Yeah, so putting some NPCS outside the lobby so I cant acces them if I need them is JUST FOR SEE.

Anyways, no wonder why kids do that, everyone is there staring at those NPCs like idiots. If we ignored this they would get boring fast but you know, people dont like to actually play the game...

I was on block 30 earlier, and some of the NPCs were gone aswell. And somebody else mentioned it happened on block 21 aswell. All other blocks seemed fine. So I would say it's hacking, because it's really weird that it's once again block 20 this is happening to and the other english blocks.

From what I read, this is due to some coding that was taken from PSOBB (it was possible to do it there). You couldn't do this in PSU. It's like Sega "forgot" to implement this correctly or something. :/

This is how the hack works. On their launcher they probably modified NPC spawns and since the "hackers" got there first, they spawned the NPC positions. And since we're stupid and won't leave, they stay spawned there. Also, the walk through walls thing only works on their crappy 64 bit computers, and I won't go into detail about how they did it. (CE bypass AKA script kiddies) These kids are barely modders, not hackers.

I know it's this way because I used to mod GTA IV and the car spawns work exactly like this. Other people screw with your spawns, but if you get their first, the "mods" work. And I also spelt explanation incorrectly.

It actually doesn't work like that at all, but nice try. It has nothing to do with getting there first because it can be done with other people there before you. Also, even if you leave or log out they will still be in the same place.

Because most of the people that do these tings are script kiddies that take from others work and use it irresponsibley. Also there's absolutely no reason to stick up for them, this is a terrible play to try and get Sega's attention, and it's in away that makes us ALL look bad. Yes Japanese hack too, but it's more low key then this and is usually at a more respectable level.

This is purposely trying to disrespect Sega. I could do the same damn thing these asses do and probably better but I don't because I'm over ruining others fun. I grew up... Considering they are laughing at Sega's business practice means that they obviously have no comprehension on how a real corporation, not just a business, is ran.

You are far more ignorant then any person on here calling them a script kiddie. My guess, you're one of them and are offended, and I hope so, cause you are script kiddie if you are. Nuff said.

I disagree with both sides actually. It's just not a normal outlook that people take so you may not agree with me, but I'll try to explain it differently.

My main point is that all of the insults and attention you're giving them actually feeds them more and they don't cry or feel offended when you call them a script kiddie and stop hacking the game suddenly, it makes them want to do it more.

Best course of action is to acknowledge them but to not praise of dispraise. A simple, Oh hey look another hacker, is more offending to them then to actually say something outright mean or to try and ignore there existence. It's strange but works better then most on kids like this. They want notoriety, we can't give them it, we just have to act like the're part of the crowd if you understand what I mean...

At this point it's safe to say they are under a long term contract with Game Guard, only way I can see why the would continue to use Game Guard after it's been proven to be nothing but fail.

Also looking at nProtect's website
"nProtect helps financial institutions secure online banking customer's data from harmful malware and meet FFIEC Regulations"
Someone please tell me the banks that use nProtect so I can avoid any transactions through them O.o

I don't suppose it's at all possible to break that contract?

Also, is SoA under the same contract? Because if it is, this is gonna be worse than when 4chan discovered CosmicBreak.

Probably means in the mean time they might, which would suck... Is why this all pisses me off so much is that this gives Sega more incentive to drop a block until we get our own servers. The even more scary part is they have a lot of good reason too now ^^;

There are ways, but they cost vasts amounts of money, especially between two corporations, and nProtect would fight hard as it would look absolutely terrible if they lost a contract early from Sega, but it's not like they already do now ;-)

Well, any of the alternatives are better for the most part. However as Resident said, it's best to just make their own. If they had gone with that, they could have changed everything to their liking. The only hope for that happening now, is an expansion that changes it.

In case anyone's unaware, if you have a free area unlocked you don't need to rely on the quest NPCs. You can just go to a free field through the spaceport without setting up a room with the counter NPC and use the quest computer. I'm not sure if this has been brought up, as the topic's hard to follow with some of the back and forth going around.

No, this is sort of good. People will know exactly what is going on. They wont think it is just a glitch and restart their clients.

Plus, as someone mentioned, it is also good to send a general message to our English players to NOT give attention IN-GAME to this "person" who obviously wants it.

I restarted my client like 5 times until one of my friends said it was hackers xD Then I looked behind me and found who I was looking for. This was on Block 15. I think it's kind of funny. Yeah, that is the way to do it, good job guys. Some of us enjoy playing this game still besides its small quirks, and if they have a problem with write a letter or something. Or better yet, just don't play, the rest of us aren't going to miss em! Don't ruin everyone's game because you two aren't happy with the way its ran.

With how SoA's already been handling the publicity, that is just a really poor choice of wording because, well, it's a good game, but there's still this idea that not trusting them as a company means we hate the game itself.

And yeah, so it seems. In fact, they're probably wrecking the game just because they don't believe Sega of America is worth a mosquito's crap anyways. Who would, after the repeated failings under their rule with the rest of the PS series?

I'd rather go to a low pop block with mostly JP players and deal with the occasional party kick, insult, or just dead silence and avoid this kind of stuff. I've yet to run into any flying NPCs, people outside the window, or players that one-shot everything on any block but 20...

The game has been officially out for about a week now and this is already happening. Now... imagine a month from now. Two months. Three. A year from now. This might be fixed the very next time Gameguard is updated and we may never, ever see hackers or script kiddies again. On that same coin, it might not fix it.

If this gets out, god forbid, onto a review site acclaimed around the world, it will be very, very bad and could jeopardize a North American / European release. All because of a very small group in an already small group of English players trying to enjoy a game they waited so very long for.

