Words censored online...Some don't make sence.

During my time on PSO online, I noticed some words are censored that I don't understand.

First of all, the word FART is censored. WHY? Now, I can see the link to the obscene word because of where it comes from. But why when you say "I just farted." it comes out "I just %&!#ed." Makes it look bad.

Secondly, and this is a word nobody has heard of here, but a word SMEG. Basically this word came from another BBS I come from, and basically it's GEMS backwards. But Gems is okay, Smeg is not. Why? I have no clue.

Finally, the weirdest one yet. PORK. You heard right. The other white meat is censored. Don't believe me? Try it! You type in PORK, it types out &!%#. Don't ask why, but I typed in Spork and it came out S&#%!. I can see that it is a religious food for some people, but why go as far as to censor the word? "I just had pork for supper." "AHH MY VIRGIN EARS!"

The main reason a lot of common words are censored is either because the word is a word within a word, (like hoes in shoes) or because a part of the word or the word itself is "vulgar" in another language.

The filter for normal chatting - lobbies and teams - is server-based. However, that's the only server-based thing. Team names, character names, and simple mail all censor on the client side. (This is why you can get away with more in simple mail and team names.)

Why can the filter not filter out WHOLE words and not what is in the middle. There are a lota words blocked that shouldn't be.

On Dreamcast and Gamecube PSo the word 'Shit' is
censored, as you would expect.
However on DC PSO if you do the quest where you have to make a film ( forgot what its called) talk to one of the gaurds near the main teleporter, and he tells you to "Eat shit and die"

also you cant say 'Cunt', but you can say Cunts, as in 'silly cunts'.

"Oh, Dios!" is a Word Select for Spanish (I think it's in place of "Oh, shoot"), but seems to be censored if you write out "Dios" (coming out as "Oh, @#$%!"; yeah, that looks good).

"Snatch" is censored, so if you try saying that someone just snatched a red box it doesn't quite look right.

Choose your vocabulary wisely, do not call people "Gay" or use the offensive term "JAP". Whether your using the word offensively or not do not use such slurs. Think before posting.

Yeah, I know that no one is directing them at anyone, but we still can't just let them be posted like this. Otherwise someone could just make one big post with every derogatory, racist word they can think of and use the excuse that since it wasn't directed at anyone, they should'nt be punished.
