View Full Version : RAcasts are suprisingly fun to play

I'm a tech whore and it's been 15 hours since I last spammed resta. It's all thanks to my baby Purplenum RAcast.
He's a fun character to play, that much I've discovered.
In need of a character to fill the 4th slot on my card, I started to shop for a character other than Hunny, Ramarl and Fonewearl. I kinda also wanted a Purplenum for the mechguns that the class is supposed to find.
Fonewm: Fruitalicious...and I'd probably play this char the same way I play my Fonewearl.
Fomar/Fomarl: Meh.
Hunter class: I'm tired of low ATA, and no other HU will displace my Hunny.
Ramar: He was a possibility, but his play style was too similar to my Ramarl's.
Racaseal: I was considering her, then I figured that if I was going to be a tech-less android, I might as well go all the way.
Racast: w00t.
As my usual tactic, I twink him up with a good mag, units, guns, and all the spare POW/HP/LUCK mats I could cobble together. The most important thing I gave him was a Gush Laser.
Despite the lack of techs, I'm having a great deal of fun playing with him.
Believe it or not, a dash of roleplaying makes it more fun to play a RAcast than I ever expected. He's just a mountain of metal that shakes the ground as he runs towards a pack of cowering rappies, intent on introducing them to his spread needle.
I just think of him as an experimental cleaning droid gone haywire. Somebody left out a commar in the coding of his logic drivers. Instead of cleaning up trash on Ragol, he's cleaning up the boomas.
He's in the waste management business ;>
"...TRASH DETECTED...
*CHUNKA CHUNKA CHUNKA*
<1000lbs of steel running at full tilt towards some boomas>
"...ENGAGE CLEANING PROTOCOL..."
When he uses a pilla PB...

I played with a Humar for a while (Jeffro) and was wanting something a little different. I tried a Racast as well. At first I was worried since they cannot cast Resta but that fear was gone pretty quickly. Now I charge into the caves without the fear of being poisoned. I laugh at all the Lilies I see. Its like they're trying to poison me, it's cute. My Racast is called Citrus if you ever see him. Citrus=Orange Juice...get it?

My RAmar was feeling kinda old so I started trying out a HUnewearl and absolutely loved her. Her starting attacks were so powerfull and alway automatically regained her TP (Newman bonus). I'll have to try out a RAcast and see how they are.

I'm more pleased that I can no longer be paralyzed. Other status ailments aren't as bad, or can be waited out. Paralysis from a lilly in Ultimate makes me mad because there's no way to cure it by yourself unless you eat an item, or waste a slot on a cure/paralysis. You can't even use the 'get another status ailment' trick because lillies shoot megid in Ultimate.
So anyway, my Racast currently has little problem with not having resta. That gush laser is a half-decent way to refill hp, although a gush mechgun with hit%s would be better. The biggest problem is adjusting to the lack of being able to S/D myself.

Yes the RAcast sure is fun......until you get to Dark Falz on V. Hard!! My friend had a RAcast. He didn't beat Falz till lv 80. And you know what? He didn't beat him, I did! He gave me ten bucks to get his Racast through the ruins and beat Falz. I love that kid. He also gave me 10 bucks for my Diwari. And he happily trades me Luck MAterilals for the more common rares like Guilty Light and Justy and other RA weps. He's the reason I can afford to play online. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

My Racaseal is awesome. I'm having so much fun with her.
Yes, the lack of shifta/deband is cumbersome, but paired up with a friendly FO, i'm good to go!
Nothing like setting off a trap to freeze or confuse groups of monsters!

I fully intend to drop a ton of dimates/trimates/star atomizers right in the boss area, using that pipe-drop-die trick.
Okay, I'll fess up...the lack of resta is more than a little annoying, but that's why I have a gush laser. It works in getting my hp back up, but I still prefer resta.

Ya I love RAcasts, I've got 2 One high level and one medium. I love mechguns http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif
About the Tech issues, don't really mind the traps make up for it. Later on you'll have so many traps you won't know what to do with them.

my favorite shortcut for racast is used when you have a shot equiped-- "Room Service". you can also use the elongated head and yell "Land Shark". its fun to play as a jovial big idiot when you are a racast.

i love androids...but for some reason i hate tech users. mainly because i hate keeping track of my TP. So Androids have always been my pick.

Just make/get a mag that has the Twins PB and you got S/D covered. Though you will only get it when your PB is full. I always have a PB/Generate equipped to make my pb raise faster.

I played using my level 16 RAcaseal with three Japanese players, and it's gotta be the best games I ever played...
... because we were all in Ruins, and none of us were using any rares at all. It was great. ^_^ Just how PSO was meant to be! All I had was a sniper and a shot... made it hard, but fun to play. ^_^
We even broke the ice by using odd or absurd WORD SELECT. o_O
Please cast RESTA!
> (HUcaseal)
Even more comedy moments... they said my RAcaseal was pretty. XD
Everyone, we are all beautiful!

My RAcast has an attitude problem.
"We androids never get any..."
"We're just not SEKSAY enough!"
"20 Meseta says I'm shorter than you!"
"I'm small, you're big. GET IN MAH BELLY!"
"This hunka hunka burnin' RAcast..."
"Goes to the highest bidder!"
"Do I hear 1000 Meseta? 2000?"
Now that I think about it, more like a sanity problem.

It has been a long time since I've used a Racast, I am more of a Hucast/Hucaseal person, still it's nice to know that even experienced PSo vets who are used to using techs alot can adjust to the android charcters and can gain enojoyment from playing with them.
For me the whole entire PSO experience was not going very well for me back when I first started playing and using a Humar, then I tried a Hucast and my opinion of this game changed drastically, I can not begin to explain how handy it is never, ever having to worry about being poisoned or paralysis since androids are immune to these status effects and then there is the ability to see all the traps in a room without the aid of Trap Visions. The biggest draw back to playing as android charcter is that you can become too dependant on not having to deal with the above mentioned things and will be to affriad to try other characters, then again it works both ways, people who are used to using techs are probaly afraid to try androids since they can't use techs.

The lack of resta WILL be a problem later on. I know this because restas pour from my characters like water from a waterfall in VH and Ultimate (online). I'm learning ways to conserve my precious hp, and am using a Gush Laser to repair myself at every opportunity.
Y'see, Racasts and Racaseals have the advantage of range and accuracy. They can use guns with the gush ability to steal hp from a safe distance, and without missing too much. HUs, on the other hand, have one hell of a time at lower levels using hp steal specials. Even if you did connect, you'd still be close to a monster and vulnerable for a counter-hit, which means you have to go and use the special AGAIN.

Crush Bullet steals HP too. Very useful for a Ranger droid.

I'll second that!
About the Dark Falz thing... Just get a few light resist units and you can whoop Vhard Falz at level 45. I did, anyway.
