Well everyone on right now on DC PSO v1 online jsut got BSOD'd. I lost my entire character. Everything down the toilet.
Anyone know how to create a complete DC back up of your PSO character?

As far as I know, there is no way to do such a thing. I wish Sega would find some way for you to do it though, that would be great.

You could use a memory card reader that saves the data to your computer. Don't bother trying to dupe with it, since the game will reset everything but your exp points =owO=
Want mine for $15 USD? It connects to computers using parallel port.

what about the gameshark save backup code?
I just tried it.
And when i went to connect online with the back up it said error, corrupt file, but the file was still in tact, and presto it resaved and let me logon.
Same statistics.
Anyone got any information on the gameshark save back up code? and its reliability?

Didn't you lose all of your items? =owO=

well I did the test on a newly created game, is it supposed to render you completly itemless? or leave you at the defualt item list of a newly created game?
I created a new game. Got on pioneer and just wuit and saved. I initialized gameshark, have the codes running started the game. Removed the memory card and then put in another memory card. Chose quit and save. It worked. Then I logged onto PSO online with the original character save, then I quit and saved again. Then I logged online with the backup save, it gave me a corrupt error, then let me resave, and logged me into the ship.
Let me know about wether its supposed to leave you completly itemless or just sets you back to defualt.
Thanx

It takes away your bank and inventory, leaving you with saber/gun/cane, mag, 4 monomates, 4 monofluids, 300 meseta.... Just like putting you back at the start.

If you don't want it, I'll take it. I want to back other things up than PSO (such as Zelda:WW, Eternal Darkness, etc.).

Where can I get one of these memory card readers to back up characters in the US?

Well it doesn't matter wether you use a memory card reader or use gameshark to back it up. The PSO servers timestamp your character save. So when you log off and save, it time stamps the saved data. So if you try to log on with your backup, then they will not be synched.
Then it will give the corrupt error and then log you in losing all but EXP points.
Personally at the moment I am using gameshark to make game backups, so incase of major corruption from hackers my EXP points will be in tact.
Now I have also devised a legitimate method of backing up some items and cash. Its very simple, all you need is a friend, and for each of you to have 2 spare VMU's each. Basically, for you and your friend one VMU is a BANK character and the other acts as a courier. Basically it works like this.
1.)I log on with my main character while my friend is logged on with his courier character.
2.)I drop a ton of items while on Pioneer, and then my friend using his courier character picks them up(or he could just leave them there and watch them, just as long as he he in the game.)
3.)I log on with my BANK character, storage character, what ever you wanna call them. And then pick up the stuff and deposit the mesata and items.
4.Quit/save
basically when you have a ton of items and a lot of duplicates, why sell them for such little money? when you can have nice amount of mesata and items that you have duplicates of set aside incase of a total memory card corruption.
I am only doing this once or twice, just to have some solid weapons and cash set aside for safe keeping.
As long as you have a friend to help you out and is a continual player this is a very very easy way to back up some items and mesata in case a pso hack screws up your VMU.
Only takes 5 minutes, and its not cheating, so your playing within the rules.

Can DC players still play online and can they play with GC people or not? I thought they took the servers down then I sold my DC! If they are still up, D'OH! But then we had to petition for v2 in the UK!

I don't think that process alone allows you dupe items. If it did you could be banned as per the rules of the forum. Don't tell people how to dupe.

yes zimm the DC servers are still up, US, EU, and JP servers are still up and running http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif with a decent amount of people still playing on the DC, around 50 or so at peak times on the US server.
No you cannot play with other GC members since the GC version has been enhanced and is not a direct port of the DC version.
Over 24 games are still online for the DC.

J-3PO:
Don't tell people how to dupe.
This is not duping items. How is it duping? Its not duplicating anything! If I have 2 Giga Shields each with different attributes, and I GIVE one of them to another character I made online. Thats not duping at all.
This is taking EXTRA items you have, weapons etc. And actually giving the original weapons to another character. Like if I have two Sword's that I FOUND while playing PSO, there is nothing wrong with making another character and giving one of the Sword's to that character incase your main character gets corrupted.
Passing on junk weapons to a spare character its not duping, its like giving to a spare to a friend. Its no longer in my main characters inventory.
If I lost all my inventory i would rather have 100,000 mesata and some midgrade weapons available, than the default.
So this is not duping or illegal or morally wrong, i am backing up items that I found during gameplay, rather than selling them or jsut dropping them in some game, and am taking some junk items that i would not use over my main items in normal gameplay and transferring them to another character incase of a complete VMU corruption.
