Far from a stranger to the series (or this great site) but I'm busy, more often than not. I've been playing around with the skill tree - not too much I'd like to hope - and I've decided on tuning for balance and survivability since I often solo (it's not you it's me).

I so far haven't committed too deeply into anything but what I feel are basics to my style of play, but if I'm going this route I'd think it unwise of me to pass up on autohalfline, but at the same I can sacrifice it and max out JA 1, S Atk 1, and S Def instead.

My Mag stands at: 60 S Atk, 60 Abl. I'm thinking of doing the blasphemous and distributing the last 30 across the Defs.

This is where I currently stand with my Sword build:

Appreciate your thoughts.

If you put defense into your mag, put all 30 points into Striking Defense
That way you can equip the units that require 390 and 430 S-Def (430 is tough, but 10/10 of the S-Def skill makes it really easy)

There are already threads for discussing skill tree builds. Though try to be careful what you ask. I've noticed a lot of people are really... adamant about thing.

Hunter (http://www.pso-world.com/forums/showthread.php?t=196837)

Ranger (http://www.pso-world.com/forums/showthread.php?t=196898)

You're only telling him that because it's what you're about to try. XD

Thanks for the responses. I'll definitely check out the board, and the Mag Def makes sense since the armor equip requirements in this game are rather...demanding? No, insane works much better.

I'll give my thoughts on auto-halfline. You can stack auto-healing abilities on a mag rather easily, and there isn't many other options about that. Plus, if your character is built defensively, and you do not plan on getting fury stance at all, you really won't need automate halfline. That and the mandatory ~8 points is a bit ridiculous.

I guess putting a single point into it could be seen as an additional random healing with 20% chance to trigger, which for one point isn't half bad. Other than that, I really don't know if it's worth it.

If you do take it however, you'll probably be next to invincible, but at this point in the game that would just be overkill.

Apart from that... partisan gear can be nice to get since you already have it unlocked. Same for just rehearsal, but these are not mandatory. They just add a bit of variety.

Oh, and HP is the absolute best defensive stat, so you might want to get some more since hunter's talent tree allows you to.

That's the thing with auto, just getting there costs a pound - then you actually need to invest even more into the % effects which I doubt need to be higher than 50.

I am tempted to get the Partisan Gear since its just sitting there. I only wish Wired Lance Gear wasn't such a pain to unlock.

Nice call on the Mag - I actually have a couple self heals stacked on it. Though it's still a coin toss in most cases. Depending on what I decide I might add a third.

HP would come my way if I went with maxing S Atk, S Def, and went for the 20% auto-halfline.

The final out come would look like this:

Well, I'll just say that JA bonus is a better damage ehancing tool than S-atk 1, but depending on your race, you might not be able to equip some weapons without the latter. Same goes for guard stance vs S-def 1.
I haven't done the math though. I probably should have told you that in my previous post, too

Basically, you may not want to put any more points into S-atk/S-def than you need to equip lategame's items, imho. Such tiny bonuses really don't make much of a difference in this game, from my experience.

Apart from that, I guess it's a good stance-less talent tree.

Ah decisions, one of the best parts of any skill tree. I haven't committed to anything since my opening post, but I do have things to consider. Then again, there are level caps and hybrid classes to be released, so no matter what, I'll be buying new trees in the future. Still, I like to make things 'work'.

I'm probably gonna do some number crunching against some of the future equips and such before I make any concrete moves.
