You start out with 1 skill tree for each class. These skill trees can actually be reset into other classes later on, if you wish (don't plan on playing hunter? Why not have 6 force trees and 4 ranger trees). When you go to the counter and "change class", what you're actually doing is just switching to a different skill tree, which happens to be for a different class. But the 10 max is for all classes combined.
