Hey there PSOW!
The TOP 10 finally get announced here, much of speculation started but I think you guys will like them.^^
I got so much creative and interesting designs. It was hard to judge on them because they were all really nice!
I will mention all 79 contestants after the event with some of my own opinion on em :)
So don't feel left out.^^

Vote for whoever you think looks the best. Take the time and look at each of em, they are wonderful.^^ Even if your friends are in, you should honor all top 10 by taking time looking at them :)

I know how "beautiful is average" but that selection feels kind of really average. I mean, we have 2 newearls with the same haircut and costume. Also I'm disappointed by the caseals, only R o u g e feels unique and that's because she gives me diabete (I don't meant that in a bad way).
Maybe I'm just bitter from not being in the top (it's a kind of failure, afterall), but I'm not too impressed.

This, it was based on personal preference we don't see some specific hair colors there, and I like how character design didn't really matter, it was more so based on the way the screenshots were taken. Glad I'm not voting.

To be completely honest Sizustar is the only good looking one out of the bunch. All of the other ones are either like 'whatever" or plain unattractive.

IMO my girl is much better than all of them and I didn't even enter this little contest because I don't like to participate in such things.

It makes me a little bit sad that the style the photos were taken was taken in consideration too since this is not a "Best Screenshot" contest but a "Best Character" contest.

Moreover I think there was some missunderstanding with the initial rules of this contest regarding this topic

I think you misunderstand. It was judged based on the character itself, but, if someone enters with a screenshot at a bad angle, too far away, etc., how can they be fairly judged? If you have an amazing product, but can't properly show it, then you're taking away from your own potential.

So, judging was done based on the character, but having a good screenshot helped only in that the judges could see the contestant better. It's pretty simple.

To be fair his character does look like a copy of echo but it is a bit different. I think his character is cuter/pritier than echo.

Voted based on halfway-realistic proportions and originality. Only one of them really struck that balance with me.

It doesn't feel like a true "fashion" contest to me simply because we don't have a lot of outfits yet. I saw very little originality with accessory/outfit/body paint combinations among these ten so I really couldn't vote based on that. I'd like to see this done maybe a year into the game's life so it'll actually feel like a fashion contest.

Not knocking your idea Tene, but I didn't get a real "fashion" vibe from any of this.

It's times like these I kind of wish SEGA had stuck with PSU's "3-piece" outfit setup. More combinations of outfits, and a greater variety for these types of events. I still don't really understand the conversion to a full-on "one-piece" lineup on clothing. Guess the writing was on the wall once that's all they were dumping out on JP PSU.

EDIT: And, obviously, there will be more of these once a substantial amount of clothing has been released. It'll be nice when recolor tickets are easier to get, as well.

I'm even okay with the one-piece idea because of accessories, but we're roughly two months into the game and we just don't have a lot of outfits yet. Again, no outfit combination here even remotely struck me as original, and I'd go as far as saying units and weapons could be fair game. I think this deserves a redux when we've got a year's worth of outfits, so we can see how different builds utilize different outfits and different accessories. This was merely a character competition to me and I voted for who I thought looked remotely proportioned correctly and original, which I kinda saw coming but figured I'd see how it rolled out.

Heh, funny thing, I was originally considering Aiza for this but realized she didn't really stand out enough to really be worth entering. Seems I was right - someone else has already submitted a character with similar colors all around (black hair, red eyes, pale skin). Funny how that works out.

Then again, it seems folks are more interested in someone that's just cute or plainly attractive. Ah, well. Them's the breaks~

Yeah, this is what I was getting at. It's not anyone's fault, and certainly not Tene's or any of the judges', it's just the nature of this sort of thing. I think you can diminish the popularity-voting factor somewhat once we have the ability to take more of a fashion-focus and be able to judge based on outfit combinations and such. That would be fun to me personally and I'd like to see a future iteration of this idea achieve that.

Here are my 2 cents on each of the characters. My vote's for DARKWINGDARA.

