Having a tough time using Team Chat

If I'm not mistaken, the 3rd chat option (Team) is for communicating with other parties in multi-party areas, correct?

Whenever I try to speak in team chat, I get a pop up message and my message doesn't go through.

Translates something into there being no team to talk to, I believe.

Is there something I missed in my general settings or party options when I created my party?

Should I simply use party chat to communicate with other parties in multi-party areas, then?

I think party chat will only be shown to your actual party. You should just use normal chat to talk to other parties.

I believe option 1 will talk to everyone within the area you are in. Option 2 is just for you and the other three on your team durring a quest. Option 3 is for your guild. If you are in one. This will be seen by whomever is in your guild no matter where they are in PSO.
