Beta Schedule: 4/19 to 4/28 + emails out in waves

The official blog (http://ameblo.jp/sega-psblog/entry-11220949585.html) was updated today with dates for the closed beta and some info on FUN. The closed beta will run from

4pm on 4/19 to 11pm on 4/28

Starting today and going right up until the 19th, staggered emails will be sent with to the particiapants with details on how to download the client. If you don't get your email right away, don't worry. It'll be in your inbox by the 19th.


As some of you may already know, FUN points exist in PSO2 in addition to AC and meseta. FUN can be earned in several ways:
Log in (loging in several days in a row will give you bonus FUN points)
Send and recieve "Good Jobs" (limited amount per day)
Finish a quest using friend partners / be used to finish a quest as a friend partner
A rank based reward
A percentage of AC spent in-game will be added your total FUN points

"Good Jobs" can be sent from the character menu.

FUN can be used in the FUN Scratch (Gacha). None of the items in this gatcha are cash shop items though. Some of the items you can get from the FUN scratch are:
Room decorations
Music Disks
Hair Style and Accessory tickets
Mag devices
Additional lobby action tickets
3 day My Room tickets
Weak versions of the AC boost items
Grinders & Synthesizers
FUN items can be traded between players unlike AC items.

This update on FUN points put them in a better light. Limited "Good Job" by day mostly and how it interact with friend's AI. Now to know to what they can be used beyond some "free gacha". Nvm, eitheir missed it or it was re-updated. This free gacha has just gotten better I guess.

It seems like that is indeed the case, as I was in the alpha and already got my email and everyone else who has seem to be people who were in the alpha. I wouldn't get too worried just yet, though; the emails only just started going out.

The emails are being sent in staggered waves. If you haven't gotten one today then you'll just have to wait.

Yeah, I'm just overly worried about it because my friend, who I registered with at the same time, and got to Lv.10 together with, got an email and I didn't. I would have figured that would have made our accounts close to each other on the mailing list...but who knows how SEGA really is doing this.

Oh well, since a lot of people have gotten in without doing anything after Alpha, I should be fine. Waiting sucks.

Last time some random dude claimed to get in with like 20 something accounts, saying he would give em out. Then mods said "NOpe, account sharing is too dangerous." and whether he sold all the accounts in secret or he just got banned or something I dunno, but he just disappeared.

Finally, i could have done much more but i didnt want to execute something unfair toward those who only made 1. We all could have created tons of it but its just not indented to do so. I do believe, those who truly face theyr destiny with open arms, a smile and a pure heart, may have bigger chance than those trying to overcome the destiny by a very huge shield. Finally i want to say, luck is a messy thing. No worry, its mathematically totaly possible that 2 people are logged into a account having the same IP because there isnt endless IP adresses, they are limited. You could have created 2 for wife/husband so both can play at the same time, while having the same IP. It only will become suspicious in term there is much more than 2 using the same IP... but having 2 should be save to use. As long as there is no abusive behaviour (10 would be something abusive) its fine to use.

It depends if the content will be avaliable for manual download (and put on a physical memory stick) or only available through the PSN. If it's the latter then your account on the Vita has to be a Japanese PSN account and you can only link one account per console (unless you factory reset the thing but it's a pain). Someone can correct me if I'm wrong I haven't tried it myself yet.

He had to reach lv. 10 else there is no priority. All the others are random, no one put at advantage. But it certainly can cause the destiny to strike back when challenging it. There is no thing such a fairness in this world in general. Although there is a opportunity to get a lot of it, its done by setting the mental level to the standart of "fairness is only achievable in term i do fight for it but never try to achieve more than absolute equality. Any higher than that is not deserved and it will always strike back."

No, you can't get mags through the FUN gacha. You get mag devices, which are items that can teach mags new abilities.

I'm trying to go apply for the beta, but I just keep getting SERVER CONGESTED TRY AGAIN LATER errors (I think) when logging onto my sega ID. I can't even do that. :(

Right, ask yourself, what will happen when we all log into the server at the same time? Indeed, it gets knocked out of the heaven... no matter its power. I studied aready, how comes Sega does only hand out a invitation in a wave-like manner over several days? They could easely send it to all of us at the same time (thats technically possible). The answer simply is, that they want to protect theyr server from overload. Because all the people will click at the link at the same time and probably download the game after. Its causing massive load, up to the point where the server will be knocked out. By splitting it toward several days, they can decrease peak load of servers.

Anyway, even by doing such measures, they still getting a overrun by the beta applicants. I wish people would think more for the people as a whole because we have many unnecessary "i do get as much as i can" applicants. Thus creating a unnecessary server load, on top of that trying to get a advantage. I wish people would care much more for each others and any actions always have to be done carefully.

It depends if the content will be avaliable for manual download (and put on a physical memory stick) or only available through the PSN. If it's the latter then your account on the Vita has to be a Japanese PSN account and you can only link one account per console (unless you factory reset the thing but it's a pain).

Offline mode with the implemention of F2P, is now less value, or lets say... its not anymore the same issue such as when it was P2P, so i can live with. No one truly expected that it will go F2P years ago. However, i (and some others) was always keeping up that discussion because i kinda feelt it did need a change, and somehow it became true, at least one of my demands came true. While many people even looked down on us... when we did bring it up. So i hope they got theyr lesson.

As far as i was able to detect, alpha testers got theyr mails in the first waves, but not the other applicants, so its uncommon for beta applicants to have a mail at this point.

Thats a video codec. It kinda doesnt make sense to me unless there is a capture video option. Such a codec basically can compress uncompressed frames (such as those ingames).

Normally they sell those accounts at same price as a full-game retail costs as average (40-60 dollars).

