Mail
ブラックリストに登録: Black List
フレンド登録要求を出す: Friend Request
マイルームへ移動: Go to their room

Choose the first option: パーティーに招待する: Invite to Party, when you want to invite a person to your party, or you are the party leader.

http://bumped.org/psublog/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/Party-invite.jpg

If you were invited to a party, you’ll see the party invitation window as well as a party invitation icon at the top of your screen. Clicking YES [はい], the party icon at the top of the screen, or the main menu’s Community / Party [コミュニティ / パーティー], will let you reach a screen where you can choose to join or refuse your party invites.

パーティーに参加する Join Party
参加を断る Refuse

http://bumped.org/psublog/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/Friend-Request-Window.jpg

If you’d like to send a friend request select フレンド登録要求を出す in the Character Menu. The person who recieves the request will see the window in the screenshot above as well as the Friend Request icon at the top of their screen.
If you click on YES [はいi] in the Friend Request Window, or click the icon at the top of the screen, or click on Community / Friendlist コミュニティ / フレンドリスト button you will reach to your Friend list window.

http://bumped.org/psublog/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/Friend-Request-Yes-no.jpg

Under the top category Unreplied Requests 未返答の受信登録要求, you can see all your friend requests and approve or reject them.

http://bumped.org/psublog/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/newaccept_flow_ss_03_l.jpg

http://bumped.org/psublog/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/freefield_flow_ss_01_l.jpg

But if you did not accept any quests, you can then start フリーフィールドの探索 Free Fields. Head to the space port and select a Freefield quest to start.

If I can make my PS3 controller work with my computer, can I use it for PSO2? If so, how do I set it up?

If you get your PS3 controller to work, it's treated just like any other gamepad by the OS/game. I don't know if the functions will map out properly, but I'd say there's a good chance they will.

I suggest MotionJoy for the PS3 controller. Just set it to be treated as an xbox pad and you should have no problems. This is how I play Skyrim with a pad.

This has been taken care of in this thread. --> http://www.pso-world.com/forums/showthread.php?t=192907

I think the only things missing are the Character Creation Menus and Shop/Inventory/General Menus. But I guess that won't happen until the game is up. We'll just have to muddle through for the first night.

What Masterflower said, google MotionJoy and make sure you have Microsoft NetFrame 3.5 installed in order to use it (Windows 7 has it pre-installed).

That's what I'm using and it works brilliantly.

I like how the graphic is an Xbox 360 controller with PS3 controller analog layout.

The Logitech F series are kinda like that, they function like XBox 360 controllers (ABYX buttons, use XInput like the XBox 360 controllers do in Windows) but they have a layout similar to the PS3 controller.

Sweet. Almost all of those menus are Engrish written in Katakana, so I can actually read them. I can't wait for the beta so I can play too.

Got a translation of the skill trees as well perhaps? I know the skills but I can't read kanji well.

It's somewhere in this forum, it was translated months ago, let me find it.

Appreciate it. I can find the translated list just fine. But it's disorienting looking at the menus in game when the force skill tree in particular is heavy with kanji.

It's old, not sure if it helps but this is all I got.

Guard > Just Guard > Just Guard Master > Just Guard Stun.
Step > Step Attack > Step Advance.
War Cry
Guard Stance > Guard Stance Up > Guard Stance Heal
HP Up > HP Up 2 > HP Up 3

Yeah it's outdated but remember they added just counter and something else. Try to put 2 and 2 together.
