So, I'm thinking about coming back to PSU. After the PSO2 closed beta, I'm really in the mood for a lot of Phantasy Star. I've been playing a lot of BB and such, but I feel like it's not quite satisfying my thirst. I haven't played PSU since '07(?) I think, and I don't know much about its current state. I can play it on the Xbox 360 or on the PC. Is there still a subscription fee for the Xbox version or the US PC version? If so, how much. And also, since I didn't play PSU for more than a month or so, why does everyone hate it so much? Does it have its merits? Thanks a lot.

If you're up to it, you really ought to join the JP PSU servers, as they're updated on a more regular basis then the 360 servers. Plus, you can play on JP for free, although there are some limitations.

Oh, the US PC/PS2 servers were shutdown a while back, so playing the US version on PC isn't possible :3

The subscription fee is still in place for the 360 servers. I think it's still $10 a month or whatever, but don't quote me on that.

And I can't really answer the whole hate thing, I guess its from nostalgia goggle wearing PSO players and people who played the demo on the 360 who are doing the majority of the bitching.

Cool, thanks a lot for the tips. I ended up just getting it on Xbox 360. Now I'm just trying to figure out which aspects of the game are worth putting time into (synthesizing, setting up a shop, etc.).

edit: I keep getting disconnected, receiving a message that says "The server has issued an interrupt request. You have been disconnected from the PSU server". Not quite sure what to make of it, it just happens randomly in the middle of playing.

From what I've heard, the 360 servers have been absolute shit when it comes to playing online as of late. You aren't the only one experiencing random disconnects, as it seems to be happening to everyone.

It started working eventually. It may have been on my side of things, just didn't think so at first since my internet is usually pretty solid.

PSU 360 seems like it will be pretty fun, but I have a feeling it will be a lonely road to the endgame. Not many other low-level players.

Yes the disconnection thing has happened pretty randomly to me over the past month.

Well, that was strange. I got sick of running "Visitor's Memory" and "Roar of Flames", and I thought "hell, maybe I'll check out some of these missions in Parum and Moatoob. Some new drops will be nice, if nothing else."

5 hours later, I disconnect while trying to fight Mother Brain. "O.k., no big deal" I say to myself, "I guess I'll go back to the Event lobby for a while". Then I ran "Visitor's Memory" on C difficulty.

I got more experience from that single mission than I did in 5 hours of running Bs all over the damn place. And about 10 times as many mission points.

Something has gotta be wrong here. Is it only me?

The event missions have double experience per creature and Roar of Flames has nearly twice the overall experience of VM for about the same time.

I know dude.

It just doesn't make sense. It makes the rest of the game areas completely moot and pointless.

They're moot and pointless for a limited time.

Hi all!

I used to play on the PC, a long time ago. I just got the Xbox game, and am starting it today! If anyone wants to group up, let me know! Also, if someone could take me to the casino, that would be great! But, please be patient with me, since I forgot how to play. Thanks!
