What are these symbols; we have been translating the captchas for like a full day (Yes I mean 24 hours; and by we I mean a group of my employees; only one of whom has any Japanese knowledge). Please help save us from the challenge question. This is from the Sega billing system.

Have you tried using this (http://www.lexilogos.com/keyboard/hiragana.htm)?

Don't captcha expire?

I have tried using the above and Microsofts IME. The person who works for me and knows japanese came up with this:

ぃねぬきき

However Sega's billing partner said:

I have understood this to mean; error. The captcha is incorrect. Please try again.

You have an employee ho claims to have knowledge of japanese and can't read hiragana?

Interesting.

Do it again and keep trying until you get past it using the tools that can be found on the internet.

Well... he said he can speak it; not read it. Though seeing as I know nothing of the language I assume speaking it requires you need to know something of the languages mechanics. Also for clarification; he said its Hiragana but I have heard on this forum it is Katakana... Seeing as they are both different forms of the same language which is it?

they are both used in the Japanese language.

The captcha was in hiragana.

;x Kata/Hira (http://www.realkana.com/katakana/) I was using that. Before this week's patch the captcha was katakana, they switched to hiragana recently. I'm pretty sure if you took too long to enter the captcha it'll time out. You can always just refresh the page till you get an easier one to read.

Well, I don't intend to say anything negative about your employee, don't take me wrong, it's just that kana is like the 5-years-old writting system, everything in japanese has kana in one way or another and I find it difficult to think of a way someone could even have the ability to learn to speak japanese without knowing how to read those.

In any case, your employee was right in that, it's hiragana for the syllabes "i", "ne", "nu", "ki", and "ki" again. He did pick them right, so are you sure the error is in the captcha and not in the name/password?

It's definitely a captcha error, which google translates quite well and can't be misunderstood

"Characters entered did not match the image authentication.
Please try again from the beginning."

Not sure if there are time outs though, I've gotten this error usually if I take too long trying to make out hideously warped stuff, sometimes so badly two can look similar.

Captchas expire, so it could have simply been that it took too long to figure out the captcha and enter it.

Isn't that small い that I see?

いねぬきき ぃねぬきき maybe that's why if the captchas didn't expire first.

Those captchas don't use any of the small forms or any of the forms with voiced marks, I've also never seen the no longer used wi or we or the kana repetition mark. So it only uses 46 of the hiragana.

Yeah, I know that it's not using the small い but this was what he typed out so I guessed he input a small い instead of a normal one.

Didn't work and I have a hard time believing it expires in five minutes. As soon as I put up what I thought the characters were I posted them for a second opinion since no one is around. Unless they have a very painful timeout of like 2 minutes (I doubt as much) I think something is wrong with their system.

Nothing wrong with the system, I can log in just fine.

It's just a short timer. You'll need to input it yourself using some of the methods people posted.

Just refresh the page or close it and go back to the same page.

On my iPhone this happens sometimes 0.o

Eh... I am about to just give up... These CAPTACHAs are difficult enough with my limited eyesight in english without a ten minute time limit. With it being Japanese and a ten minute time limit its nearly impossible.
