View Full Version : Character Creation addiction

The best part I can imagine about PSO2 is the character customization.

Past PSO titles have restricted you to so much less that you hardly ever pay any attention to what your character is wearing let alone looks like.

I could spend hours making characters for each different class till I felt I was ready to take it up to the next level and play...lol

Features that I like to see in games I would have to say tattoos, scars, and facial hair would really define most of my male characters.

Not into playing female characters, but I will make 2-3 for banking and or offline play.

One feature that not many games have is buying an outfit (w/ customization options), and no matter what upgrade you have your able to choose weather or not to keep your outfit on or show off your upgrades. Hate it when you assemble something new that shows and you dislike it, but you would rather hide that new feature just so your outfit will show only. (Wierd as it sounds but I care about what my character looks like even when I'm hacking & slashing whatever is in front of me.

Their is a question which I wanted to ask...will this have an offline feature for PSO2?

It was mentioned somewhere that it's online only, so you won't be able to play any offline with this PSO. Whenever the servers shut down the characters go with them.

Like Blace said, no offline play. You'll also have to use real money to buy slots for any character after the first.

You should give PSU a little more credit. They actually had plenty of options for character customization, although not quite as many as PSO2.

I play around with the creator every now and then because that really all we can mess around with at the moment. I wish they'd let us play around with the "Player Art" part of the game while we're waiting for the game to release. At least we wouldn't get bored with it. At least I wouldn't anyway.

And every other naughty appendage. All an "import" function would do is make them even more graphic.

Lets just create several accounts.. done. Sega should be more realistic and give at least 3 free ones. Then people may not seek for alternate options. The issue that the chars are stuck on a single server is not any less of pain because in usual people may not need several characters but they may want several of them in order to reach several servers (and friends) with.

i wonder if someone gets adicted to the character creator because they have some kind of Body Dysmorphic Disorder.

think about it.

maybe we all suffer from this to an extent, trying to make the perfect self in a game.

I'm trying to avoid the character creator at the moment. It makes me want to get back into the game too much, and eats too much of my time. That being said, before the beta came out I was ALL over it making characters till my eyes hurt, lol.

Pretty much this, I got my characters the way I like them now.
I wish they'd add more to the Demo, or re-release the benchmark with a few more options... And maybe a Symbol chat creation!
Two-Toned hairstyles would be really nice, too.

REASONS WHY PSU WASN'T THAT GOOD (TAKE NOTES): This is from : [url]http://socksmakepeoplesexy.net/index.php?a=psu[/url

No offline mode, that is the biggest draw back for when this game goes off line.

Maybe its a little premature for me to say this, but i believe we should start making private servers right now for when it does go offline we will be ready.

Just a thought...

I call it the FFXI effect, you have 1 character and any other character added cost..lol

What do you expect PSO is free to play....they have to get you somewhere right

Actually we get addicted to because of there power we feel when designing something to our own personal need. (like we are creating our own version of our-self but with improvement)

Well actually its the creative feeling I get when I put something together that I can be proud of....

I wanted to bring this conversation back to hear what other gamers have to say about this.

"Maybe its a little premature for me to say this, but i believe we should start making private servers right now for when PSO2 does go offline we can at leastbe ready since their is no offline feature."

Of course this is when the game becomes fully available that is...

Would be nice if there was an export or way to convert the player created chat art from the game to a usable graphic. I have some that were pretty cool that I'd want to use elsewhere.

Nah. I'm kind of boring. Why would I want to play as myself when I can play as a sad eyed fish girl, or an angel?

Good god, just saw this from Zorafim's quote. Does the writer of that article want a couple cubes of cheese to go with those several hundred oil tankers full of whine? He gave absolutely zero credit to the things PSU did correctly (not to mention numerous statements full of misinformation), and just bashed every aspect of the game to the fullest extent that he could muster.

I'll expect him to rage about PSO2 as well sometime.

I like the article, and expect PSO2 to also have a few flaws...PSO2 is not like PSO which is a the biggest draw back...

Check out this PSO2 Article (yes the spelling and grammar suck but it was made in 10 minutes..lol):

Because this isn't 2001. Welcome to the future. There is absolutely nothing wrong with PSO2 at this point, besides possible cash shop tomfoolery.

PSO2 "not being PSO" is a strength, not a weakness.

I'm just saying like it is from a modern, objective point-of-view, and not nostalgia-fueled "woulda, coulda, shouldas."

But, 'scool. Think what you will. Everyone else around here thinks PSO2 is damn-near a masterpiece.

Not really. PSO2 looks better than your average game, but even if nothing else, Sega's complete inability to make a PC game will make sure to ruin things for everyone. Yeah, you need a supercomputer or an overpriced Sony's toy to run a game with dated graphics!

I've never had a problem with either PSO or PSU, but have problems with a bunch of other titles so I really have to wonder. However, I did notice that players of some of the more casual MMOs tend to have really low end spec PCs and they expect all games to run on them. That's silly to me.

I can run any big-name game on my PC and even on my laptop. All 3 Mass Effect run almost perfectly on minimum, and barely lag on medium settings. Call of Duty and Battlefield 3 have FPS issues, but still work somewhat well. Even Darksiders, a horrible, horrible console port, lagged heavily, but was still somehow playable. But PSO2's character creator is almost impossible to use even on the minimum settings, and on maximum, I've got an impressive 70 points score in the benchmark test. How silly is that to you?

Spent a good hour maybe hour and a half making my character. Could have spent more honestly but I was under a time constraint. One of the best character creators; up there with Skyrim and Wrestling games.

I found the CBT to be a great deal smoother then the benchmark/CC demo+^_^+ wait until OBT or official launch before you judge it+^_^+ I'm sure ME1-3 and CoD/Battlefeild ran like s*** in the initial alphas and such+^_^+ I'm a noob at programming, but I'm still taking it as my minor, one of the 1st programs i wrote was a simple math program, insert two numbers, one in each box, then click one of 5 buttons for what you want, add, subtract, multiply, divide, integer divide. for whatever reason, if you attempted to multiply or divide anything by 7, it would crash+^_^+ my instructor just shook his head when he looked through it+^_^+ (i still don't know why it didn't like 7) wrote it on Visual Studio btw+^_^+

Keep in mind, benchmarks are always designed to push computers hard in order to give a number. The feedback from these stress tests are often sent back to data collectors so the developers can use the information to make the final game more optimized for a variety of players.
