Weapon Drop Rate Boost

Quick question. I know you can get drop rate boost on weapons. How does it work? Do you just need to hit the enemy once for it to be applied or what? Have it equipped when the bosses dies or when you hit the crystal for the loot?

Anyone know?

Have it equipped when the enemy dies. Same thing goes for the exp boost, you can be attacking an enemy with a different weapon the entire fight but if you switch to an exp boost weapon before it dies then you'll get a 5% increase.