Sizustar: [spoiler-box]Looks quite fine. Nothing really wrong with the character. I like the expression, particularly the eyebrows that turn her face into an ambitious fighter who always uses her chances. Other than that, I think it would have come off even better if there was no make-up (blush) though it's nothing bad per se. Overall solid but not stunningly unique or something.[/spoiler-box]

Rika Ver2.3: [spoiler-box]What's up with the bosses in the background? A good spot somewhere in Caves would have been good I think, but with a giant mob behind you it's more difficuilt to check out the character in detail. Nice choice of colours, can't go wrong with black and purple. As opposed to Sizustar, her expression isn't too vibrant. I know I know, she is a CAST, who cares if her face is expressionless or has a face at all but I'm not talking about that. I questioned the boss kill in backgrounds but since it's there now gotta include it, too, right? She just epicly crushed a dragon but it seems like there's not more meaning behind it than just that, a dead dragon. Combine it with the stance, expression and angle and... well, what do you have? I have no idea. Sizustar did better in those aspects. Nonetheless, overall it's not a bad screenshot at all. I just don't see the awesome that it surely could have been.[/spoiler-box]

Silveria:[spoiler-box] It's a good one. Good choice of location, it supports the coldness that comes off from these CAST parts, her needless mouth further suppressed by that ninja mask and these cold yet shining eyes. I'm not sure the "come on guys, give me a hard challenge *yawn*" pose fits her profile but it's good to confirm these clunky parts can actually move. CASTs with big parts but just a static pose are a no go imo. As for the negative stuff, the spiky ears parts don't mix well with the rest of the parts and I'm not sure what to think about that totally exposed torso, nothing bad per se but it makes me wonder.[/spoiler-box]

Cornelia: [spoiler-box]Guys, let me take a break! *falls asleep behind them melons* Mother nature, so to say? I think this image pretty much shows what it wants to show. She is literally welcoming our eyes to look at her as detailed as possible. And I do just that! I'm positively surprised by how you can observe the details of her hands and arms. Everything from hair to eyebrow, to mouth, to ear to the ground give a mature feeling. Judging from that slight angle I believe the majority of what can be seen was fully intentional. I'm not a fan of overly huge breasts and I'm definitely not a fan of those ears but I have to lay down my hat and say, sh!t that's beautiful.[/spoiler-box]

Let's see, orange is my favourite colour but let's not get too subjective here! The mix of orange and black give off a dynamic vibe. She surely looks like a wild fighter, or should I call her destroyer? Those muscles! The charming point is that she looks like fashion doesn't matter to her at all but that just makes her look even cooler to me. The best thing I like is the face, it certainly reminds me a bit of Sizustar but her expression is not only ambitious but straight out serious like a veteran that is somewhere up in the high leagues. Overall a hot character in a hot place doing hot stuff. Wild'n good.[/spoiler-box]

DARKWINGDARA:[spoiler-box] This is my personal favourite and my vote goes to this char. My friend's in here, too, but I feel I am fairer if I actually vote for the one I think truly looks best. She combines the two fortes from テラヌ and Cornelia, experience and maturity. Being on the Floating Islands it comes off as if she made it very far. Now of course everyone can go there and take a screenshot but I wouldn't have said this about any other Floating Island image. She is clearly sitting down taking a break, like she gives a rat's ass about any incoming enemies. Or better yet, she cleared out all the enemies and is now taking a small break during her training. Why training? The green tones of the clothes make me think she's some kind of commander in the military force (well, Arks). The sunglasses underline her privileges and further showcase her status. DARK's wavy hair and those eyes bode well with each other, giving off a tranquil atmosphere. A winner image which surprisingly looks not too special at first glance but shines upon clearer observation.[/spoiler-box]

R o u g e:[spoiler-box] Surely one of the weirder characters, not sure how to comprehend her. From what I can tell, she is supposed to be doll like. It's not hard to see, I give it that. But I can't bring myself to think high of the screenshot. Maybe it's just me but she looks like a doll that is supposed to look cute. Alright. Now what I honestly don't think is that she is cute like a doll. A doll's cuteness and being cute like a doll are two different things imo, and this char is trying to show the former. Imo a rather niche thing. She certainly does her job in being pink and "dolly". The biggest problem I have are with the eyes and the eyebrows. I find it hard to tell what they're supposed to express (expressing nothing counts, too). One of the weaker top 10 because I have no idea what could be discussed about the character to bring out its forte other than "hey she is pink so she is cute".[/spoiler-box]

