With the release of the character creator demo, it comes time for a screenshot & movie thread. Use this thread to post any screenshots or movies you may take from the Character Creator demo. I'd ask that if you have screenshots that are large (over 1024 pixels in width), [spoiler-box] them or use [url] tags to direct people to the image.

Since there are a fair number of new users who may not know how to use tags, here's a brief tutorial.
[spoiler-box]To use a spoiler box, simply use [spoiler-box] [/spoiler-box]. Put your images or spoilers in between the tags and you'll get something like this tutorial.

tags work the same way. Drop the url of your image between [url] tags to link to it. Additionally, you can use your title here (your url here) to create a link using a title.

Don't mind if I add something to that. I think the last round of full resolution 1080p screengrabs from the Alpha killed my phone web browser and now it refuses to let me sign on to any site that needs a log in. orz

If you've got huge photos, but still want to show it off, please use a photo editor like GIMP to at least reduce the image size before posting, and then link the larger image to that instead. Seriously, downloading a massive set of 1080p images over 3G (spoiler-box tags still make you download the image) or even a slower broadband connection is NOT fun.

This took a good 40 minutes to get right, the ridge lines between the eyes, oh my god was that hard, I need sliders for my movements as well sega!

Well, I might as well post the pic I have from when I made my character in the Alpha....

Still wasn't 100% happy with it, but I had already made it several times(in fact, the above picture is actually the 3rd to last rendition of the character)... But oh well. Was trying to make a character looking as close as possible to my main Beast character from PSU/P2...

Satisfied with how it turned out. :)

Well, since the character creator was released I updated my character... EXTREMELY happy with how it turned out. I think it really has a Beast-esque feel to it. :)

Was gonna add the red pompom hat, but the hair clipping is a bit much.

How do we load saved characters back into the creator?
When you're in "Stage 4" for creating a character (Going by those little orbs in the upper left), scroll down as far as you can go in the creation box and click 3rd option from the bottom: Like so (http://i890.photobucket.com/albums/ac110/LK1721/clickhere.jpg). Then, just click on the character's name that you want to load and it should load them. After that, click the option to the left to confirm loading the character in the creator.

Man I had so much fun messing around with the character creator, I was surprised how many options you have to tweek your character. I couldn't completely make my old FOmar Malicelast (sigh no option for the old floopy FOmar hat) but I'm happy with how he turned out~

You'll be hard pressed to find me criticizing the Japanese playerbase over the western one, but I do like that it seems like we'll have a bit more variation than the typical lolifest. Nice job guys.

I wish we could get some darker colors on these armors. The pastels are okay, but I'd really like a striking shade of purple instead of these subdued shades we have.

After you save it go back to the menu before making another one and launch the benchmark, if you want to another saved character for benchmark just load it and play the benchmark.

Guys! the character files are in the same folder as the images, we could technically trade character files if we wanted to! :D

Some things I noticed:

No voice option. I went through the menus a couple of times, but couldn't find it. Was quite surprised.
I didn't try putting a hat on my character in alpha-2, but this time I noticed with most hairstyles, your characters hair will go straight through the hat!
Talking about hats, you can put three on at the same time!

It's probably because voices are relatively easy to add into a creation machine. It's not like you have to draw out a concept art, scan it onto a 3D imaging software, render and tweak it, send it through one or two more programs and then review what you just made and correct errors.

You find a seiyuu and have him/her say/grunt a few things. Not too surprised that it was left out, unless it was in the alpha tests.

I believe it was in the alpha tests. They might not have added it just because you wouldn't be able to do anything with the character anyways that would make them use their voice. That and while it wouldn't be much, the extra sound files would make the file size a little bigger.

When the game is available again (and you are selected), you can load one of the presets you make. It is one of the last options you will select on the character creation screen....

I was trying to recreate my Alpha 2 caseal but they aren't exactly the same. Close enough though. I may fiddle with the armor color later. I was going for silver but it's still a bit too blue.

You'll be hard pressed to find me criticizing the Japanese playerbase over the western one, but I do like that it seems like we'll have a bit more variation than the typical lolifest. Nice job guys.

boobslider means we'll actually have more chars running around with bodies that will make those boobs look right

But in all seriousness lolis just look even worse in this engine, rather than games that have presets for a "race" of them. Good riddance.

Being my first time messing around with the character creator, I was greatly pleased with the number of customization options, but I didn't like the lack of clothing options and colors compared to everything else. I wanted to be able to customize EACH part of the clothes, like on the Casts' parts, and yet some colors were just stuck and I couldn't change them. Other than that, it was awesome. :)

Turn up your graphics anyway so your screenshots look better. Kinda see a lot of images with the graphics on low. But even though you may get lame benchmark scores you can still turn on the HD and shaders for characters creation.