I have applied to around more than 90 CBTs which 14 are from P2P or highly popular games, and those 14 I NEVER got an invite.

Edit: Also I want to mention that one of my Rival clans that is known of being Rich as hell and spend insane amounts of money in their games since they come from rich families, around 40+ members got PSO2 Beta accounts. I'm not saying this because I'm afraid of them there is no PvP to consider myself competing with them here but what I'm saying is that already a good amount of accounts are in hands of Accounts dealers that sell them for a price.

I rarely ever had interest into BETAs because i dont feel like a non chosen test bunny. And i lack the time to waste hours for something i finally lose... (game data). After all, those companys can be happy that the freaks are willing to debug theyr games for free... its fun situation.

But i can understand when many people enjoy to play new games as soon as possible, simply enthusiasm i guess. Its kinda nowadays mentality that it never can be to soon, the people are almost insane as soon as there is a new game arriving and would pay almost any price for. But as soon as a game gets old.. its usualy out of mind and they wouldnt pay more than a few bucks unless it got very rare and a freak (or a collector who is missing it) is looking out for. But generally, it have to be new... thats the point.

I got me Tera Beta, which i only needed to preorder a game copy for.. and then i was in, easy as that. For P2P its surely much harder and PSO2 was the only beta (apart from Tera) i every wanted to attend. I dunno what kind of tricks people use in order to get into one... creating 50 accounts or paying lot of cash to illlegal account sellers.... but i wont participate in activitys like that. If i cant get in, i rather gonna wait for the full version, thats it. Afer all, i got lot of other stuff to do and can wait for my opportunity, when people make such a fuss about.

Besides, i certainly hope that they spend 10 000$ on "cash shop", then it will help us out getting ride of P2P and Sega will probably make better cash with and will create a even better PSO. So theyr decision was probably a wise one. In a P2P, the rich wont throw theyr cash into Sega in a way like that... they might buy Meseta outside game and Sega never ever will get any cash for, instead its some third person. Using a ingame shop however, will finally benefit Sega. I dont care how many clothes and items those buyers got... all i care is if i am happy and my friends. All i do need is a pair of stinky old socks if it have to be and probably some pants, which certainly will be free. Happiness doesnt come with items, it simply comes by having a fun time with people i enjoy.

I signed up on the last day of the alpha2 test a few months ago and got in as did my cousin who signed up on the same day. So I guess it's just luck. I was also apart of the much more participation limited PSU closed beta as well.

There is no reason to demonize those who take the time and make the effort to read a little tutorial and hunt for japanese addresses in order to sign up to play a game we are interested in.

That's the reason of the title of my article. I find immersevely stupid people who play2win now, specially in RPGs. The fun fact is that when they claim "skills" tell them to fight PvP on a fighter or an RTS where they face people 100 times more skilled people than them, then they will learn what real skills mean. It's about to have fun not to be the number 1, UNLESS! You can dedicate your life to it. Like I said, a government or rich parents holding you.

Hmm... not sure how to respond to this part. It's because i take a game seriously, but i cant say im casual or hardcore.

ESPECIALLY in a PVP game, it seems like in PVP based games ALL the top players have that mentality. But then in a game like this... where there's no competition, it's sad (fortunately it's also rare. As far as I know)

Preferably i'd rather have a human mind behind the character that i'm trying to kill, because those characters have the ability to fear, panic, unpredictability, etc.. If you kill them, it feels that much better and i can also talk shit if i want. That's probably one reason why people play certain games for the PVP. But for me, it's the main reason i play PVP.

In this game, it's probably more about beasting those mobs down as quickly as possible with x amount of dps. Also, the most shiny looking gear as well adds to the e-peen probably.

The "hardcore" probably look at "casuals" and question the "casuals" with "Why are you even playing this, if you are not going all out for the best gear/content?".

As for the butthurt defensive people who use the standard "i do what i want" retort. I think they just don't know what they wanna do with the game. Such as being casual or hardcore.

Hopefully all of this came out alright. I'm not sure how i should approach this, mainly because this is somewhat of a sensitive topic when it comes to categorizing player bases.

Question: Does anyone know where I can get a download mirror for the client? I'm living on a college campus, and we have a weekly bandwidth quota (about 14GB per week) in the dorms... And the client itself is over 3.

So I figured I'd download it while in the computer lab, which doesn't take from the quota. So yeah.. Like I was asking, anyone got a mirror for it? Or can I just use the Downloader.exe to download it on the lab pc and then copy the PSO2 installation file after(or does it automatically start installating)?

I can't say if the installer gets tied to the PC it downloads to, but it's unlikely to be the case (unique 3GB installer files, yikes). You should be able to transfer the installation files and use it on a different PC.

Also, it won't automatically install after it's done, and will prompt you before it proceeds.

Question: Does anyone know where I can get a download mirror for the client? I'm living on a college campus, and we have a weekly bandwidth quota (about 14GB per week) in the dorms... And the client itself is over 3.

So I figured I'd download it while in the computer lab, which doesn't take from the quota. So yeah.. Like I was asking, anyone got a mirror for it? Or can I just use the Downloader.exe to download it on the lab pc fand then copy the PSO2 installation file after(or does it automatically start installating)?

The downloader program just downloads a PSO2_SETUP.exe and two .BIN files.

After logging in click the big red button then scroll down a bit and click the next big red button. This downloads the downloader.

Run the downloader, click the large blue button, press (N) then wait for the download to finish.

Closed betas that anyone can sign up for and don't have a questionnaire are generally random. If there is a preference towards one group or another they are usually in the first wave of invites or are auto-added without the need for invite.

I doubt that SEGA has any particular selection process other than a simple random system simply because it is SEGA too.