Anarkii: [spoiler-box]So far with the exception of R o u g e I mostly judged the first entries, but this time I will include the rest because I see a huge improvement starting from the 2nd and 3rd screenshot. I've wondered what kind of character could look great in a pink tiger pierce and my question has been answered, it's Anarkii. Very sexy I must say. Without a weapon she looks rather defenseless but judging from those superior poses it's just that, she doesn't need a weapon to overwhelm enemies and keep it cool and sexy. It's certainly a big teaser because it looks like you could just attempt to jump at her but in reality you won't be able to touch her. What I think would have been very nice to see is both her eyes though I imagine you'd need a special angle for that. The last image is very amazing... sadly I think it pushes Anarkii out of the focus and shifts attention to that cool stuff of death surrounding her. My 2nd favourite top 10.[/spoiler-box]

Her body proportions and facial attire are surely one of the prettier ones in the top 10. Her smile makes me smile. That spacy cowboy hat is quite nifty. The freaky thing is that pair of sunglasses. No matter how I think they'd fit, they just don't look good because of how... you know, they go through the hat. Her right hand in the first image also goes through the sleeve. The character itself looks very nice but the screenshot could have been taken a bit better, and she would have looked finer without the sunglasses. Overall a delicate piece of work (yummy ears btw.) that can break apart fast but it's still very good since, well, it's very good? After-thought: Looking at the 2nd screenshot now it would have made my day if we had mufflers because she'd look almost perfect with one plus that pose in Tundra! :3 Her hair here looks particularly silky btw.[/spoiler-box]

ラン:[spoiler-box] The power of cat ears could harm the whole universe. Do I see right or is there no blush effect on her? That sure stands out, in a good meaning. But to be honest I don't have much I could say about this nya~ing lady. I assume the hair colour is supposed to sync with the eye colour but I think it would have looked nicer with different hair colour. The choice of colours overall doesn't stick out. Yellow sync'd hair and eyes combined with a blue tiger pierce in the snow white Tundra. I don't see a remarkable result in the equation. Then again it doesn't change that she still looks mighty fine despite that, and that's somewhat impressive. Is it the cat ears? It probably is. If she didn't have them, she'd for sure look rather plain. The Talis cards are a nice touch btw.[/spoiler-box]

I am very impressed that you actually took the time to write all of this. Really, nice work! I appreciate the feedback. It's nice to see folks see exactly what I was going for. Bit of a shame not more people appreciate it, but hey, no accountin' for taste an' all that, right? I already knew my creations were all a bit niche anyways.

As a side note, the poll accurately represents (in terms of proportion) how many games, RPGs especially, actually bother to include options that allow me to make a character that fits my tastes (re: pettankos, reverse traps, and lolis). Please excuse me while I wallow in my misery.

I'm glad that some of the voters are having fun with the contest and rooting so strongly for their favorites. You will never hear me say something like "It's just a game", because it's really the social half and not the gameplay half that's got everyone here in the contest. Telling someone to not get upset about it because it's "just a game" makes as much sense to me as telling someone either to not have fun because it's "just a game", or to not get upset about getting a bad news call because it's "just a phone."

On a more serious note Tenebris, I'm thinking that standardising the entry screenshot and adding a few do's and don'ts would be a much better idea to avoid the cries of "this ain't a best screenshot contest!!!!". Putting up a sample of what's expected for hopeful applicants to follow would be useful too - something like what was done during Sega's own character creator contest.

With a little strict enforcement of this rule, this would at least mean that all contestants will start on a level field, and that the judges have to at least look at the character on his/her design merits without the distraction of a fancy background. :3

I said exactly the same a couple of pages back but they replied that the fancy backgrounds "are irrelevant" to them since they just focus on the character design itself.

