Hi there,

This looks like the link for those with an EXISTING SEGA ID to add the beta service to their account:

https://cha.isao.net/profile_oem/OEMLogin.php?product_name=sega

Only problem is, how do we get past the security check without a japanese keyboard/brain!

Anyone got any tips?
I'd love to use my existing ID and not re-register.

Thanks

I was told that if you already registered for PSO2 on your SEGA ID
(Which is what you had to do for the Closed Beta anyway)

Then you don't have to do anything to participate in the Pre-Open Beta.

Now if you haven't done that yet then this should help you.
http://www.lexilogos.com/keyboard/katakana.htm

Just match the symbols you see in the box from the select symbols and copy and past those symbols in the line...

Generally isn't hard just a trial and error.

Since there's a thread in relation to the Pre-Open Beta, I'd recommend this be put in the original one.

You don't need to register again if you already have.

just FYi you don't NEED a japanese keyboard, you can setup your PC to let you type out japanese but it'll be like
for example to type ひらがな (hiragana) you switch the input language to japanese and type out "h i r a g a n a" and it'll convert it into the actual japanese characters, or even kanji if you want it to.
same works for Katakana btw
but then again all of this requires a little japanese knowledge.

I wasn't accepted into the Beta, I was invited in. I haven't received any e-mails on the pre-open beta. Should I just assume that I'm in?

So having a SEGAID isn't enough, you need to register here for the Pre?

After trying out some things, I figured it out for those who have a SegaID but hasn't registered for the beta yet.
Go to the registration site:
http://pso2.jp/preentry/

click the link where you see it
http://i50.tinypic.com/316xfr8.jpg

or just use this (it's the same thing):
https://cha.isao.net/profile_oem/OEMLogin.php?product_name=pso2

From there, you put in your SegaID, password, and do that damn captcha (make use of this site to help with that: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Katakana). Once that's done, you'll have to agree to the terms of service, click the top button and you'll be set for preOB.

For inputing those hiragara in the checking, you can use Japanese IME in windows 7, if not you may use this:

Reference: www.yesjapan.com/install_japanese/

http://www.yesjapan.com/images/Japanese-Windows7-009c.jpg

From the image above , from the drop down list it should be a IME Pad on the first option, where you can use the mouse to draw a Japanese text and select one from choice of its recognize, then the Japanese you draw in text can be input into the system.

I would also like to know this. Even though we were invited by players instead of Sega, we still had to register on the website before it let us play just like anyone else, so I'm guessing we're good.

So say I was in the closed beta, I still have to log in and add the service to my account? That means even with my log in information, I wont even be able to log in the game unless I do this? I'm asking just to clarify. If my friends plan on playing, then I have to help all of them with the capcha. -_-

If you played in the closed beta, you should already be signed up for the pre-open beta. All you'll have to do is update the client when they tell you, I believe.

Also the captcha is easily done. You can match up the symbols on the wikipedia page for Katana (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Katakana#Table_of_katakana). You can just match up the symbols and copy/paste them, with trial and error.

If your friend(s) are signing up for a Sega ID for the first time, no captcha is needed.

Otherwise, for those that already have a Sega ID but have not signed up for the previous Closed Beta sessions, they can use one of the methods previously posted by others in this thread.

I still don't quite get this... ^^;
What about people who got an invite and created a SEGA ID, but weren't able to play the game due to technical issues? Are these people also automatically registered for the Pre-Open Beta? @@

I dont get it why the people without working machine (or internet) got the demand to play the game at all. Dont get me wrong but its totaly common sense having a working machine at first. The demand on the machine is the lowest we have ever seen on any game freshly released or in beta. Its not that much of a task. The game will run on over 5 year old prehistoric stuff. In computer term thats prehistoric because it was incredible short living until about 2011. Now since around 2011 we have a lowered development speed. Thats why i started to finally upgraded the stuff which is up to the task for endless years, the best moment to uprade i say, it can last very long. Very fun example: 10 years ago, a GPU had 4 pixels per clock, 10 years after its over 2000 pixels per clock (http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/article/AMD-ATI-Chips-Comparison-Table/131). In the planets or even humans life, thats just a short flash but huge development.

So say you've gotten an invite for the Closed Beta and created a Sega ID. You were probably taken to a page to "subscribe" or "sign-up" for Phantasy Star Online 2 for beta testing.

If you have already done so, then you are already registered for any future beta tests (this includes the Pre-Open Beta Test and the Open Beta Test).

If you have a Sega ID but haven't subscribed to PSO2 when the Closed Beta was going on, you can follow the instructions provided here (http://www.pso-world.com/forums/showpost.php?p=2756985&postcount=8).

For more help with the Hiragana-to-Katagana captcha, I suggest scrolling through the first page of this thread (http://www.pso-world.com/forums/showthread.php?t=195031).

Hope that helps! :)

Don't blame those people. Just like most Japanese games for PC, PSO2 isn't well optimized. Only on the lowest settings could I get it to consistently show 60+ FPS on my friend's 2 years old PC that can run most modern games nearly maxed. My laptop is usually below the requirements they have, and even then I can still run most of those said games. But PSO2's benchmark test? I just barely fit into all of those requirements, and yet, even though with the minimum settings the game looks like Blue Burst with better draw distance, my FPS tops at 40 when camera looks at the floor or wall. Those people may have a perfectly working machine for all you know, it's the developers who need to be lectured on the differences between PC and consoles.

Yeah, that's exactly what I wanted to know, so thank you very much!!
I invited my friend and she had already downloaded the client, but there were problems updating it, so she gave up on it :(
We finally know what the problem was, so hopefully it'll work out this time ^^

As far as i know, those with preexisting accounts needs to verify the account before may 31. SEGA is planning to send or sent already. Then it is able to verify.
