View Full Version : Force Weapons?

I was online for a bit trying to set up a trade to replace my trusty soul eater +35. I was going for a soul banisher until I discovered forces can't use them. So anyway... what's a good force weapon? I don't even know what I should be looking for anymore (please don't say c.sorc's cane http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/icon_razz.gif, they're increadibly rare). The other thing I realized is the items I've been banking that I thought were good (rares with cool photons like 30% machine and dark, or 45% dark) are really garbage that no one will even steal from me let alone trade for them http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/icon_razz.gif (every time I tried to set up a trade I'd lay them all on the ground and people wouldn't even pick them up to look at them). I guess noone cares about photons anymore.

I care a hell of a lot about Photons. Until I got my Sting Tip, I was using a Soul Pillar +9 with a 40% to Dark and +10% to Hit. The only reason I'm using the Sting Tip now is because it looks cool and it's grinded up to +45 (max).
Personally, I think the majority of top-of-the-line items aren't rares, but high-end 'regular' weapons with large Photon Bonuses. Usually, the rares aren't important to the person for how good of a weapon they are, but for how rare or 'cool' they are. Just look at how many non-forces want a Double Saber ("Oh GOD! I NEEEED A DOUBLE SABER!!!!"--sound familiar?). The Double Saber isn't that good of a weapon as far as damage goes, even fully grinded. It's good for a Force due to it's 6 hits and TP stealing ability, but I just don't like the looks of it (doesn't look right on a Force) and the Sting Tip is very stylish.
Granted, a Sting Tip is terribly rare, so I still think you should go with high-photon weapons until you find something of real worth for a Force weapon, like a Technical Crozier, Alive Aqhu, Sting Tip, etc. Those will be tried and true.

Magical Piece could be nice..
anyways agreed on the photon charge, I regularly drop a class.. maybe even two classes on a weapon to get a stellar photon charge.. my +40% wpns easily top a grinded out superior weapon with no charge in that class. It really jazzes up those machine gun style shooters too, helping them to get out of their sad damage rut.

Players shouldn't ignore the Photon bonuses. Even a lowly handgun with a good photon bonus is better than a typical rare with no photon bonus (well, if you grind it up to the max +75, that is).
I'm only level 29 with my FOmarl character, and I can already tell that much.
I currently use a Soul Railgun most of the time--no photons worth speaking of, but it's mostly just a way to quickly replenish TP.
For really dishing out damage (i.e. boss fights), I rely on a couple Mechguns. One has good photons against Native and A. Beast, another has good photons against Machine and Dark. Once your ATA is boosted high enough to hit with all Hard Attacks, Mechgun series weapons can really dish out damage. ATA high enough to hit with all special attacks makes my Charge Repeater even more brutal!
For the "cool look" aspect, what I REALLY REALLY REALLY want is a (Geist) Suppressed Gun. That would really complete my character's Princess Leia look (ala Ep4).
Normally, I prefer Mechgun series weapons over handguns, but my little FOmarl looks real cute firing a handgun. Her whole torso recoils and her head winces--and the handgun recoils so much it almost hits her forehead!

Ok, let me rephrase my question. I need a good force weapon that hit's multiple target's like a partisan or a sword... I use Soul Eater +35 for that reason... it makes Ruins V.Hard soloable. It just would be nice to find something better. Is there any other multi-hit weapon a force can use besides Soul Eater? (I've tried using a varistas 50% dark, but it just doesn't cut it with the mobs of enemies.)

Slicers... but they suck.
To be honest, I know of no others...

I'd still recommend trying a good Mechgun type weapon with a high photon against dark. They're not as good at dealing with crouds as a powerful sword or shotgun, but they're still a LOT better than a handgun.
They take some practice to use effectively against crouds. Usually all 3 shots from the first salvo hit one target, while the other two salvos may split their fire on up to 3 nearby targets. On stages other than the one you're specifically asking about, it's possible to run around to group the enemies up and then mow them down.
But really, the best way for a Force to deal with big mobs is big techniques. An accurate TP stealing handgun is you're best option.

I just freeze everything in the room, and get all my tp back with a special attack combo from my double saber. but if u need to do max damage, i thnk you can't beat the soul eater (but i don't have one)
it works, i have seen both the magical piece and caduceus, and neither do all that much damage (but the look kool as hell)

I'm with Mechdan. I've got a gush vulcan +15 that can drop 1000 hp on a three hit combo. Ta boot, it's special will draw hp from otherwise invicibles. Save the Ra-spells for group attacks or let the lesser skilled hunters and rangers (ha) deal with some of the baddies.

If there's another Force-usable weapon besides soul eater that will hit multiple enemies like a sword, I haven't seen it yet. I even have a C-Sorcerer's cane now, and while it's cool as all hell, it's only good if you want to use techs constantly. If you want to use physical attacks, stick with the soul eater. Yes, mechguns will do more damage to one enemy, but soul eater does slightly less to a large group of enemies and you can sacrifice HP to drop a large group at one time.
Slicers were mentioned, and I used to think they sucked, too, but after having used them more, they're actually pretty decent. Think of them as like a long-range sword that you have to aim. There's a certain skill in using a slicer that isn't really evident at first. They won't help in the ruins much, since the enemies are too fast and the slicer makes you step forward when you attack, which really defeats the purpose of not getting close. In the earlier stages though, they can be good weapons.
It's always good to carry a double saber just to help your TP flow a little when you're running low, but I don't rely on one as my main weapon. The soul eater is really still your best bet, IMO.