This.. And I thought the use of any editing tool was prohibited..? Anyway, I know I should focus on the angle and aesthetics next time (if ever).. I just focused on striking a cool pose along with my mag not giving any care on anything else at all. Lol.

Even if it is stated that camera work/background does not factor into judging, it probably does factor into public voting. Some backgrounds and lighting can make a character look more appealing. I think either everyone should be encouraged to use camera and lighting to their advantage, or restrict it to makeover shop pictures.

I know, silly public voting event and it's not that big of a deal, just something to consider to prevent complaints in any future iterations.

I think it's fine to allow editing tools by the time it reaches public voting - it's basically time to take off the gloves at that stage. Personally, I feel Tenebris and the judges did a fine job getting everything organised - everyone's just a little more protective of their female characters compared to their male characters imo. :3

Anyway the gist of my post is basically, less drama = good, therefore limiting possible causes for drama in future = even better. XD

What makes it even sadder is that the male event went sooo good. And there was hardly to no negativity. Nobody cared that males had on the same outfits and other things like that. Everybody appreciated the top 10 chars for what they were instead of looking for faults.

In my opionion, if you say the top 10 chars look alike, you are really shallow and aren't really looking at them. How can you say Cornelia looks like Rouge, or that Rouge looks like Darkwingdara, and that Darkwingdara looks like Sizustar, or that Sizustar looks like Ran, etc.?
I really enjoy the top 10 characters and find them all in their own way very unqiue. More unique than other characters I saw around here. Just because we have limited fashion doesn't mean that the characters can't look unique, pretty or interesting.

Maybe instead of looking for all the negativ things in the event (where there really aren't any, except the people being bitter about their own chars and personal likes not getting in) you could just enjoy and be thankful that somebody is doing something really nice for the community.

But thats the sad thing, people ALWAYS need to complaing and whine about something...its the how the community has become since PSO2 sadly...before PSO2 (and majorty of the new people joined PSOW since alphas) we rarely had any drama at all and now we can't have a single topic without someon being a e-dick. There's always negatives in anything, however. It depends whether you focus on them or the positives and how you approach the competition (like, looking for originality or something else in particular). In a sense, you can justify both the "whiners" AND redroses' approach.

Then there's the people who's tastes just don't match up with what they see; that's kinda inevitable.

But for the sake of improving future competitions, is it possible to create a poll ONLY? Like, no posts allowed, only voting? Because to be fair, PSOW has had an influx of...well, internet.

I don't see the harm in offering suggestions for next time though. I apologize if anything I've said has come off as bitter, I just see opportunities to make this a better event for any future iterations. Tene jumped head first into what was surely going to be a crazy shitstorm and all things considered it's gone pretty well. But that doesn't mean aspects of it can't improve and not everyone in this thread is posting for the sake of being bitter.

ラン really stole the show here, to be honest I somewhat like ラン a bit. the character makes me think of Xenosaga's female Realians with the blonde short hair and yellow eyes. the fox ears are a nice touch and the blue Tiger Pierce outfit really capture ラン's image too.

Sizu has her differences from Echo, but she undeniably resembles Echo from afar, in fact, a lot of people with that face variant resembles Echo from afar. And imo, its not a crime to wear the same outfit of some npc or anybody else's for that matter, 'cause we're basically stuck with these clothes showcased by NPCs, for now at least.

And personally, I find the look of your character to be unique and different. I never said everybodys character looked unique or original, there are many people that base their characters off of characters from other games or animes. However, what makes an unique character for me is when I see it in game, or in sigs here and remember how they look if I meet them again. So that character has something that makes it stick out from others, at least for me.

Well, there were a couple people that complained about like, two or three of the male entries all wearing tuxedos...

BUT, I agree with everything. I felt really bad for Tenebris when I saw how negative everyone was, and still is, being. There's no reason to get so overly-analytical or bitter about any of this, especially when it comes to being crude or disrespectful to the finalists with all the "these aren't unique!!", or whatever else people have been spewing. Maybe not to you, they don't. But to others, they look great.

