Well good news, I know for most it's a "Yeah I know" but I find it great since you usually have to input it yourself, but I got my Wireless Ps3 Controller working on it. Everything works well just the O is to accept rather than X.

Yeah, that's how it is with Japanese games. If you want, you can change it in the controller options.

It's because in Japanese O means yes and X means no.

It makes a lot of sense if you think about it....
I have no idea why Sony changed the layout for the western world...

You think after FF7 it would be accustom to nearly every RPG fan :P. But they had to change it.

Probably because most Americans are lazy, and would rather mash buttons that are closer to reach, I.E. the X button. I actually prefer O being the accept/yes button over X, although it does throw me off when I switch from a Japanese-made game to a US-made game.

Where are the controller options anyways? Are they in-game or in the options on the start-up menu?

I just started playing that game today. One of the first things I did was change the action button to X and the run button to O lol

Good news, I got my ps3 controller to work wireless...ly with my laptop. I tested it out, now lad what so ever, bluetooth works perfect and the control scheme is great (Just the whole O to accept and X to deny). So I will be hooking my laptop to my monitor and playing this game from the comfort of my gaming chair.

If anyone wants to know how to do this I will be more than glad to help.

Configure the controls to swap the O and X thing to your preference. (http://dl.dropbox.com/u/12804628/PSO2/Benchmark/pso20120410_004651_000.jpg)

Is that Photoshopped in English or actually a setting to put it in English?

There is an English mod out.

I have no idea why Sony changed the layout for the western world...

It's because when you wipersnappers were still in your diapers, I was pressing B to shoot fire and A to jump on nuts with angry faces. If it was good enough back then, it's good enough now!
It's those dag nabbed Genki people who got it all wrong, with their accept meaning decline, and their decline meaning accept. If their buttons mean things in their languages they should have moved their buttons!

Now get off of my lawn! I have a ton of napping to do, and you're all getting in the way!

I could secretly NOT tell you where it is at... *cough* by NOT messaging you privately and risking NOT getting banned.

Lol Just Google it you will find it.

Well I had no idea there was an English mod out. But I think I'll stick with the current version regardless... helps me get accustomed to Japanese since that'll be the case in the real version anyways. :P

I'm so used to O to confirm, not a problem X3

So, not sure if this is offtopic, but anyone got any good controller purchase recommendations? XD Besides using a wired 360 controller on my PC? I'm talking maybe either under $15 for decent or $30-35 kinda budget?

I think the older MGS games used O as select too.

But if you look at controller layouts these days, the position of select and cancel are uniform across the controllers... might be part of it.

The old Japanese button layout reflects the SNES layout though doesn't it? Circle is where A was on the SNES controller. X is where B was. Nintendo never made this change since even on the classic controllers for the Wii, A is on the right and B is down. I can't imagine how much of a headache it is for people who also have a 360.

Hey, I remember someone mentioning using the Xbox 360 controller with the Chatpad at one point during the alpha2. Now, I have a question for that person if they're still around: how the hell did you get it working? There is no official Microsoft driver for the chatpad, and the only unofficial driver package I've found requires workarounds for not being digitally signed. That by itself is annoying, but nothing I can't handle. The real issue is, even with the drivers installed and working, I cannot get the damn thing working. Everytime I plug in the Chatpad the little control panel for those drivers immediately reports an error and crashes.

I'd love to use the 360 controller + chatpad for PSO2, but it doesnt. want. to work.

Is it wired or wireless?

Try this.

What's suppose to happen when you get it working.

I'll try and find more ways.

Because we are a land of digging for oil and gold, and "X" marks the spot.

Is it wired or wireless?
[snip]
It's wired, and I saw that method from the Youtube video. Unfortunately, that requires working through an Xbox 360 console, doing some fancy networking, and paying MS a monthly/yearly fee for some Xbox developer license thing to run the code... not worth it.
https://code.google.com/p/chatpad-super-driver/
That's the one I was talking about that I could not get working, even with the drivers successfully installed. I haven't seen any update on the work on that driver package since early this year, so I'm afraid that guy lost interest and I doubt it will see any further development, which is a huge bummer.

Of course, Microsoft should stop being a dick and do the minimal work involved in releasing an actual, official chatpad driver. Doubt that'll happen either, though.

Thanks for trying Ark. :)