I'm sorry but the NPC's are server side. When you buy Arks Cash SEGA can hold your credit card info on file if you want them to. If their servers are getting hacked in anyway what-so-ever (NPC's or anything) then the security issues HAVE to be of a concern unless you are a moron.

People like you are just as bad as the hackers and make every game you play worse for it. Do us all a favor and fuck off.

Yes, I get it, you're mad. But how on earth is complacency equal to the actual act of hacking?

That's just silly. Please, relax.

And guys, when it comes to hackers like this, I don't think banning really means anything. They can easily come right on back.

Sure but the server sends the positions.

No, you do not know how it works at all, sorry. It is being edited client side and the server is believing that since it was edited on their clients that the NPCs are supposed to be there. Once it is edited all it does is send out a packet to tell the server to move them there. There is no real hacking or anything involved

We shouldn't have to put up with this crap like you're suggesting we do. If you hack the game and inconvenience other players, you should be banned permanently from the game. No one should have to suffer because some script-kiddy is butthurt.

Put up with it till SEGA fixes it. Dont let it turn you off the game completely. YOu can still find places to play and just get by. SEGA will fix this, and yes those who hack should get perma banned. But still, you can have fun on the game till its fixed. I just dont get those who are now turned off from this. There is still places to play

For those that don't know, you can still party up on affected blocks by going to the campship and accepting missions there. Client Orders are out of the question, but you can just jump blocks and turn those in.

That's a good point, I forgot about that much. But if they have no way to get back in after being banned (which I assume they were), then who is currently doing all this hacking? Different people each time? Shame if it's become such a widespread, easy to do thing.

And I was thinking that exact thing Triple_S. Really, at most, it's just a minor inconvenience. Somewhat annoying, yes, and it really needs to be fixed, but it's still not worth getting that mad over.

You're telling me that these hackers are changing everyone's NPC's location client side to the same exact location on all of our clients!? Man, if this is the case I would be more worried about personal info on your own computer.

To bad yes they are changing things server side, there would be no other way everyone would see the NPC's in the same spot at the same time. So there is some sort of exploit that they are using, and have been since CBT according to them. And if they can change things server side to affect our game play I would call it a very big issue.

Okay, but then how did they do this with afk players a few days ago? There is no way to edit other player's location data client side.

Only client side edits are being done.

Client hacks were done (via cheat engine) which effected the server.

You are telling us that all of our PC's are hacked (all of our clients we are running have been modified!!!!). Think what you are saying.

That's "think about what you are saying" you dunce. And if it's able to move players as well as NPCs, then it's no longer a simple client side edit. You have to realize that.

I mean, if they could move the NPCs, why then is it so hard for the English language patch team to cork out a working patch for the game? Simple - these "script kiddies" only have malice and revenge on their minds when doing this. And they're gonna cause as much damage as possible because "we shuld rool gaemz roflmaobbq" - these kids have no maturity.

As for their argument about "global server", it's only been, what, one week since official release, and not even that long for a NA/EU announcement? They think they know everything when they don't.

And I'm also concerned about why they would want "global server" in the first place - are they thinking about harassing the Japanese with hentai and shit? If so, gut these kids in the throat. They don't deserve to live.

Maybe someone else here remembers a video showing off someone having partner npcs following them in the lobby in CBT (but not in their party) and everyone else could see them.

Only a client side edit is being done and I'm trying to let people know to not freak out even more because someone was trying to make people think their credit cards are at risk. No one is hacking into the server and changing the NPC positions. Sometimes the server BELIEVES things the client sends it. It almost seems like every hack is server-side if we're going to look at it your way.

What i'm trying to say is you cant change something to your own client, and force hundreds of others to view it the same way without changing the server in one way or another.

With what you are saying, i could change something to my client, say the location of all the bank terminals and then everyone else in my block would view the changes i made to my client. However it just doesn't work that way without some communication and checks from the server. Furthermore, like i posted before, tell me how they changed the location of afk actual players? Those players data aren't stored anywhere in my own client so therefore there isn't anything i can modify.

CastSoldierFan96

tell me how they changed the location of afk actual players

Their player IDs are stored in your client and their positions can be updated if you switch your ID to theirs. This is again a client-side change that the server ends up believing. No direct editing or hacking of the server is involved therefore it is not server-side. Just because it affects the server in one way or another does not mean it's a server-side hack.

I'm inclined to believe you're one of the hackers, because your logic is just appalling. That's not how MMOs work, you dunce. It's not like Hamachi, where one computer hosts all the other stuff in the network.

Servers for a game like this are much more complicated than you think - hell, even I don't know the FULL technicalities of how they work, only some of the core basics.

But I know enough to know that one or two rogue clients not on the Administrative network could influence an entire server without hacking into it.

The server "believes" that this is occurring because the client in question is sending packets of data to change the administrative network - something no normal user client has. To gain Administrative access, you either need to A)Steal a GM's account or client, or B)modify the server permissions to give you administrative access. Both are hacking, no matter how you look at it.

Listen, Dan, I know you're mad and all, but I'm going to give you a heads up. Talking like that (flaming, etc) is very much against the rules. If anyone is going to be banned, it's going to be you, as your last three posts have been nothing but straight up rage-fueled attacks.

No. Two regular users are doing thing because it is an exploit in which the server is getting updated positions of the NPCs from their clients because they changed it on their client. The problem is bad coding and that is how this exploit was found. There is no administrative access or server permissions being edited. I don't know why you cannot understand this.

Now, no need to get all nasty with each other - Not worth being banned for it.