I quite like them all to be honest, so congrats on making the top 10 girls! The emergency screenshot with Rouge in, is darn cute ^-^; and I would of voted because of that. But I'm looking towards function over fashion this time, with a realistic point of view. (Note: I do know this is a game, and both are equally tided together like Yin-Yang.)

What I like about テラヌ is that she reminds me of Caiera from Planet Hulk. Not your exterior materilistic beauty queen or cute hawtness that everyone would do because she will increase your 'Fun' status points, but much more inner beauty, demeanor, exteriority, curiosity about herself and the environment etc... Also she has a nice set of abs, looks hard a fuck and solely dependent on herself but willing to ask others for help if needs be. Though, I don't know what Zyrusticae intended her persona to be, but this is what I get off her physical look.

I know it is a lot of hard work but it would be cool to see all the other participants with your review on them :3

You wouldn't expect men to "bitch" around like that (I don't wanna offend someone with this word here, but with my limited english thats the best word to describe what I mean) but I honestly didn't expect something else. Men and Women aren't that different in behaviour. Thinking only women care about their looks (or char looks) would be such a cliché, men are as much into it. :P



I don't see the harm in offering suggestions for next time though. I apologize if anything I've said has come off as bitter, I just see opportunities to make this a better event for any future iterations. Tene jumped head first into what was surely going to be a crazy shitstorm and all things considered it's gone pretty well. But that doesn't mean aspects of it can't improve and not everyone in this thread is posting for the sake of being bitter.

Take it or leave it, just droppin some ideas.

I like suggestions and I am always open to accept em. The best way to tell me your suggestions would be PM tho. Out of event context (like answering prior post) you could tell me what could be improved and how. I would look forward to such a mail if you would be willing to write me and surely answer you. :)



I'd be surprised if there is a future, after this thread's reception. Lord knows I wouldn't give this community more of my money and effort after this clusterfudge. But, Tenebris is much kinder than I am.

What you say.....part of me agrees, another part doesnt. Even tho people complain here about I know not everybody isn't all serious, some are jsut hurt in their feelings of not getting in. Some others jsut really think the top 10 are not their taste, and I can accept that. If you read soem posts twice you can read over the rage and see waht they really mean. Besides that, I receive a lot of PMs with people telling me they like the event and this keeps me going on.

As said before, if people really think I did bad here, they won't join into a future event of mine. But there will be future events and If I only get 1 person into it it's still worth to me. :P

I wanna do the community soemthing good, but its about the community to accept it and be with me, or to disagree and avoid. I won'T force anyone into me events if he doesn't want. And if some people disagree with me its somethign I ahve to accept. But such things won't ever get me tos top it.^^

I personally thought the same, "sure looks like Echo" but after I took a better look at Sizu, I noticed that technically only the red ballistic coat reminds of Echo. The fact that the hair is twintail style and somewhat brown could also count but they don't in any way reflect Echo per se. I simply suggest to take a very very close look at each character just to be sure and maybe to show respect, because I'm sure a lot of effort and time has been put in most if not all screenshots. Even I spent hours getting the right screenshot and I didn't get in besides having confidence but while I'm frustrated I have no reason to complain.

Btw. prohibiting posts is indeed a co**block despite the unconstructive feedback. There are much better ways to go around the problems.

I liked my yukata & vol-sword combo, but I'm guessing other people don't like it as much? The action shot I made with the enemy leaping in the background was the same outfit but it seems like not many people really noticed it. I worked on that action shot a lot! ^^; lol

Sorry that your char didn't make it in, but that doesn't mean the judges only let their friends get in.

2. If you voted, and click on the numbers of how many people voted you will be taken to a different voting poll page where you can see everybody who voted.
If you didn't vote, just click on vie poll results and the names will be listed there aswell.

I just expect a friendly and fair competition for fun. I don't care about winning, I certainty don't need the money for anything. If it wasn't a fair competition then I am going to express my disapproval. If there is no way to show that it was a fair competition then I am going to be skeptical. Simple as that. No hard feeling.