You shouldn't have to. Load your character up in the creator, click the red circle, give the character a name (it doesn't matter, only counts for a file name), press the bottom left button there, wait for the game to take you to the main menu and then start the benchmark.

I figured it out, apparently I had to resave it under a DIFFERENT name each time... weird.

One more question: is the hovering ability for Casts in this version of the character creator, and if so, where can I toggle it on/off?

Really wish this thing was in English, lol...

Nope. It'll be in the closed beta and all versions on up but you can't change it in this demo.

Say you need a new one for university and would prefer to get one while the market prices are relatively stable for computer hardware but would like to pick it yourself so you know it will run the coarse of university because old people and tech are like oil and water. More then likely this will work but they'll try and base it on those mocks & exams ;)

I have a friend coco in HK in the same dilemma.

I will now run one at lowest settings to see how the weakest systems would compare, but i wil not run a non Cata OC mode because its only needed for max settings, on other settings its hilarious. ;)

Just noticed, i accidentally did enable windowed mode and the performance is higher at fullscreen, so i had about 300 lesser points, anyway, its the max load possible. So im not gonna recreate another max setting (and max OC) test because it wanted to put the max load on it, which i succeeded. Without windowed and max OC its probably 7000 at max settings for 6950, which is faster than required for any given settings up to 1080P. At lowest settings i think almost any real GPU could handle it, but i still have to check out. For lowest setting i however will shrink down absolutly anything except resolution.

my lappie actualy could have 16gb of ram, for some odd reason it has 4 ram slots. so if i had the monney id get 4 4gb ram and switch it up. no performance gain would come from it tho. in the game that is.

i was hoping the game had a in-game screenshot function.

Here's my creation and benchmark score. The benchmark was run with level 5 gfx settings. If i deciphered those moonrunes correctly in the settings.

EDIT: the benchmark was taken windowed mode, 1600x900. Surprisingly the frames per second were fairly constant at 35-60. To me, as long as it doesnt dip below 30, i am perfectly fine.

So here are my scores:

4637 (default, windowed 1280x720)
1592 (slider max, fullscreen 1280x720)
1057 (slider max, fullscreen 1920x1080)
4278 (slider max, windowed 1024x576)
2795 (slider max, windowed 1280x720)
2509 (slider max, windowed 1920x1080)

from those scores, it looks like FULL SCREEN takes a huge hit on performance.
I am NOT happy about that at all. In Alpha-2 I was able to take a lot of really nice 1080p videos because we had "fake full screen" which is windowed mode with no borders. If real full screen kills my performance I won't be able to take good videos.... arrghhh this is really bothering me right now!!! They need to fix this D:

Im not able to measure how my stuff scores at lowest possible specs, because... the score will run out of specs. Anyway, what can be said for sure its incredibly easy to run PSO2 even on very crappy PCs. What surely can be said, the factor between highest stress and lowest stress is about x12 at comparable resolution, so it means: At lowest setting the hardware can be 12 times weaker in order to reach the same performance such as the highest settings, which is a huge difference.

For reference:

When you successfully take a screenie with 'Prt Sc', there should be a message near the bottom of the screen that pops up like so. Someone should sticky that info as well as the print screen button thing somewhere.

Removed the red eyes, modified the face & body a little. I also tried this with maximum settings...I was probably moving at 2 frames per second or something, it was absurdly slow. But the screenies were worth it. IT'S SO NOICE.

Definitely agree here, they only have one option for the default face type while like 3 for the "bulky."

There is an Undo button on bottom right. You can also do Ctrl+Z.

This is my guy, just in case you couldn't find it Fen xD.

You said it looked like a girl, I think It's probably the face. The colors are too bright too, maybe you should try a different hairstyle, something more darker, normally scars goes well on manly characters too, Maybe manly him up can fix something.

Definitely a learning curve with the creator, much better than my first try. I'd like to be able to select individual hair portions (bangs, sides, back, length and style). Loved my PSP2 hime-cut bangs/twintails combo. For now, though, this'll do.

Defiinitely dont like Hune, dunno what people enjoy at them..

Im probably gonna create 3 char: Hucaseal, Hucast (really like the look), and that female Ranger from tab 4. Even Racast looks juicy and clunky (thats great... Racast HAVE to be clunky and hopefully highest HP such as in the original PSO)... male looks better than ever before. Guess i make fivty fivty on gender. But hard to decide. How much can we take?
