We've attempted to "create ourselves" in the character creator but have you ever tried to recreate characters you've liked that you've already seen or even real people? I once played around the CC for a bit and was pleased to discover that I could put Riley Freemen from the Boondocks in the game if I wanted to. In fact, I might actually use him in the open beta. :3

I think in general, just like every other medium, people will only pay attention to it, if it holds something they recognize or they're familiar with. Celebrities and Cartoon characters being the easier cheap shots (OR LIKE PEOPLE THAT ONLY LISTEN TO MUSIC FROM THEIR FAVORITE ANIMES BECAUSE THEY'RE TOO STUBBORN TO OPEN UP TO ANYTHING NEW!)

I remember in a phantasy star art contest I made three entries... and two actually placed.

One had my character from PSU (that I put way more effort into drawing and I thought looked better...)

The other was Emillia holding a box of "Rappy-O's" cereal...

Emillia and the rappy placed higher D:

So I tried to make Old Snake. I'm not too proud of this one. Stupid CC doesn't even have any bandannas I can equip him. Also, I don't know how to make his chin any thinner without making him too young-looking. It's way too big imo. -_-

But what the heck? For some reason it only lets my change one of the colors on the HUmar clothes, and it only let's my pick from a palette of about ten colors! Is that normal? (Kinda made it impossible to get his tan vest right) and worst of all the Robotic Eyepatch is cast only!

I know it sucks just when you created a character you just can't savefile for it. It must have something to do with the clothings ingame I think. I got to recreate some minor changes I did when I switched from HUmarl to RAmarl.

Mmm, not really. I appreciate characters from other media, such as movies, video games, books, TV shows, etc., but I don't really ever feel a strong enough connection to them to warrant "liking" them enough to want to recreate them. I feel a stronger connection to my own characters (and other people's character too, to an extent), since I consider them my 'children', in a sense.

Aww come on count, it's fun! A good piece of fan art is like a good cover song, it gives the creator a chance to partake in a shared piece of culture and simultaneously express themselves AND what they love about the original, and maybe even learn new ways to improve their own work by further examining the works of those better than themselves!

Or in this case, make really nifty PSO characters and simultaneously kill time until we can ACTUALLY PLAY LOL

That one turned out pretty alright, alas her RAmar Barret backup was a no-go, and a HUcaseal Quorra proved highly difficult due to Olivia's Wilde facial features. (though a FOmar Flynn seems super boss! User powah!)
That said, if any of you manage to pull off a HUnewm-armor-wearing Freddie Mercury, you will be my new best friend!

Well, not a very huge fan, but for some mindless fun, it's a good way to waste some time every now and again.

Mostly I was commenting on the fact that he made them so short while keeping such mature features, a la the sprites.

OMG He's awesome! GREAT Idea!

I really hope they bring back some old school HUcast style bodies for the cast males (because robot ninjas) and if they do he would come out AMAAZING.

There wasn't a really acceptable set of shades to use, so I just went off the "solid blue" look his eyes are described to have in the police notice in France. If they release a more conventional set of sunglasses later down the line, he'll get 'em.

I suppose so. The eyes are actually separate from the face texture, too, and they are indeed blue.

I used a texture rip to make JC in another game a while ago, so I know that much. Ehe.

man it's always creepy when for some reason in 3d games they bug and the face clips through/doesn't show and you see two floating eyeballs and dentures lool.

...then again, is WAS in PSZ, so.....I dunno, I think Sega should be alright.

It's more likely a Nintendo plug, since the game was on the DS... :(

That's true. I'd like to be optimistic, though. Also, Kudos to the Macross reference. I personally like the VF-1A, but the VF-1S is great too. :P

They'd probably still need nintendo's permission. Even being on the DS all the nintendo weapons got removed on the english version. :\

But since I assume most of us are playing the Japanese version... Who knows.
^Or at least, that's what I'd say if this game wasn't coming out on the Vita.
