Just random writing, really. I still need a title, and I'm not sure if this is the first chapter yet. Hehe. ^_^; Ah well, I was asked to try to write something... sad. o_O
The first thing that came to her thought was the colour of blood.
Crimson red, thick, life.
And it was flowing.
Grabbing the bottom part of her long skirt, she grunted slightly as cloth broke. Wrapping the strips of what used to be white cloth around the open wound, she clamped onto it tightly with her hands.
"You're going to live, you hear me?"
The only reply she received was the sound of slow breathing.
Not good, she thought to herself. If the wounds don't heal, he'll bleed to death.
Of all the places they had to be, it was down in the Ruins.
Pulling him closer to a wall, hidden by shadows, she sat down and embraced him gently from behind, keeping him warm.
What a place to be. Feh. To think that they thought the assignment would be easy...

"I understand your voices of concern. Many of the hunters from the Hunters' Guild have been reporting the same thing. Even so, with the teams we have sent down already, over three quarters of them have dropped out of contact."
So many? What could be the cause?
"I believe it must have something to do with the underground ruins. I'm sure of it. The data sent back seems to indicate that it's possible the people of Pioneer 1 went down into the ruins. However, nothing has been reported of their investigations."
They didn't reveal what they knew beforehand?
"They knew of the existance of the ruins, I can tell you that. But as to what purpose the government has to do with it, I cannot tell you. It's classified."
The government again... figures. But what about...
"The Principal seems to know. But he won't reveal a thing."
Damn. But then...
"How many teams? I can't tell you that. You'll have to ask one of the heads at the Guild. I can tell you that the legendary Zoke Miyama stepped out of his retirement to accept a mission."
I see.
"What I'm asking is, we need another wave from the Hunters' Guild to go down. We can't afford to send the military for obvious reasons."
... Okay.
"As for payment..."
I won't need it. I was going to go down to Ragol regardless...

Why didn't they listen to the warnings? The new age of hunters, Red Ring Rico, made a job of recording everything she felt. She could feel from the messages that something would be wrong, but why didn't she listen to her hunch?
"Unlimited seal... it made... sense."
The voice wasn't hers.
"Ruins... ruins of a larger..."
"'Niisan?"
"Awake," he whispered in a voice sounding of nothing but pure pain. A pause. She closed her eyes, unsure of how to tell him of the current situation.
"Blood. Can't... move. And... hurts all over..."
"I'm sorry. I ran out of 'mates and antis. I tried to use techs, but it took everything I had to get us to safety."
And it did. She was exhausted physically and mentally.
"I have nothing left. No more supplies. I had to leave the gear behind so we would survive."
"Ra'asi..."
"Ra'asiel... I couldn't find her. I don't know where she is."
"Him..."
"Hmm?"
"Ra'asiel is... male."
"... I see."
"So Ra'asiel is gone now..."
She hated this. She hated the feeling of patheticness. It reminded her of her past, before she met her 'brother'. She had nothing except him back then, and now?
She was afraid she was going to have nothing again.
A teardrop slowly formed from her eye before rolling gently down her cheek. She swore she wouldn't cry again. She had him, and he was her family. It was all she needed. She had no reason to cry anymore. But it was going to happen again.
The small teardrop fell, catching the lights of the room in it's sparkle. With a inaudible splash, it landed on his face.
"Lyric." His pet name for her. It was her name, and he gave it to her. His first gift. "Why crying...?"
"I'm not crying," she lied, somewhat unsuccessfully. "Just some dust in my eye."
"I see..." he said, unconvinced, and she knew it.
Moments passed, before he slowly moved a hand to his chest, his fingers fumbling for something. She watched, before realising. His section ID had a homing tracer built in, used for emergency rescue and retrieval of bodies if too late! She had lost her own ID, locked up in the flimsy neck ornament, but if his still worked...
Her arm darted out, and her hand took his gloved hand, and moved it over to the shattered remains of his section ID. Touching slowly, he sighed, and she realised the horrible truth from his reaction.
"It's not going to work, is it?"
"'Fraid not, kitten..."
Squeezing his hand to reassure herself, she let it go and resumed leaning back against the wall. "'Niisan? Rest. I'll sing you to sleep."
"Like old days, huh...?"
"Yeah. Like the old days..."
One deep breath. As she adjusted his sleeping position, she closed her eyes and started to sing quietly.
"Wish for peace
Wish for dreams
Wish for love
You are gone
Without saying good-bye..."
