Everyone keeps saying that the detailed model count limit as of the CBT is 140 yet when I went to the options in game it show my min and max possibilities for detailed model count both being 5, I wasn't playing at max settings so I was thinking that might be part of it, can anyone clarify?

Huh, My setting was at max, but I only get 80 as my max...

There may have been a prerequisite setting that needed to be higher to even increase the Detailed count?

My setting was at max, and it allowed 160. I think the game has a sort of Graphics card bucket list that helps it predetermine how much would be best FOR you.

Now I'm confused as to why I was allowed 160 and everyone else topped off at 140. Granted, I set it to 100 just to be sure.

Thats odd.. my desktop was on max and it was min 5 and max 140, and my laptop was on medium detail and simple shaders and it was also 5 and 140.

I did find 140 a odd limit, but not like it hugely mattered at high numbers anyway as it seems like there is a low limit that models even show on your screen at all. (http://youtu.be/G-aqGPO5PDM) Just helped to pre-load them I guess.

that might be it, sounds the most plausible, though my friend changed his settings once and he had 5 for both usually but then when he changed it he had 10, but that was for like one time only, he came back on those same sattings and it was back to 5, weird idk, maybe there's a way to edit the settings for that externally

This is why I always lagged out in the lobbies lmao, but my max was 100

Yeah, if you look for user_beta.pso2 inside the Sega / PSO2 folder in your documents and open it with notepad you can edit it, look for DitailModelNum = x. (X would be what you had it set to.)

GTX 540 setting - 5
Max - 5
ima try that notepad thingy on the last page because no reason it should work on dual monitors at 1080 with max settings at 60FPS and not give me more then 5 characters on screen+^_^+ thank you for posting a possible fix, gray blobs were getting to me!!

3 Sliders... the bottom 2 had nothing to do with model count. Those were Shadow Details and Texture Details if i remember. The top one i though went up to 180 and that was the detailed model viewer part.

Radeon HD 6950 2GB -- max setting was 200. Even when there weren't many people in the lobby with me, turning it up past what it (annoyingly) automatically set to each boot seemed to greatly increase the speed with which detailed player models loaded.

GTX 580

My max setting was 200. I kept it at 50, pretty much everyone in the lobby loaded in.

I got a Radeon HD 6950 as well, I'm pretty sure my max was 200 but I usually just put it at 120 upon logging in (since it kept resetting for some reason).

I believe it's based on your available VRAM.

Like the folks above, I had 200 as my maximum, and I'm running two 2GB GTX 560s (note: they have to mirror each other's VRAM data, so they don't double the VRAM count just because there's two of them).

i see, that makes since, i have 2gb vram on my 540 so my thought is they havn't finished whatever reads the cards cause it must not have recognized mine and gave me 5 and only 5 to render and i didn't know about the user setting thingy in notepad+^_^+

It seems 200 is the max then? I did read one account of 300 but the poster was not positive. I have 1024MB of VRAM on my 560ti (though, supposedly up to 4GB via Windows 7's shared memory....I have 16GB total system RAM for rendering purposes) and my maximum count was at 200.

If it is indeed 300, then there's something we're missing here; because I've seen accounts of people with higher GPU's than mine capping at the same point, unless there are other factors. Still, I can't see much more I can upgrade to get a higher character count (running with a 2600k, SSD (not that it should really matter for this) and you already know about my RAM stated above. Could try tweaking the INI file, but @200 it seems perfectly fine as it is...
