I keep getting this error whenever I try to update using the "File Check" button (third from top on the launcher).

WinHTTP Error:12002
[No.103]

Anyone know how to resolve it or if it's supposed to happen?

Am getting the same error. :(

I've had the same error until yesterday: it means you lost connection with the server.
I tried to update the game around 8am (GMT+1) and it was way faster and didn't crash.
I also suggest you to try disabling your firewall and your antivirus software, I did so.

The error is caused by something blocking your connection or it being dropped. Such as a firewall, blocked ports, antivirus, etc.

However I have been unable to solve the issue. I reformatted my computer, installed vista and 7 (tried one then the other), directly connected to the modem instead of router, turned off windows firewall, tried a proxy and changed DNS.

I am completely stumped, and can only think it might be an ISP issue at this point for me.

If any of you figure it out, please share your method to fixing it :D

One of my two computers with PSO2 installed just barely managed to download part of something. This one still doesn't have jack shit. :/

Most of the solutions have been posted already, unfortunately. All that's left is your ISP, update server being a bit too popular with users, and something that should be common sense, like turning off Torrent.

If all else fails, try the downloader and redownload the whole thing

Does anyone know what the deal with is error 12007? I can't remember the No., sorry.

Edit: Oh, it's "server name cannot be resolved".

i needed more than 15 attempts before the update was successful

Took me several tries, getting the same error each time. I figured it was just an issue with the server being busy. I eventually got the download, though, and the game seems to work fine. Waiting on Friday morning now. :D

Does anyone know the exact size of the patch update? The ever-growing download folder for my client is currently 1.45GB.

Sp-24
Jun 14, 2012, 05:46 AM
2.63 GB, last time I saw it.

MasterSpark
Jun 14, 2012, 05:48 AM
All right, it's scraping 1.5 GB right now, so I should be more than halfway there. The progress bar is showing less, though, but might that be the result of the download being restarted?

Jonth
Jun 14, 2012, 05:49 AM
Yeah, that is another thing to consider for everyone that is having this issue. I've probably had it 30 times, but Sp-24 informed me that the patch picks up where you left off, so you'll eventually get there if you keep starting it back up... assuming you have enough time between now and tomorrow. I finally got done with it last night, and it pretty much took me 2 and a half days.

EDIT (was ninja'ed): Yeah, that bar always showed lees when I restarted as well. I THINK it shows the progress since you have restarted, so it should go a little faster each time you have to restart.

My progress bar keeps resetting...

...

Well, so much for PSO2. :/

Take a look at my post right above yours. You should still be fine as long as you keep restarting.

Wayu, check the directory Documents > SEGA > PHANTASYSTARONLINE2 > download > data > win32. If, when you restart the downloading, it keeps adding files into that directory, the patching is still doing its thing despite what the progress bar says.

Damn you to the abyss 12002 D:

So pretty much we just have to keep restarting the launcher?

Yep. Just keep checking that folder they are talking about, and use it as your progress bar.

Seemed related, so I figured I'd ask about it.

What exactly does this mean?

My guess is that it says that the transfer can be resumed later, since the cancellation button doesn't even bother giving you a yes/no if you accidentally click it during this marathon download.

It says that your client is up to date.

Oh, then I mistook it for the message it shows when you press the cancellation button. Sorry.

How many files is "complete"? I've been restarting the download over and over again for the past 9 hours and I have 2498 files in the win32 folder.

Edit: Forgot to mention it but my Install progress bar has never ever budged on either computer. Only the Download progress bar. That supposed to happen?

-Wayu

Sp-24

Yes to the install bar question. It only starts to install stuff after everything has been downloaded. And here's a picture of my "download" folder properties almost immediately before it got deleted:

EDIT: Judging by the amount of files you have, you are 83% done.

Is that Imageshack? I can only view Imgur and Photobucket images (China).

MasterSpark

That should be a total of 2,999 files in the win32 folder when it's complete.

800 more to go for me. ^^

Sp-24
Jun 14, 2012, 09:37 AM
It says that there are 3001 files in that folder, and that it's 2.63 GB in size.

I could reupload, just give me a moment.

So when we're up to date we can take a peek at some of the screens yes?

Sp-24
Jun 14, 2012, 12:01 PM
Yes, but very few. You can view the 10 identical ships that you can join, and see a variety of error messages that you get upon trying to join them, and that's it so far.

I beleive that Wayu's issue could be related to the great china's firewall interfering with the connection to the SEGA servers in japan, probably the servers requires a specific port that the firewall is blocking somehow, I tried updating today from here Spain and i didnt had any issue at all.

Could be also the time of the day! maybe you can try doing the update late at night as a last resort?

Anyone have any idea what this is ? The one on the left means your client is up to date from that post taken, well then what about the one on the right? I'm sure it's not the same.

I am having this issue as well. I have my Firewall and Anit-Virus turned off. Currently sitting at 8.34GB and contains 11,038 files in my data folder. I feel like this is a little much considering my progress bar 550/6236..

Just download Hotspot shield and once downloaded, download the updates to pso2 and it will definitely go through.
